This morning, I’m lying up to my chin in hot water as I attempt to get my muscles to rex. The dream I had st night has me feeling high-strung and out of sorts, yet somehow oddly expectant. So, every muscle in my back and neck feel as if they’re wound up tighter than a piano wire.

In it, all of us were swimming, and the entire time I was watching the girls with their boyfriends and kept feeling as if I were missing out on something when I would look at Jeremy. What specifically, I can’t put my finger on, but that’s what I felt like.

It takes a little while for the hot water to work its magic, but I’m ever so gd when the muscles finally rex. I drain the tub, start my shower, and step in once the water warms up. Yeah, I know, I’m gonna have questions to answer about why I took both a bath and a shower this morning when I go downstairs.

While washing my hair, I ask myself. ‘It can’t be that, can it? I’m not ready for a retionship of more than friends with boys, or is my dream trying to tell me that I am?’

Listen, Jeremy is quite easy on the eyes, kind, and very sweet. Not to mention that he always looks out for us girls and treats us with the utmost respect. Well, other than staring at our boobs. Not that I hold that against him since regardless of age, most boys tend to do that. For that matter, I’ve even seen Dad do it when we were out somewhere. Believe me, I get it, it’s a guy thing.

My parents like him as well. I like hanging out with him and we have a lot of fun when we do. Heck, I’ve even held his hand a couple of times when we were out when other guys would try to pick me up. Holding his hand made short work of their advances and I’m sure that Jeremy understood my reasoning there. Admittedly, I never asked if he did, though.

Anyway, I kind of got off track there. Homecoming week begins next Monday. Suffice it to say that this it’s going to be a much busier week than usual. At least, it will be for those of us who are cheerleaders. In the weeks leading up to it, we’ve been making posters, and such to advertise all of the events. We’ve also been decorating the gym. Two weeks ago we began selling tickets before and after school, and we’ve been taking turns selling them during lunch. Sales have been really good, too.

The first event of Homecoming Week is going to be a powder puff football game. It’s the cheerleaders against a team made up of members of the girl’s athletic clubs on Wednesday. Admission is two canned goods or 5, all of which are being donated to a food bank. It’s going to be a lot of fun and again, we have been practicing for weeks. Mom is our coach and surprisingly, David volunteered to be the assistant coach and they’ve been making pys for us. Win or lose, it should be fun, but I have hopes we’ll win.

Thursday is school spirit day. Everyone is encouraged to paint their faces and dress up. It’s one of the few days when everyone is allowed to wear street clothing. That evening we’re holding a hot dog cookout and bonfire.

Friday we have a pancake breakfast at school that we’ll cook and serve to everyone. Thank God that Mom has been teaching me to cook since I’d hate to embarrass myself.

Side note: I foresee Karen embarrassing herself and the rest of us. She’s done nothing but compin and whine since it was decided that we would be having a pancake breakfast. Her bad attitude and childish temper tantrums have only gotten worse as the year has progressed. You know, I don’t hate anyone, but she’s truly pushing her luck.

It isn’t only me who feels that way. Emma and Kelly have had about all they can take of her. Sophia, Bel, Kaitlynn, and Anika haven’t said too much either way, but I’ve caught them rolling their eyes at her and walking away so they don’t have to deal with her more than once. Coach, more often than not, jumps her ill-tempered, spoiled lil’ butt almost daily.

Back to what I was telling you. Friday, the st hour of school has been canceled. Instead, we’re holding a pep rally. Something we’ve been practicing our rear ends off for since we want everyone as fired up as we can get them. Then, we have to run home, clean up, and change into our dresses for the Homecoming Parade. After that, we have to run back home again to change into our cheer uniforms for the game.

Saturday is the Homecoming dance and regardless of my confusion as far as Jeremy is concerned, I’m looking forward to it. As another aside, Diana and Mom have been teaching me to dance. Not that I didn’t know how to dance, but they said dancing as a girl is different and afterward, I have to agree. In my opinion, I’ve gotten pretty good at it. Listen, girls tend to be more expressive in dance and guys are much more reserved as a general rule. Probably something to do with being seen as unmanly or some other stupid crap. Boy or girl, I never cared how others saw me, I simply had fun dancing.

So, here you go, a list of how that week's pns. It’s going to be busy, but I’m eagerly looking forward to it.

So, after my shower, I dress and head down for breakfast. I’m not going to say much about today and tomorrow since there isn’t all that much that happens. Nothing more than normal. Practice, selling tickets for the dance and daily school life.

Today, I bounce out of bed because I’m rather excited. The day flies by for me and we meet up in the locker room to change for the game. When we head out onto the field after changing, we take our side while our opponents take the other. I dunno how your school things, but at our school, the cheerleaders for both sides are introduced before the game begins. We step forward and wave to the crowd and perform some gymnastics or some such thing when the announcer introduces us. I generally perform a back handspring or the like after I wave.

The game itself is rather straightforward and we had a lot of fun, even if we did lose, although not by much.

Spirit day at school, so, of course, I have to wear my cheer uniform and Diana helps me paint my face in our school colors. In homeroom, the teachers hand out voting forms to everyone so they can vote for the top three that show the most school spirit. Of course, we cheerleaders aren’t included in that, we’re expected to be the epitome of school spirit.

Surprisingly, far more people dressed up than I thought, as in almost the entire student body along with every single member of the school staff. I have no idea if it’s because this is a private school or what, but students and staff seem to go all in for things like this. I’m sure the prizes for the students who win don’t hurt either. The first pce is a 100 visa gift card. The second is a 50 gift card to a popur local restaurant and the third is a 25 gift certificate to the always-popur Jason’s Burgers. Kelly and I went around asking them to donate the prizes. The businesses in the community go over and above to support us, so they’re more than happy to donate a few prizes and the like.

My arm wakes me much earlier than usual because we have to be at school early for the pancake breakfast. I hurriedly shower and dress. Mom and David are already up and waiting for me in the kitchen drinking coffee when I come down. It’s far earlier than normal, so there was no way Mom was going to let us walk to school regardless of how low crime is here. We pick up Emma and Kelly and head off.

As expected, Karen is very little help in this and spends the entire time whining and throwing temper tantrums, even more so after she burns two rge batches of sausage. Seriously? How do you even burn sausage? It’s not complicated or anything, so it’s a serious question. We ended up sending her to serve and even doing something that easy, she dropped several ptes of food and then refused to clean them up. At that point, the coach sent her out of the kitchen, which is probably what she was after in the first pce. Although, if the coach’s expression is an indication then this incident is far from over. Personally, it wouldn’t hurt my feelings if she were suspended or removed from the squad since she’s had a bad attitude all year.

Thankfully, the rest of the morning went smoothly and we had a lot of people attend, both parents and students. FYI, the money collected is going to a local food bank. The day seems to fly by until the final hour is here and we hurriedly make our way to the gym for the pep rally. I won’t go into a whole lot about it since I am sure everyone has been to at least one in your life. The crowd seemed to enjoy themselves during our routines. It made all of our hard work worthwhile.

Afterward, Mom is waiting for Emma, Kelly, and me and immediately takes us to the salon where our hair and makeup are done. Back home, we go our separate ways and Mom comes upstairs with me to help me get ready.

You should remember that I’ll be wearing a blush-colored off-the-shoulder dress for this and the dance. So, after carefully undressing so I don’t mess up my makeup and hair, slip into a new set of panties and a strapless bra and the bck glossy stocking we bought me.

Mom surprises me by slipping a pink choker with an emerald on it around my neck, csping it, and handing me the matching earrings to put in. Afterward, I don my dress and Mom zips it up. Slipping into my heels, I look myself over in the full-length mirror and smile at the image of the lovely girl in it. Lastly, Mom slips a sash over my head and pins it into pce. You should already know what it says, ‘Homecoming Princess.’ Honestly, looking at myself, I admit, I feel like one.

We don’t have to pick up Emma and Kelly since their parents will be taking them, so we jump in Mom’s car and head out. The parade is taking pce down main street, Emma, as the Homecoming Queen, will be in the first car along with the captain of our football team. Kelly and I are in the second and third cars along with our escorts, who are the offensive and defensive team leads.

I should probably mention that Jeremy, as offensive team lead, is luckily my escort. I’m simply happy I didn’t have Dewayne, Blech!, as my escort. Sorry, I just don’t deal with him very well.

There isn’t much to be said, other than Jeremy takes my hand to help me into the car and we take our seats beside each other on the rear deck. We then slowly make our way down the packed street, smiling and waving. Once we finish, he again takes my hand to help me out of the car.

Unfortunately, the parade got off to a te start, bme the band since several of them showed up te, not us. So, we had to run to our parents, which by the way, isn’t that easy to do in 4” heels, and race back home to change.

As for the game, we walked all over them with the final score being 53 - 6.
