Yumi Rose, who had lost her job due to her inconsistent behavior, was betrayed by her fiancé, who declared his marriage with her best friend Elizabeth. Devastated, she was going home. Her home and property were taken by bank as she had taken a good amount of loan.
When everything was against her she began to walk but her feet were not listening to her. She hadn’t eaten from days. She passed by the fortune teller. The lady who was telling future of everyone, called her. Yumi ignored her as she didn’t even had money for food. But the lady grabbed her from behind and said, “He is waiting for you. For the promise you made. You have swore to be with him.”
She was not understanding her. The lady continued to remind her of the forgotten promise. Yumi had enough and she said, “Stop it, you don’t know what I am going through. I don’t want to go all out on you.”
She then went towards the place where homeless people sleep. As she was crossing the street, suddenly she was hit by a car.
As her consciousness was fading, the fortune teller came again to her and said, “The broken promise demands to be fulfilled. You betrayed him and he betrayed you. You both have to fulfill it or suffer eternally.”
Yumi couldn’t answer but she thought that she would tell the God about her miserable life. A voice was screeching in her head. It was saying, “Tess, Wake up!”
Yumi woke up hurriedly and looked at the woman who was calling her Tess. She asked, “Why are you calling me Tess?”
The woman laughed and said, “Because you are Tess Durbeyfield.”
She demanded a mirror. When she was given one, she couldn’t believe it. She had dark hair with red ribbon and innocent face with gleaming and round black eyes. She was the Tess of the D’Urbervilles.
She figured out that the woman who was calling her was her mother. Everyone thought that she was sick. So they let her rest naturally as she had to go to D’Urbervilles after that day.
Yumi began to cry when everybody left her to rest. She thought that fate was always cruel to her. Now she had to live a tragic life of Tess. During this, she thought that she knew why her fate was tragic. So, she could also change it. She got a new determination and the next day the carriage in which she had to leave, arrived.
With new determination and resolution to bring a good fortune to her family, Yumi, as Tess, thought that she would not interact with the male leads of the novel.
Tess’s mother, Mrs. Durbeyfield called her out and a handsome gentleman gave his hand to help her get on. She refused to take help. The gentleman, in a surprised
reaction, got on the carriage and said, “Not taking my hand, that was impressive. But how long are you going to ignore me? As you see the journey ahead is quite lengthy.”
His golden hair fluttered in the air and his eyes which were like emerald jewels sparkled with pride and happiness. He was wearing white suite with red linings on the edges. His white shoes were clean without a spot of dirt on it. He was also wearing gloves as it was a custom for nobles of that time.
“Why, Mr. Alec, you should focus on the way ahead, as I am not interested in talking with strangers.” She said with an indifferent expression.
Alec looked quite impressed with her. He moved towards the destination, he tried to talk to her multiple times but her response was silence. Then he stopped the carriage. He then looked in her eyes and gave a gloomy expression. Then he put his hand on her waist and pulled her closer. He said, “Miss Tess, you are quite indifferent with me. We have met but one time. What thing about me made you so angry that you don’t want to talk to me?”
She looked at him and her cheeks became red. He was coming closer and closer. It seemed like he was aiming for her lips. But she shoved him politely by saying, “I think you should not do it. I am not that kind of woman, You know.”
Alec’s eyes became intense as he was rejected and humiliated, but he remained silent for the time being. When they reached the castle of the D’Urbervilles, Alec again showed his gentlemanly behavior by giving her a hand. This time she not only refused but got off from the other side. Alec had enough of that. He clenched his hands and gritted his teeth.
Alec managed to control his anger and he came back to his calm demeanor. Head servant was standing on the front door to receive her and tell her about the work she had to do there. Alec went from there. She told Tess that her Master always won the tournament of Knights. But Tess didn’t seem to be interested.
While working there, Tess figured out important information on Alec. Her investigation showed that Alec was acting head of the family as his father was away for more than five years. He disappeared after the tournament of Knights. While digging deeper, she figured out that the last tournament which was attended by him, was the most stunning tournament as a commoner won the prize, defeating all the nobles. She gathered all these information from the market, from where she brought necessities for the manor.
The inevitable moment of the fate arrived when Alec asked her to come with him. She said, “I refuse to come with you alone. If you will take one more servant than I shall go with you.”
Alec said, “Playing hard to get. I like your attitude. Ok, since I am generous and the greatest Knight in this empire, I shall grant your wish, my dear Tess.”
He then asked a man who was about six foot tall and had a good physique, to come along with them. The man was looking like he didn’t care about anyone. His eyes were red like blood and rubies. His hair were jet black. Also his aura was like of a killer. He looked at Tess and she began to tremble as he was so horrible.
The man began to control the horse while Tess and Alec sat down. When the work was over and they were coming back. They had to take the route of the jungle as the other way was blocked. Alec smiled at Tess and said, “Now Tess, that was a very good way of taking my attention. You knew that if I were to take a man, I would have to sit with you. You are trying to seduce me.”
Tess looked at him and rolled her eyes. Alec didn’t believe at what he saw but he had to remain calm. He thought, “Just you wait, you overconfident woman. You will end up in my arms after all”. Then he gave a cute smile to Tess.
The weather was so good. The cool breeze was making leaves of the tree dance on their tone. The leaves could not resist the music of wind and began to dance. Alec’s beautiful eyes began to sparkle. His hair were also moving on the tunes of wind. It was as if nature itself was telling Tess to give up. Tess’s cheeks were turning red as Alec was looking irresistible to her. It was the most beautiful and elegant trap of nature.
Alec looked into the eyes of Tess. Her Innocent eyes were gleaming with hope of living. He then called her name with his charming voice. His eyes were like telling her to give up. Tess was drawn to his charm. She was going to give up but suddenly the carriage jolted due to a rock, and she came to her senses. Alec was so close to her, she in her fear, slapped him. The slap was so hard that the man who was moving horse looked back. Alec was very angry but it seemed like he controlled himself and asked for forgiveness.
Alec became quiet and he crossed his arms. He was not even looking at her. The moon was especially giving a spotlight to him. He was looking so charming that any woman would have fallen for him. It is truth universally known that the spider web look more beautiful when sunlight gives it a spotlight. But Its always a trap.
The nature had not given up yet. There was a fallen tree in the middle of the way. So Alec ordered the man to find another way and they would wait in the carriage. The man left to find a way. He was quite mysterious as he didn’t speak much and he didn’t even looked in his Master’s eyes. He was very obedient and Alec didn’t even saw his face.
When he left, Alec gave a glare to Tess pointing ot out her vulnerable situation. She immediately tried to get off from the carriage but he caught her from her hand. He then pulled her closer and whispered in her ear, “It seems like your slap is working on me Tess. You should have remained obedient to your only master. But you slapped him in front of another servant. Such a shame. Now shall we start listening your praise for me and how hard you are trying to get my attention.”
Tess tried to break free but his grip was so strong. How could a rat escape from snake’s mouth.
She tried hard but fate had decided her doom and it would do anything for Tess to obey it. Alec grabbed her by her waist and he again aimed for her thin red lips. She tried her best to break free, although it was in vain, she didn’t gave up. She began to scream. Alec had to put his one hand on her mouth. During this, the servant came back running and he kicked Alec away from her. Tess was trembling and she began to cry loudly. Alec got up in anger and tried to interrogate the servant. But when he saw his face, he began to tremble.
The man was looking at him intensely and his aura was like a killer. Alec said in his trembling voice, “Y- you are that K – Knight.”
“Get out” he said with an intense voice. Alec ran away from there in the carriage. While Tess was still sobbing and trembling. The man gave his coat to her and gave a signal to come after him. She was trembling so hard that even walking was impossible for her.
The man gave her a signal to stay there and tried to go but Tess didn’t want to be alone again so she requested him to stay there. The man began to think then he made a little place for Tess to spend her night. He made it with the fallen tree. He himself remained outside, in a place where Tess could see him easily.
In the morning when Tess woke up, the Knight was ready with the carriage and some breakfast for Tess to eat. Tess was a little embarrassed so she tried to share the breakfast that was given to her. But the Knight didn’t care and started to control horse.
Tess was trying to talk in the way but Knight was not interested in small talk. She then began to look at the fields from which they were going through. The fields were dancing as they were in full bloom. Tess became happy when she saw this. She began to smile and her situation was better than before. They reached the D’Urbervilles manor. Tess’s calm situation again turned into grim and scary.

She ran in the mansion to get it and Alec tried to capture her. But Knight grabbed him from behind and warned him. The warning was somehow like this, “If you dare to harm her or any woman again then I swear on my Master’s name, I will kill you slowly and painfully.”
Tess came back with her things and went to the carriage. The Knight, however came with a grin on his face. Tess was astound to see a smile on the face of grim Knight. When he sat down he threw an apple towards Tess and said, “Eat it and remain patient until we reach Marlott. After that you can eat as much as you want, because you will be at home.”
She thought that the Knight didn’t even had breakfast so she tried to offer him by saying, “Mr. Knight I am much grateful to you for the help but I think you deserve it more than me as you didn’t even had breakfast.”
He didn’t say a word and started the journey towards Marlott. At first, Tess was excited as she couldn’t enjoy the scenery when she came with Alec but now she can enjoy it by heart. She tried to take his attention but he was so stern that a rock would be more talkative.
Tess began to think about her life as Yumi. She thought, “When I was Yumi, I couldn’t afford to go out. But now even if I have possessed the most ill fated person, I can enjoy because I know what things can harm me.”
When she reached her hometown, people looked at her in wonder as she came home with a stranger. Some women began to gossip. When Tess’s mother saw her, she slapped her. Her father said, “Because of your mistakes, your sisters have to stay at home forever.”
She wasn’t understanding the situation. Suddenly, some villagers became aggressive and they tried to attack her. They threw rocks at her. The Knight caught all rocks by his bare hands.
Tess was taken by the Knight. She was wondering where she could go now. She began to cry. The Knight sighed and said, “Don’t worry, I know a place where you would be safe and happy.”
Tess asked, “Come to think of it, I don’t even know you and your name but you even knew my hometown.”
“Trust me I am the last person you want to know about.” Said the Knight, “But the least I can tell you, the name is Carlos.”
Tess looked at him while wiping her tears and said, “Well, Carlos you must think of me as a dumb and vulnerable woma—“
“No I do not.” Said Carlos. “You are brave. Probably more than a woman I once knew.”
They reached a place. The night was covering everything in the dark which was once in light. A mysterious man was sitting on a tree. He was humming something like this, “Your promise shall make you feel anxious until you come to me. My dear Tess, the time has come.”
There was a voice of a person from the cave who was enchanting, “It is time, it is time.”
Carlos got off the carriage and knocked at the door. A man with silver hair and blue shimmering eyes with a perfectly lined face and thin light red lips, came out. He was wearing white shirt and blue pants. Carlos called Tess. When Tess looked at that man, she was stunned on his beauty and she involuntarily called him Angel. He grabbed her hand and said, “Yes my lady. My name is Angel Clare. How can I help you? Suddenly her head began to spin and she was hearing a voice. It was like this, “Fulfill the promise, fulfill it or else you shall face the wrath.”
She was going to fall and Carlos grabbed her. Angel didn’t like it. He gave an indifferent look to Carlos. While Carlos didn’t hesitate and said, “You told me to keep her safe, its done.”
Tess was unconscious. Angel tried to take her but Carlos took her into his arms and asked him to show the way.
When he came back Angel asked him, “Why did you save her from seduction.”
Carlos answered, “It was not seduction, it was not on her will. Besides, we were on the carriage not a horse. It was not like you describe. She is also nothing like you told me.”
Angel began to wonder that what had happened to Tess.
Carlos said, “Leave this matter. First give me the medicine you promised. My Master cannot live longer without it.”
Angel said, “Calm down. Carlos D’Urbervilles, the illegitimate little brother of Alec D’Urbervilles.”
“Shut up. I told you I don’t consider him my father.” Said Carlos in anger and clenched hands.
Angel smiled and said, “Does it sting that your mother who was a worker at that manor was seduced by your father and also she was promised to be a mistress. Unfortunately she bore you and was betrayed by her love. She also tried to kill you right, as you resembled to him more. But not one part of you resembled her.”
“Stop it. I said STOP IT” he said while slamming the table.
Angel smirked and said, “As you say, the only commoner winner of Knight’s tournament.”
Tess was dreaming something. There was a man sitting on a tree who was saying, “Tess, I was waiting for you. I have trespassed the lines of time and dimensions only for you.”
Tess couldn’t see his face. She tried but the man grabbed her eyes and said, “You wan t to see me now, right. You will eventually. Don’t worry.”
Angel went towards Tess as Carlos left the place. He carefully put his hand on her forehead and said, “Only for you, I have Trespassed all the boundaries of time and space.”
Then a magician came in and said, “Master Clare, your family is looking for you. Are you not afraid that they will find out about your usage of black magic to play with time and dimension.”
Angel glared at him and said, “You know when I came to you I had nothing. I had lost my Tess to this system and my own faults. Now if my family wants to become hindrance in my relationship with Tess, then I will kill everyone”. “She is only mine. The promise she had made with me to stay all her life with me has to be fulfilled by her or else I will make her fulfill it. Even that stupid D’Urbervilles didn’t know that I was trying to use him as if Tess was no longer maiden she would have nowhere to go but me. If only that Carlos didn’t save her. I am sure he remembered his mother.” Angel said with determination in his eyes and a totally indifferent expression.
Magician looked at him and said, “Your name is Angel, but you are truly a demon’s prodigy.”
Angel laughed and said, “True love can make anyone mad.”
On the other hand, Carlos reached home empty handed. He looked at his master and said, “Forgive me Master. I have failed you. I thought I will do my task flawlessly, but I failed to do even a simplest task. She was so innocent that I thought about my mother. Was she also this innocent one time?”
He said it while imagining Tess laughing in the golden fields.
While Tess was dreaming that a man was weeping on a woman’s body. She tried to get near then she realized that nobody can see her or listen to her as it was a memory.
She saw that the crying man was Angel and the dead woman was Tess. He was crying so badly that everyone gathered around him. A man in black robe came near him and tried to calm him down. After some time, Angel buried her and the same man offered him something. He said, “Son of a Priest you are, but I can offer you a way that is not of a Priest that I assure you.”
Angel looked like he was ready to do anything to bring her Tess back. The man told him that he was a magician. An expert in dark arts. He added that he can manipulate time and space. Angel said, “I still regret leaving her alone when she needed me most. I am the worst husband ever.”
“Don’t worry. I can bring her back. But promise me that the soul which will come along in the process from another dimension, you will without question give to me through a ritual.” Said, magician with a smirk on his face.
When Tess heard this she jolted with fear and her eyes were widened. She now knew that her very soul as Yumi was wanted by the ominous magician. She thought the only way to get out was to wake-up first.
Tess woke up only to find Angel and Magician in her surrounding. She tried to hide the fact that she knew their intentions. She was sweating. Angel looked at her and tried to wipe her face. But she began to tremble in horror. Angel said, “So you saw what was the deal, I guess there is no need to hide it from you now.”
On the other hand, Carlos’s Master said to him, “My dear Carlos, I was a drunkard before I met you. You gave me a reason to live. You know I have lived a quite good life. Don’t try to make this old man better, instead go and safe that girl. She needs you and you need her.”
Carlos looked at him stunningly and said, "Master what are you—"
“Just go. Also tell her how you feel.” His master said.
Carlos began to blush and said, “I don’t know what you are talking about.”
His Master laughed and said, “You still are like a kid. You are just like your mother.”
He smiled and said, “I will be back soon.”
He then sat on the horse and set a course towards Tess as his destination. On the horse’s back, Carlos began to think about his past. He thought, “Can anyone believe that I am Carlos D’Urbervilles. I who never was able to call my father and tell him how I felt. Me a child whose mother hated him from her heart. Just because I look like him.”
Then he wandered through his past memory, in which he was four years old and his mother was trying to strangle him to death. The words she said while she was crying still haunted him, “Why did you have to be born. You should have died, died, died.”
Carlos remembered People calling his Master, who saved him from his mother, a maniac for raising an illegitimate child. He also remembered winning the tournament. But after he won, some people spread the news about him being illegitimate. He was then denounced from the tournament. After that he didn’t care about anyone.
But suddenly his eyes which were unsure of their feelings, began to glow because of a girl who was smiling at him without asking if he was illegitimate or not. His heart began to beat faster.
He felt fear on the thought of loosing her. He said, “I once knew a woman, whom I thought, would love me unconditionally, but she tried to kill me when I was not powerful enough to eat by myself. But now Tess, why do you not hesitate when you look at me? Why do you not feel hate towards me? Why are you dragging me into this pit of love? What if you are just doing it to hurt me? Even if you are, I will gladly be hurt by you. I will not leave you until you are tired of me.”
While Angel and Magician took Tess in the cave of magician. Magician drew a magic circle to draw her soul out. While Angel waited outside for Tess to come out. Tess tried her best but she couldn’t safe herself against magic.
The magician started to use incantations. While Carlos reached the house in which he left Tess. Although he couldn’t find her. He searched everywhere but in vain. Tess was losing consciousness and she thought, “So this is how I am going to die. It was a wonderful life. I should have known that fate cannot be changed. Being Tess means death.”
Suddenly she heard a distant voice saying, “Tess, Tess. Get away from her.”
It was Carlos. He found her. The magician was not going to give up so he used magic to arouse dead to get some time. Carlos was a master knight, he couldn’t be defeated by some bunch of undead. He cleared his way and threw an undead on the magician. The magician used his wand and threw that away. Then he began to laugh hysterically. He said, “You have taken the talent of your father, unlike your big brother, Alec.” Carlos was not getting the point of him. Magician took his robe off to make him understand. He was Mr. D’Urbervilles. Mr. D’Urbervilles was missing for whole five years. It was after the tournament, in which he destroyed the pride of many nobles and won.
Carlos was full of anger as he said, “YOU!”
The magician smiled and said, “Hello son. Long time no seen. By the way how is your mother. Is she still waiting to be my mistress?”
Carlos glared at him. The magician smirked and said, “Like I said, you are like me.”
Carlos started swinging his sword. He first attacked and the magician stopped it just by his hands. He then said, “What happened Carlos dear? Did that old man not teach you anything?”
He then threw him away. Carlos was hit hardly and he was slammed against the wall. He was injured badly because the wall was made of rough rocks. The magician came nearer to him and caught him by his hair. He then said, “You know son, everybody wants something and if you know that desire of a person, you can control him by feeding him that desire. The promise Tess made with Angel to be together with him is a desire that is most powerful on the part of Angel.”
Carlos was trying to fight back but he was bleeding hardly. His father was having fun to see his miserable state. He then said, “You know what makes this soul so much powerful? It is the desire to live and to be with someone forever.”
Carlos’s eyes widened, due to his incapability of saving her from his father’s clutches. He stood up and ran towards his father and said, “Get your hands off her.”
Then he swung his sword. His father thought that Carlos was aiming for head. So he tried to defend his head, but he was never aiming for the head. He aimed for legs and took his both legs. The whole cave echoed with the shrieks of the magician. He then went towards Tess. The magician tried every incantation, but couldn’t bring his legs back. It was due to the sword. The sword was a legendary weapon, which was once owned by the real D’Urbervilles.
He called her out but she was not moving. Angel saw him and said, “That day, I was also like this. If you hadn’t interrupted my Tess would have come back to my arms.”
Carlos glared at him. He was looking so horrible that only his eyes were enough to take the life of a person. Angel said, “I plea you, give me my Tess back. We promised each other to be together. If you came between, she will suffer. You know that.”
Carlos’s glare was becoming more intense as he came closer to him. He said, “But there is one problem.
You see Clare, Tess was never yours to begin with. She was always of the D’Urbervilles. He said it with a horrific expression. Then he warned him by saying, “Now you have broken the promise first, so you have to suffer for your life. And I assure you that if you tried to meddle in her life, you will also suffer in the afterworld. Because I am not a forgiving person.”
Angel was trembling because he never saw that side of him. He ran away from there. Carlos held Tess in his arms and came nearer the magician who was bleeding so much. Then he smirked and said, “You know father, I think you look better this way.” While going towards home, he gave the magician to the doctors.
Tess was still alive although she was not opening her eyes. Carlos picked her up and took her with him to his home. His Master gave him some herbs and Carlos took care of her for whole three days. He was not having a wink of sleep. He was just concerned about her. Suddenly she opened her eyes and Carlos was overjoyed at that moment. He gave her some light food. She tried to speak but he told her to rest.
After some days Tess was healthy and was cheerful too. The sad walls of the house who had never seen a woman began to glow.
The environment itself became cheery as Tess was joyfully dancing. Carlos was trying to find a way to propose her. He was still blushing on the idea of proposing her. His master said, “Tess my dear, my student doesn’t really know how to react or show feelings but I would appreciate it if you would live with him for the rest of your life.”
Tess smiled and said, “I also trust him and love him from all my heart.”
“Carlos come out, you don’t have to hear it like that.” Said, master with a mocking expression.
Carlos jumped down from the tree and cleared his throat. He then started blushing and began to put his hand on his head.
Tess began to blush as she had confessed her feelings for him. She tried to hide her face from him. They were both being shy and awkward. The master began to laugh and said, “I think you two should get married soon. As this old man doesn’t have much time. On the wedding day, Carlos was very nervous. But Tess was more nervous than him. They were a match made in heaven. Many nobles and commoners attended their marriage as Carlos was great Knight and master swordsman. And after that they lived happily ever after.
“Was it all that Daddy.” Said the little girl.
Carlos said, “Yes, that’s how your Daddy met with your beautiful Mommy.”
The girl said, “Will I also meet my prince. Will he also save me.”
“Your Daddy can keep you safe from anyone including prince.” Said Carlos with determination.
“Carlos.” Said Tess while trying to make her daughter fall asleep. “You know Violet, Mommy will help you find your prince ok.”
Carlos and Tess then turned the light off and said, “Goodnight our little princess.”
