Lo opened the door to her cabin with a soft hum, quickly hitching her breath at the mess before her. All her stuff was flung across the room in an obvious rage at her arrival. Everything in Lo’s duffle bag had been dumped out and kicked around. The backpack was gutted and discarded without thought. Her pillow was in the trash bin. The girl clenched her teeth, feeling tears swell up in her eyes.
Lo sniffled as she crouched down to gather all her things. It hurt her feelings to know someone purposely did this to her. How could she? Lo was always sweet and docile. She hadn’t even spoken to another camper yet. She was too sensitive to cause any trouble.
The door of the cabin creaked open, and she quickly looked behind her to see who it was. The girl standing at the door looked just about as shocked at the mess as Lo did. She had amber hair that was braided to one side. Her face showed a combination of emotions such as surprise, disgust, and sorrow. “Oh my god... I’m so sorry!” She immediately dropped down, plucking scattered clothing and the diary flung to the corner. She looked at the name written on the front of the composition notebook.
“Are you Lo?” The girl asked, hoping their psychotic cabinmate hadn’t read from her journal.
Lo nodded, quietly retrieving a hiding tennis shoe from under the bunk bed.
“My name is Bridget,” the girl snatched the matching shoe heading for the door.
The girl smiled, happy to have someone help her gather all her stuff. “Did you do this?” Lo spoke softly, almost too nervous to ask.
“No way! Ugh, but I’m pretty sure I know who did...” Bridget's amber eyes burned like her fiery hair, all matching a fierce aura that Lo submitted to but didn’t feel intimidated by. She sighed heavily and shook her head, sitting on her knees next to Lo.
“Who?” She asked, opening her duffle bag to allow Bridget to drop the clothes in.
“The other girl that’s staying in this cabin with us,” she mumbled, handing her journal and white tennis shoe back. “Her name is Penny, and she brings bitch to whole new meanings. She thinks she runs this pce...” The older girl watched Lo return her stuff to the single bed. “I think she’s cimed that one... You’ll have to share the bunk bed with me.”
“Oh...” Lo was quiet, still feeling shaken by the mess. She felt embarrassed for getting bullied on the first day. She wiped her cheeks then looked at the bunk bed.
“I’m on the bottom one.” Bridget pointed to the yellow trunk. “You can use that chest to put your things in.”
Lo nodded as she went over to it. She was thankful to have a rge trunk to pce her bags in. It was spacious for everything and more.
“Again, I’m so sorry this happened.” She pulled Lo’s pillow out of the trash can and brushed it off before giving it to her.
“I haven’t even met her yet!” The shorter girl pouted.
Bridget crawled onto her bed then patted the space next to her. “Oh, you will,” she smirked. “So, is this your first time at this camp?”
“Yeah,” Lo nodded, sitting on the bed with her. “What about you?”
“Nope! This is my third year~” The older teen grinned proudly, straightening her posture.
“Is it fun here?”
“Eh, it’s whatever. I really just come for the cute counselor~” She tightened her braid. “Have you met him yet?”
“Billy?”
“Yes~!”
Lo giggled. “He’s very nice~”
“God, he’s hot... I’d give anything to have seven minutes in heaven with him.” Bridget fanned herself with a swift woo.
The younger girl didn’t really know what seven minutes in heaven meant but she smiled anyways. “He told me he’s the only counselor here.”
“I know!” Bridget beamed excitedly. “Isn’t that wonderful?! And plus, he’s single!”
“He is?”
Bridget giggled and nodded. “I asked him if he was~”
Lo blushed softly as she thought about Billy.
Before the girls' conversation could go any further, the cabin door was kicked open. Walking in was who Lo suspected to be Penny. It was the same girl that gave her those death stares when she arrived.
