Laughing and waving to their neighbors who were still out on their patios enjoying the comfort of the warm summer night, Kimberly and Saanvi headed into their little section of a four-story condominium complex. Arm in arm the couple made their way up the multi-ptform stairs and after a small rest to fan one another pyfully, they reached their non-descript tan steel door that had a silver iny that dispyed ‘D3’. Although the door had a biometric pad that either woman could use, Kimberly stopped and pulled her small ‘Marc Jacob’ purse from her shoulder and twisted its tiny chrome lock and dug through until she found her keys.
“Ah.” Kimberly wiped a small bead of sweat from her forehead. “Keeeeysss.” She jingled and dangled them in front of Saanvi pyfully. “How long did that take?”
“Longer than just pressing your finger to the button, KC.” Saanvi replied and quickly snapped the keys from her partner’s hand. “Too slow, much too slow.” Wiggling the key into the lock, the long raven-haired woman opened their door to a rush of cold air. “If you’d just take five minutes to set up the software for the pad, we’d already been inside.” Saanvi daintily fluttered her eyeshes and waved her hand inside. “After you, dear.”
Once they’d finished with their twin performances, the two went into their normal orderly routine. Kimberly flipped on the lights and took Saanvi’s purse and hung it with her own on a small wooden stand by the door. Saanvi by contrast unbuckled their shoulder holsters and after opening a small safe, pced both firearms within it. Kim in turn picked up Saanvi’s open-toed sandals and pced them on a shoe rack within a small closet on the way to their bedroom. Saanvi spun the combination, tested the handle and then headed to the kitchen where she quietly pulled down rge mason jars, filled them with ice and then filled them with tea before heading back through the living room and into their bedroom. Quickly taking her own jar, Kim took a heavy sip and then took Saanvi's emerald hairpins out and admired how Saanvi’s long bangs quietly hid her merry and keen green eyes. With a sly wink, Saanvi whisked her waist-length hair behind her and sipped her own tea and then unclipped Kim’s straight shoulder-length brown hair and unceremoniously tossed both hair effects onto their shared vanity.
Kimberly Craft, or KC as she was known by her friends and colleagues, stood an average height and weight for a woman in her mid-forties. Intentionally, Kim had fashioned herself to be as average as possible and with her light-brown eyes and basic curved hairstyle for her brown-gray hair looked nearly identical to any brunette woman. It was only within the walls of her condo that Kim showed any fir for life. Along her side of the bed, her end table was covered in pictures of her rge six-sibling family and their outings when they were children. Buried in the center of the pictures was a blue and red clock that bore a huge ‘S’ in the shape of Superman’s logo and pyed the hallmark movie tune for its arm. Hung neatly and in a small line, Kimberly dispyed all of the accomplishments that she’d gathered through the years. Three dispyed her degrees in Forensic Science, Biology and Chemistry followed by her governmental accodes as a veteran of the US Marines and graduate of both the Virginia State Police Academy and the CIA Counterintelligence Department. A virtual lifetime of service hidden from view much like their owner.
“You know how I feel about that pad. I do not want some public service to have access to my fingerprint or anything else that could identify me, Vi.” KC took another sip of her tea and made room for the cold jar on her small table. “Plus, we looked into the company that installed the tech when the condos were built and what did we find?” She smiled and sat down on the bed and unclipped her earrings before stretching out with her arms over her head. “Just a little quiz, dearheart.”
“Oh, now you want to py?” Saanvi quipped and once she’d removed her own simple jewelry, shook out her hair and spyed on the bed beside her partner before she gazed longingly with her soulful verdant eyes. “You get like this whenever we watch those movies, babylocks.” Saanvi reached over and cupped KC’s cheek lightly, “I am telling you, I remember everything you have taught me.” She winked, “Though I could do without the testing in … bed.” She leaned up on her elbow and whispered, “I should have told you no to this ‘Borne’ film festival, you and the crowd are all a little touched…” She took her index finger and tapped KC’s temple. “…right there.”
Fifteen years younger than her lover Saanvi Wilcox had developed her own life in a simir yet distinctive way to that of her partner of three years. While she did stand a few inches taller than KC, it was the fact that Saanvi, or Vi as others called her, had the figure of a well-rounded female bodybuilder. Initially a rather plump young child, Saanvi in her teenage years found a certain comfort in weightlifting and used it to change her appearance and her attitude. While still reserved because of her initial upbringing, Vi had found out that as she grew bigger and more defined that others listened to her when she took the time to speak. Now both physically capable and socially sound, Vi catapulted herself into the US Army and distinguished herself as a fine policewoman. All through her twenties, Vi took all the military courses she could as well as majoring in Mathematics and Criminal Justice. It was the combined education and experience that allowed Vi to become the youngest detective that the Virginia State Police had hired. It was during a seminar on cartel violence that the green-eyed dy met KC.
“You aren’t going to be satisfied until I actually answer your ridiculous cim.” Saanvi ran her green nails along KC’s arm, in little circles. “What is really funny about this, Kay…” Saanvi used a nickname that she knew would garner a little annoyance. “…is that I am the one that followed the trail of companies and it stopped at the parent company named Twilight Tonight.” She turned KC’s chin to face her. “No further information known, or cssified.” Vi leaned closer to her lover, “How’d I do…teacher?”
Carefully rubbing her chin and making sure that she wouldn’t turn and fall prey to Vi’s captivating green eyes, KC took a deep breath and then let out a long low humm. “I am not super certain.” Lifting Vi’s hand to her lips, KC gave each digit a little peck. “You kinda gave up on the st lead. I mean it’s obvious that Twilight Tonight has some kind of owner and I don’t mean that tanned god that stands in front of the cameras…” KC licked her lips pyfully. “You know the guy that has your physique.”
“I enjoy that you called him a god while you y there and lick my fingers.” Saanvi commented and jokingly pulled her away. “Didn’t I see a book somewhere with the cover ‘Lesbianism 101’ by Kimberly Craft?” Thrumming her fingers pyfully on her own well-defined thigh, Saanvi kept up her little act. “I could always yeet myself out of the bed to make room for your god.”
“Where the fuck…” KC covered her eyes with her hands as she chuckled hard enough to shake the bed with her bubbly gasps. “...Did you hear that damned word?” She wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes that had immediately formed, “The scary part is that you almost used it right…I think.”
