“Hey KB, did you pack all your stuff? Mom said we’ll go to Diagon Alley tomorrow but we gotta stay with granny Margaret until it’s time for you to go to Hogwarts.” a cheerful, lively voice entered through the door.
A young boy sat inside the room with his wand raised. Multiple items floated in the air around the cauldron that was in front of him. A few small oval shaped beetles were getting crushed by two medium sized flat stones, a long ginger root was getting cut into extremely thin slices along with four more ingredients.
“Yeah, packed everything.” the boy said quickly, trying to make sure he didn’t mess up since controlling all the things in front of him, using magic was extremely taxing on his mind.
But this ended up with him making a small mistake. He had made a slightly bigger cut on the ginger root.
‘That’s fine, I’ll cut it into multiple pieces later.’ he thought as he heard his sister scream, something that he was used to by now.
“Aaaah! Merlin’s Beard! Mmmmm my toeeee!”
He smiled slightly as he saw small bubbles form on the edges and dropped twelve extremely thin slices of ginger root inside. While he did this, he remembered his mom’s words and muttered to himself.
“Shimmering is key. Too hot, and it’ll ruin the ginger.”
He then stirred it three times clockwise with a wooden spoon, watching as the water turned pale yellow. Time quickly passed as he followed the instructions in his head, stirring and adding the ingredients one by one.
Just like that, forty minutes passed and the boy pointed his wand at the window, opening it with a slight flick. The cauldron floated close to the window and began to emit a silvery white smoke.
‘Now, let it absorb the moonlight for extra potency. One minute should be fine since it’s full moon tonight.’ he thought as he waited and once one minute passed, he brought the cauldron back onto the small stove.
He got up from his stool and pointed his wand at the fire, “Finite.”
The fire vanished and he quickly strained the potion into a huge container with a wide grin on his face. He closed the lid and rushed towards the door, only to stop inches from it.
“Oops.” he whispered as he rushed back to his bed and opened the huge trunk that was on it. Then, he gently wrapped the wand with a thick cloth before placing it inside the trunk.

“Everything’s ready now.” he muttered and looked around his small room before heading out.
He ran down the steps and skidded to a halt in the living room, through which he got a clear view of his mother who was in the kitchen, leisurely cooking some dinner for the family.
“Look who’s finally out of his smelly cave. Keith, the great wannabe potions master!” he heard a familiar voice and turned around.
He saw his sister chuckling as her hair turned from black, to pink and then to violet in a repeating circle.
“You’re just jealous that I’m better than you, dad.” Keith said as he puffed up his chest and looked at his mother, “Isn’t that right, mom?!”
His mother gave him a short glance and went back to focusing on her pots and pans, “Ted, stop messing around and get things ready will you?”
Ted sighed and got to his feet, “On it, Andy.” he said as he headed towards Keith’s room.
Keith watched his dad leave the room and then turned to look at his sister with a smirk, “Hey Nymphy, are you still training for your aurora thing?”
“Firstly, I’ll kill you if you call me that! And it’s called Auror training not aurora.” she said, clearly annoyed by the kid in front of her.
Keith opened his eyes wide exaggeratedly before running to the kitchen as he shouted, “Mooom!! Nymphy said she wants to kill meeee!”
Before she could say a word, “Nymphy” shouted from the living room, “I didn’t mean it mom, you know that.”
Keith hugged his mom and he felt her sigh, “Nymphadora.”
Her voice was stern and straight as she turned around to look at her daughter who had just walked into the kitchen. While the mother and son duo watched, she tripped and fell face first onto the floor.
Instead of getting back up, she banged her fist on the floor and groaned, “Why did you give me such a lame nameeee?! Why couldn’t you just name me Dora or something?”
“Well, you do call him KB don’t you? You gave him a loving nickname and he also calls you Nymphy lovingly.” Andromeda said as she watched her daughter get back up slowly.
Tonks rubbed her red nose as she looked at Keith, who was smirking and this frustrated her beyond measure. She looked up at her mother pleadingly.
“But, that’s just a short form of his name. KB calls me Nym- THAT. Just to annoy me!”
Andromeda raised her eyebrow, “You came to me grinning and told me how much you loved it when Keith called you Nymphy didn’t you? How come you hate it now?”
“I…. Ugh! You always side with him!” Tonks yelled and ran upstairs, leaving the mother and son pair alone in the kitchen.
Andromeda went back to stirring the pot like this was a daily occurrence.
“Keith, put the plates on the table and help me out will you? I need four sunny side up omelettes and-”
“And each one of them gotta have two eggs.” Keith ended the sentence for her as he ran over to the dining table and grabbed a chair. He dragged it over to the cooking area and climbed onto it before he got to work.
As he cooked his third omelette, he glanced at Andromeda, “Mom… can we go to St Mungos? Neville wrote to me saying that he’s gonna visit his parents tomorrow and I also want to go.”
Andromeda silently looked at him and let go of her ladle before placing her hand on his head, “Of course. We’ll go and visit your mother together, okay?”
