Chapter 3: To Battle, part three (42)

  …

Valencia ran forwards, her daggers sinking into the weak points of her foes one after the other. It was a rather easy thing to do, in effect. After all, when you’re fighting your way to an enemy, you don’t really have to think about the others that are behind you.

In all actuality, Valencia was rather put off right now. After all, the demon that she was supposed to fight in a 1v1 wasn’t really making this quick or easy for her. The demon had surrounded itself with others of its kindred.

Behind the army that it had brought y a group of foes that one wouldn’t have been able to see right away. At least, that was what she thought. The demons themselves weren’t anything special. They were simply demons that were boosted with magic. They weren’t even different demons compared to what she had seen before on this battlefield.

Two Overeating stood guard around the Circlet Demon, in front of the three of them, stood many lesser demons and hellhounds. In essence, it was the demon just trying, and partially failing, to make this battle look better than it actually was. What really irked her though, was the fact that some of the lizardmen were trying to help her.

She had tried and partially failed to get them all out of the way. no biggie in essence. She just hoped that her master wouldn’t get mad at her for any mistakes on her part. After all, if she was death, surely she wouldn’t get mad at this, right?

  …

Momonga looked on at what Valenica was doing. She was doing good work, with only a couple fws in the way she did the build up to the fight. Yet, Momonga hadn’t been able to see most of what Valencia was doing, what with Shalltear below her making sounds that sounded like moans. Well, they were moans.

Momonga just shook her head, and leaned forward on her desk as she watched the battle through the mirror. The different tribal chiefs were doing well against the foes put before them. In effect, they had turned themselves into a special forces unit, and Momonga was already drawing ideas from it.

After a minute or two of watching them tear through lesser demons and the like, she moved the POV from them to Valencia once again. The girl was on a roll, with the killing of all of the demons around the Circlet demon. She just hoped that this battle would drum up faith in her, and her subordinates.

  …

The demons around her were all dead. They had been sin by her hand. In fact, the only other being that stood before her, was the Circlet Demon. The two of them stood about a dozen yards apart. The rest of the demon’s army was mostly cut down.

The lizardmen, and the leftover demons, both big and small, had slowed down their fighting. The sound of the battlefield had quieted down somewhat. The Circlet Demon hadn’t fired a single bolt of magic or any other spell at her since she had started to move through his ranks.

The nd around them was pot marked with holes, both made by the lizardmen in an effort to stop the charge of their foes, and by the blows and attacks that happened upon the battlefield itself. The tribal chiefs stood behind her, making sure that they didn’t set off the tension that felt like it could be cut with a knife. Valencia herself didn’t make a move to greet them.

Her gaze was hard, like that of tempered steel. The demon’s twin mouths were quirked up in snarls. Happy snarls they were, and they unnerved the people the that stood in front of him.

It was then that the demon spoke, its voice was bathed in evil, and the noise that came from it was like listening to rotten instruments. The listeners flinched at the voices. As if the noise itself could strike them down.

“My oh my, look how tired you are. It is so satisfying to see the apostles of that retched goddess tired. The look on your face is most definitely worth the wait to come here, after you’ve prepared all of this,” the demon said, and then moved forward.

“I believe that the time for talking is over, the time for violence is now,” Valencia said herself, clicking her left arm back into pce as it had been dislocated.

It was then that she made her pose. She took a deep breath and arched her legs, her back, and tensed her tired muscles. The watchers of this battle looked at her, unsure of what she was doing.

It was then that the demon in front of her made a move. It began to run at her. She let loose the tension that she had built up in her legs. As she sprung forward, like a spring, lunging at her foe with abandon, a crater was formed from where she had sprung from.

The demon caste a spell, unleashing a bolt of lightning as she zipped past it, with a grimace upon her face. She had faced many opponents in the past. Yet this one was special after all, while she had faced Circlet Demons, none were this powerful. Or at least as powerful as it appeared in her tired state.

As she rushed past, the distance between her and her opponent shrank. She reached out with one of her daggers, the edge clipping the bark-like-skin near the thing that could be called its necks. The demon flinched back, not really understanding the feeling of pain that slipped into its mind.

Valencia, meanwhile, skidded to a halt as she got behind the demon by a good dozen yards again. The demon turned to her with fury on the two stolen faces that it wore. It spoke, its tone wrathful.

“You shall pay for that,” it stated, and Valencia let a smirk py on her lips.

“Make me,” she said, a bit of lust filling her tone for reasons unknown to her newly cleansed mind.

It was at this point that she decided to utilize her martial arts. She had several, why she hadn’t used them yet she didn’t know. Her gut had told her not to do so, that they would run out before long. Now, she knew why.

“Martial art: Ability boost,” “ martial art: Greater ability boost,” then we have, “Martial art: Battle aura,” after that we have, “Martial art: Greater battle aura,” she said, her body littering itself with lights as she cast them upon herself.

She rushed forth then, faster than the unaided eye could see. Among the lizardmen that were watching, only a fair few could see her as she ran forth. Her eyes glinting with barely caught light.

The demon roared as it sent a wave of spells at her, yet she dodged them with her newly made strength. It was a moment after that, the demon found itself impaled by a dagger. It was stabbed in the center of its chest. Pain fred in the demon.

Valencia activated spell hidden in the bde. It was a simple thing, really. Just the, “napalm,” spell. The 7th tier spell washed over the demon. Fmes licked it. The fmes soaked into the Circlet demon. It then knew no more, for it had passed.
