Chapter 26: The Opening Ceremony
Xiao Tian's matter has come to an end, it's already 7:30, and it's time to attend the opening ceremony. The two brothers went to have breakfast together, and after using a teleportation stone, they arrived at the Tian Jue Yan Wu arena, where many people had already gathered.
At 8:30, almost all the teachers and students had arrived. The college leaders were seated in the central arena, while the teachers sat in their respective arenas. The old and new students were separated, either standing or sitting around the arenas. The parents who accompanied the new students could only stand at the periphery of the martial arts field. My brother and I found a good spot to sit down. Looking around, it seemed that the new students took up about three-quarters of the circle, with around 50,000 to 60,000 people. Of course, these were just the ones who had come to register; they still needed to pass the test to be considered college students.
The opening ceremony was very simple: first, the college leaders gave a speech, then there was an award ceremony, and finally, each mentor was assigned to lead some new students. The mentors were all excellent students from grades 3-9 who volunteered to form a team of 500-600 senior students.
At 9:00 sharp, the opening ceremony officially began.
The leader spoke, and everyone's line of sight was drawn to the central stage. The view from the central stage is very good, and you can see it from any corner of the performance venue. I only noticed three people sitting on the central stage: Principal Tianba, Logistics Building Director Tianqingyan, and Public Course Representative Tianyunyan.
Additionally, I learned from my brother that the middle-aged man standing to the left of Tian Ba is Vice President Zhang Anbang, who is in charge of all matters related to the Wenwu class; the middle-aged man with a prosperous appearance standing to the right of Tian Ba is Vice President Long Hongnang, who is in charge of all matters related to the Wen class; and the one standing next to Tian Qingyan is Vice President Yang Yingchen of the Wu class. Don't be fooled by her name - she's the only female vice president and also the vice president of the Wu class. With her robust physique and fierce aura, she exudes a strong woman's presence, making her the second student nightmare in the college, rivaling Tian Qingyan.
These leaders also had instructors who were one level below them in the military and literary classes, including instructors for refinement, energy, physical training, literature, and strategy. The last was Tian Zhenrong, the unpredictable director of academic affairs, who could be warm and elegant at times, strict at others, and sometimes like a close relative.
The leader spoke, and everyone was a high-ranking cultivator. With just one sentence, the whole scene became clear. The content was nothing more than a brief self-introduction, followed by a warm welcome to the new students, then an analysis of the mainland's situation, expressing great expectations for the newcomers, encouraging them to study hard, for the sake of a brighter future for the mainland...
Of course, the fact that I'm not interested in this kind of speech doesn't mean others aren't. Just look at those students, who isn't listening with passion, shouting and cheering as if they can't wait to rush onto the battlefield.
The award ceremony was even more lively, with awards for outstanding teachers and staff, as well as the top ten students in each grade. Of course, the graduating class of tenth graders was not included (more on that later).
First, the Dean of Academic Affairs, Tian Zhenrong, read out the list of award winners. The ones that left a deep impression on me were outstanding instructors Tian Yunyan, Mei Ankun, Xiao Yuxue, Yang Yonggui, Huang Yonggang, Du Xiuping...
Ninth grade first place Wu Ban Yang Xinghai, eighth grade first place is a familiar face Wu Ban Tian Mei Gui, seventh grade first place Wen Ban Tian Chenchen, sixth grade first and second place are Wenwu Ban Liu Zhenzhen, Ren Yi Ri Ji Wo Ge; fifth grade first place Xue Feng Qiao, fourth grade first place Xue Bi Cui, third grade first place Xue Ya Meng, surprisingly all three same-surname girls, and all from Wenwu Ban; second grade first place is Wenwu Ban Tan Xian Neng, first grade first place is Wenwu Ban Jun Ru Song...
Then the principal gave awards to outstanding faculty and staff, and three vice principals presented awards to the top ten students in their respective classes. Each time, it triggered a warm applause and cheers, the atmosphere was really hot. Especially when the three boys who came first on stage, I heard some girls shouting:
"Yang Xinghai, I love you, so handsome!"
"You're as stubborn as an old pine tree, it's really infuriating!"
"Tan Xian Neng, wait for me until my hair grows down to my waist, then marry me!"
……
The two brothers were shocked by such a crazy shout.
Careful analysis is not difficult to find that the top ten of Wenwu class are mostly, especially in the first grade below six years old, all of which are Wenwu class. This has something to do with the college's increasing emphasis on both Wen and Wu in recent years. In the past, Wen class was not valued at all, but in recent years, our dean seems to have studied the importance of Wen, and Tianjiao College became the first college that attaches equal importance to both Wen and Wu.
The last thing of course is the allocation of mentors, who will be my mentor? Some anticipation. Soon, the results came out, and unexpectedly found that it was Yang Xinghai, the first place in grade 9, and Tian Chenchen, the first place in grade 7.
One literary class and one martial arts class, assistant rules: literary and martial arts are paired, and literary and martial arts classes can be paired arbitrarily.
It wasn't until later that I found out my brother and Mei Gui were also assistant instructors, they had originally wanted to find me, but my brother was a step too late, and Mei Gui couldn't be paired with Yang Xing Hai from the same martial arts class, so she didn't bring me along. Luckily, Tian Jiao Mei and I ended up on the same team, which turned out to be not a bad result after all.
Each of the two assistant instructors led their 200 junior brothers and sisters to another location for a meeting, marking the end of the opening ceremony.
I walked towards Tian Jiao Mei, smiling and said: "Xiao Mei, we really have a good fate! Hehe."
"She excitedly said: 'Really? I didn't expect to be on the same team as you! Let's participate in the assessment together later, hehe'"
"Alright."
I didn't expect her to bring it up on her own initiative, and I was also very pleased.
At this time, the instructor had chosen a location and led us to a corner of the martial arts arena on the south side for a meeting. The freshmen stood in a circle like primary school students, with one boy and one girl standing in the middle. The boy had a star-shaped eyebrow and a sharp gaze, strong and powerful, he was Yang Xinghai; the girl was plump and charming, lively and lovely, this was our female instructor Tian Chenchen.
"Hello everyone! I suppose you all know by now, I'm your instructor Yang Xinghai from Xingzhong Town. The beautiful lady next to me is your female instructor Tian Chenchen, she's a local. Hope we have a pleasant cooperation during this period!"
After a round of applause, he coughed twice and continued: "Alright, that's all I have to say. Next, please welcome Sister Tian Chenchen to brief you on the specific situation!"
As he spoke, he first started applauding, and after the warm applause, Tian Chenchen chuckled twice, revealing a happy smile, with two small tiger teeth mischievously visible, then opened his mouth to say:
"Hello everyone, I was just introduced by Brother Yang Xinghai, so I won't repeat it; I'm thrilled to be your teaching assistant, do you know? This feeling is really joyful."
"What's that feeling?"
A curious baby asked.
"It's hard to describe, but it's like being a guide for others, leading them to where they want to go, and after opening up a new world, the feeling is..." She explained with a smile, as if she couldn't quite put the feeling into words, adding:
"Looking at you all now, I seem to have seen the me of those years. Later you will know. Everyone must work hard, I hope everyone here can pass the test, do you have confidence?"
"There is..., there is..."
Her sparse and weak responses left her somewhat embarrassed, unsure of what else to say. Yang Xinghai, the senior brother, saw this and thought: This group of kids hasn't even started the trial yet and they've already lost their morale, how can this do? So he exerted his authority, letting out a loud roar:
"Speak louder and give me an answer, is there or isn't there!!!"
The woman's voice replied neatly "Yes!"
He couldn't help but feel a little excited, thinking that this was what it meant to have charisma. On the surface, he looked serious, but his triumphant gaze didn't escape the notice of those who were paying attention. I didn't care about any of this and hadn't paid much attention until Yang Xinghai coughed twice and said:
"Now that you're here, please answer loudly from now on. Let's give a round of applause and ask your senior sister to tell you about the general situation of the annual exam."
I immediately listened attentively, and after a round of applause, Teacher Tian Chenchen didn't get angry at all about the just now awkwardness, still smiling and explaining to us about the test.
The so-called test is divided into two stages: the first stage requires all new students to live in the freshman practice area for three months. The rules are as follows: for the first three days, they will be led by a mentor and live together with nearly 200 people; starting from the fourth day, they will elect a team leader and a deputy team leader to replace the mentor, who will then visit them irregularly to check on their situation. Then, under the leadership of the team leader, they will be divided into groups of three or four, freely combining, with each group selecting a group leader, and each group must have at least one male student. Each group will live separately, and groups are not allowed to help each other during this period. Unless there is an emergency, no one is allowed to leave the freshman practice area; if someone leaves without reason, they will be considered to have failed the test. Only after three months can they come out, having passed the test.
The second stage separates the students into Wen (literary) and Wu (martial) classes for testing. The Wen class is tested on randomly selected questions, while the Wu class is evaluated based on innate talent, first testing physical fitness and then testing the PPS (Prior Power Score). If both are passed, they will be assigned to the Wenwu class.
After that, Tian Chenchen also informed some matters needing attention, such as purchasing some essential items, those things cannot be brought, and violating the rules will not be allowed to participate in the assessment. Considering that many things need to be brought for the practice, the college provides each new student with a one-cubic-meter storage container, which must be returned when leaving. The materials can be filled into the storage container, but no more is allowed, so new students are not allowed to bring more storage containers and packages privately.
The final announcement of the test time is tomorrow morning at 8 o'clock gathering here, and then go to the new life practice place together.
After dispersing, everyone went to prepare separately.
