We y in bed as she lit up a cigarette. “I think I get it now. That was absolutely the best sex I’ve ever had. I didn’t know I could cum more than once and I have to get myself the rest of the way there most of the time.” She took in a deep sigh. “So, what else happened to me? You kind of skimmed over what happened to me when Jake betrayed you, but we worked at the same base. You probably saw me skulking around after that, right?”
I tried to think. “Not really. Most of the girls were separated from the people who were loyal to him. He viewed me as a tool he earned from killing Jake, and saw me trying to steal from his territory as an insult, so he kept me separated from most… Although I did see you a few months ter, and you looked a little happier than you were with Jake.” I ughed. “God, that’s crazy. You were happier as a sve than as Jake’s girlfriend.”
She rolled over and ran circles over my chest with her finger. “So… Where their any other girls in that different timeline?” I had to get over it. I could do everything right, so there was no reason to be upset about it anymore, and maybe telling her what happened would help me get over it. “I had lots of sex, but it was more give and take. I was useful to the leaders of survivor groups, so I got to have a woman, and she got to eat because she was with me. There was one, though, one I really, truly loved.”
I leaned over and looked into her eyes. “I pn on bringing her into this with us after the initial rain and blizzard… Her name was Sophia, or Sophie, and… She was my everything that first time through.” I couldn’t help but remember how happy I was back then. “Things still weren’t that bad. We were part of a pretty small survivor town with less than a thousand people… We had to scavenge for food to get by but it was nice.” I paused as I thought about what to tell her, and didn’t include many details about our retionship.
“Her power was animal control, and she was a higher up in the town, not the leader, but she held enough sway that if she went against him, he might back down if she made a good enough point… She was shot in the back of the head by that dead man down in the basement. I’d have been killed too if his gun hadn’t jammed. He tried to make a run for it, but I chased him down and bashed his head against the ground until he died… He begged for his life, but I just kept smming him into the ground until his ears started to bleed. God, I wish I’d have kept him alive back then… He deserved to be tortured for killing her.”
Vicky interrupted me. “I don’t want to interrupt you, but all this manly talk you’re doing is making me wet.” Vicky went to college for psychology, so when she saw me spiraling, she said something ridiculous to get me out of my own head. She used to do that a lot when I zoned out and started thinking about work before. “Yeah? You ready for round three?”
Laughing, she replied. “Oh hell no. My pussy is still on fire right now, it’s gonna take a day before I can walk again. Speaking of which, can you take me to the toilet? I got to take a shit.” What a huge difference between the two. Melissa was embarrassed and could barely ask me while Vicky didn’t give a shit and was very difficult to embarrass.
I kept going. “She’s bck, by the way. I hope you don’t mind.” Vicky ughed. “Like I care. Just don’t get another quirky blonde with a pixy cut who likes to nibble on your chin, and we’re good.” We watched the news as a helicopter flew over the water as it made its way over nd. It looked so slow and disarming, like it wasn’t a world-ending threat. The small wave they showed was only the initial one; hundreds of smaller waves would keep adding more and more water to the area before it finally receded and headed back to the ocean almost a month ter.
“As you can see, the giant wave that hit Canada has already diminished in size dramatically. We still think you should bunker down and take a day or two off to prepare for the flooding this will bring.” The bck news reporter spoke before the blonde female reporter took it from there. “That’s right, Tom. It’s better to bunker down if you have food; there will be relief centers that will open up after the initial wave. Jerry, can we get a possible wave indication on the weather system?”
It cut to a white weather reporter who stood in front of a screen. “Thanks, Jen! Yes, as you can see in the red, that’s where the wave has already hit. The wave is only moving at about forty miles an hour, but we don’t recommend you to try and outrun it. We recommend staying indoors and securing your home from the wave. As you can see here, in the yellow is the expected distance the wave will travel before it starts to peter out, and the green is the area that won’t have to be prepared because they are safe.”
They’re off by a dramatic amount. Even Texas got flooded, and they had the map showing yellow for the top half of the states. I got a call from my boss, as he wasn’t sure we should cancel the work week because we were barely in the red. I told him about what I said yesterday… He brushed off what I said, so now everyone is going to have to fight to get their food, and that’s if he cancelled work.
I kind of remember why I was so burnt out now. The workload was intense and there was often overtime, which was great for my bank account but not for my social life… I honestly couldn’t care less at this point. I tried to warn him, I could have done more, but was it worth it? Either they lived through it or died like they would have the first time.
“Alright… People are going to be going crazy over food, so I’m going to go buy fruit trees and steal guns now, possibly grab another person for our base.” She was halfway through a breakfast burrito as she asked. “Oh? Is it another girl? You're looking to expand the harem already? How could you right after pump and dumping me?” She faked sadness at the st part as I told her. “No, it’s one of my old friends… I need to make sure he doesn’t end up in the same situation, and I might be able to do that by letting him live in my old apartment until the rain stops.”
Right now, he was homeless; he barely survived the rain by breaking into a Dunkin' Donuts, but the gss ripped up his hand, and he got really sick from being wet most of the time. He ended up almost dying from the melon-sized hail and had terrible frostbite, which made it hard for him to walk… All that on top of being schizophrenic. His power was mental based, and that somehow cured him.
He died from the problems he got during the first few months of the apocalypse, but he really helped me through that rough time after Sophie died. I wanted to do right by him, and thankfully, he told me his full story so I’d know where he was now. Victor was a bck old man who would beg people outside the alcohol store for money to buy alcohol. After he was cured, he pretended that the part of his life when he was homeless didn’t happen and started acting like a reverend again.
His listening to my problems and giving me advice might have been the only reason I survived as long as I did without giving up on life.
