Chapter 25.5: Interlude

  ROYAL HALLS

CASTLE ORDONIS, ESPER - 11:46 AM

Inside a golden, gothic castle sprinted a young servant clad in a crimson vest and pants, the former of which had a black ouroboros attached at the back. As he hurriedly makes his way through the halls, he encounters a large, towering man with long, curly brown hair and fair skin donning charcoal-black armor. Though his size was massive, he was no ogre; he was rather quite beautiful.

"Sir Samuel!" the servant greets the tall man.

"What's the matter?" Samuel asks the servant.

"It's about Lavia! The king must know!" the servant exclaims in a visible panic. Samuel steps aside, allowing the servant to enter the king's bedchambers.

  AUGUSTUS' CHAMBER

CASTLE ORDONIS, ESPER - 12:10 PM

"Mmmgh..." a young woman moans as she performs fellatio on a tall, middle-aged man with auburn hair. The two had no clothes on, laying on a crimson bed draped with gold curtains.

"Yeah... Just like that, baby..." the man says as the servant bolts into the room, taking them both by surprise.

"What in the goddamn-" the man exclaims as he and the woman struggle to hide under the velvet sheets. The servant flails his arms in the air, processing what he had just seen.

"I- I- I apologize, Your Grace!" the servant yells out in shame as the king hurls a pillow at him.

"Don't you have any manners, boy?! Where's Sam?! He was supposed to be on guard!"

"General Samuel let me in, Your Grace! I have urgent news regarding Lavia!"

"Fuckin' better be urgent, or I'll have you executed!" the king replies, frustrated at the servant's untimely interference.

"The protective barrier surrounding Lavia has dispersed alongside the rise of a massive mushroom cloud! Rumors say that the entirety of the southern portion was devastated in a nuclear explosion, but our intelligence unit is yet to confirm, Your Grace!" the servant reports as the king's face changes into a more solemn one.

  "...And my children?"

"...We have received no word so far, Your Grace," the servant informs the king, who eerily grins.

"...Good. They were useless, anyways," the king says as he lays back down, tossing the bedsheets away as the woman covers herself with her hands.

"Your Grace...?" the servant mutters in shock at the king's cruel words.

"Tell the intelligence unit this- Lavia is no longer our problem; it hasn't been in a very long time. In layman's terms- I. Don't. Care. Now leave us be," the king tells the servant as he pushes the woman back down onto the bed. The servant quickly leaves and makes his way past Samuel, walking away as moans echo throughout the royal halls.
