Chapter 2: Zora

Zora was terrified, but determined at a shot for freedom. She also couldn’t let her secret out that she was a princess, so she needed to hide while doing the task. The two days consisted of training her mind, which helped relieve the trauma after she was certain her ability was under control. The plan was simple. Penetrate the minds of the princes and king while they are having dinner, and report the findings back to father. There were many places to hide in the large room, so staying out of sight wasn’t a problem. She had to be careful though– the princes were supposedly immensely powerful, and one slip up could cause Velar to collapse. She sighed, and slipped into a plain and ragged dress. Zora had wished to dress up like her sisters, but alas, she was fated to a different life. As she looked out her window, she saw a fleet of soldiers and a carriage encrusted in black jewels. The Umbral Family Had Arrived.

Her curiosity got the best of her as she watched the tall figure step out. She was able to get a decent view, and once she caught a glimpse of his face, she couldn't stop staring– black hair, light tanned skin, and stormy grey eyes. What was wrong with her? She didn't notice how long she’d been staring until the pair of eyes glanced around and eventually flickered towards the very window she was standing behind. A gasp slipped through her lips as she hid beside the curtain. Zora reassured herself that he couldn’t have possibly seen her, considering she was slightly high up and there were many windows lining the palace. She set herself straight and quietly made her way to her hiding spot in the dining hall, ready to take on her mission.
