Chapter 3: To Battle
The trees had been cleared away. The marshnd had been deepened, to better flex their advantage. The weapons that the goddess had gifted them had been passed around the fighters. The different tribes had gathered, their own combatants had been brought forth.
Of course, there really weren’t enough weapons to equipe all the fighters, so the priests of the Red Eye tribe had been sent around the area, to reinforce the warriors all about the different fighting formations. Valencia looked around the area, her own gaze hard like obsidian.
The vilge had been turned into a military base, for ck of a better word. The forces of all the vilges and tribes had been sent here to help her kill the demon and his army who was posing as here foes. In all actuality, this fight was basically Guaranteed for her to win. Yet, she didn’t want all the vilgers to die, well at least more than was necessary.
She was still high strung, at least a little. The children and other non-combatants had been evacuated away from the vilge. Of course, she knew that they were fine. It was a simple matter of the air of the pce. The people all around her were busy preparing for the fight ahead.
It was then that she heard footsteps behind herself. She turned around and saw one of the lizardmen that she hadn’t had the pleasure of actually learning the name of. He spoke, his voice tense from the actions yet to take pce in the future.
“The chiefs ask that you attend their meeting,” he said, “if you’ll follow me,” he finished, turning around and walking to the meeting pce.
It was after only about a minute of walking, that she made it to the pce. She could hear the people on the inside speaking, their voices building into a cacophony of noise. She leaned on the door as a force of habit, listening in on the conversation.
It was right after that she heard someone walk over to the door on the inside, so she decided to open the door itself. She pulled on the handle and stepped inside with a flourish yet had a serious expression on her face.
“Hello everyone, I gd I could make it,” she said, her voice calm, yet hardened.
“Ah, Valencia, I’m gd you could make it,” Shasuryu Shasha said, his tone even, “I’m sure everyone here is rather gd for the information that you’ll provide,” he said, his arm gesturing to the rest of the chiefs.
The rest nodded their heads. The simple fact that this human was here was partially suspicious to them. Yet, at the end of the day she had information that was needed to end this demon threat.
“Ok, so where should I start?” she asked, sitting down on the offered spot, “There are a lot of different things that need to be said and expined, so where do you want to start?” she said.
“Let’s start with why this is happening in the first pce. Why is this demon is even attacking?” one of the chiefs, Sukyu Juju she believed his name was, asked.
“For one, the demons want us all, except for green cw of course, as vassals. They want the different tribes for many uses, such as bor, food, entertainment. They could even want you all as sve soldiers,” she expined, to which they all nodded their heads in agreement.
“Ok, so what kinds of soldiers are we looking at? we have sent scouts out around the area,” Sukyu Juju said, “Yet all we could find was destroyed pnt life and forests.”
“Well, for one thing, he can teleport. So, he wouldn’t need to build a base near this area. In fact, their base is probably on the other side of the world,” she expined, and that got a reaction from them all.
“Oh, and how do you have this info?” one of them asked, Zenberu, she remembered, “that’s rather unbelievable.”
“It’s the truth, for one thing. As for the reason why, I know this; it is because I have seen them use such magic. It is rather common for magical creatures such as them to use teleportation like that,” she said, her voice level.
She paused, letting that sink in. Everyone here was looking at her. This sent her ego skyrocketing.
“Also, bringing up their way of transporting this all, it depends on whether Jaldabaoth is interested in this battle. He’s the leader of all of these demons and riffraff.” She expined, grabbing the water from her hip and taking a swig.
The others let her do so without bombarding her with questions. The silence though, was broken by her gulping. It would have been comical if it weren’t for the reason they were all here. She finished drinking soon after.
“If the battle catches his eye, then he will summon a wall of fmes that boost the power of all demons inside of them. The fmes aren’t hot, in actuality. He will summon the demons separately from the rest of the prepared forces inside of the fme wall,” she said, her tone light.
“Then, if he’s here, it will only be a matter of time before my goddess notices and banishes him back to his workstation, as he technically works for her comrades. Yet, he sucks at his job and wants to leave. So, he leaves and tries to destroy the world that she and her comrades loved,” she said.
The others soaked all this in. Their minds flittering between different ideas. They all had pns on what to do, yet if this was true, then two waves of demons would be coming for their necks.
“So, if he arrives, we’re fucked,” Zenberu said, getting gred at by Crusch.
“Yep, pretty much. Though, he won’t come. I’m pretty sure that he senses my connection to the goddess right now, and won’t intervene. Because of that, we won’t have to worry for the most part,” she said.
“What of main force?” the chief draped in bone asked.
“They won’t appear right in front of us,” Valenica said, her tone serious, “these demons are actually prepared to fight and such. So, they will need to be teleported a bit farther away. This is so they can get their bearings and form up instead of just blindly attacking like berserkers,” she said.
“Ok, that makes sense,” Crush said, “we have prepared our forces on the information you have told us before. So, what forces do you believe they themselves have prepped?” she asked.
The next hour of the day went on like this. With lots of questions on battle tactics, unit composition, among other things. The sun was high in the sky by the time she had entered the room. Yet, by the end, the sun had set. It was a testament to how thorough her allies were about this. Yet the day came, just two days after that meeting, doom was coming.
