Vd sat in the limousine, gncing at Dyn through the rearview mirror.
They've been driving for a while in silence, his master clearly looking impatient. He was tapping his foot on the expensive carpet, looking out the window with a sour expression on his face. Those were all signs Vd knew very well from his experience being hos assistance.
However, he tried not to let his thoughts linger on Dyn for too long, still needing to focus on the road he was driving in.
Lately, Dyn has been requesting to go to the same pce once or twice a day, and he insisted that he wouldn't be the one driving. He was seeing a friend, he'd always say, and that any further information was cssified.
The friend he was seeing was one of his workers, that much Vd knew, and although he had initially thought that it was about business, it was rather obvious that there was more to that.
For one, the man his boss was seeing, who's name he learnt was Cir has been hanging around his office a lot for the past month or so.
In addition to that, they acted far from... professional, Vd would put it.
Before he could think about it further, Vd spun the wheel sharply, just barely missing the turn he was supposed to take into a parking lot. A hotel parking lot.
Stopping the car, he turning his head back to his master. "We've arrived." He announced stoically, his face not betraying any emotion, like he knew his boss preferred. It was more comfortable that way, anyway, as he wasn't allowed to judge his master like that and if his face betrayed emotion, he would be caught.
Dyn’s head immediately perked up, and without another word, he quickly opened the car door and left. At least he closed it after he left, Vd thought, as usually he would be too distracted to even do that.
He often wondered what his master found in a woman like Cir, always talking about him as if she was an angel.
At first, Cir seemed to almost dislike Dyn. She would act uncomfortable around him, likely unused to his boss's touchy nature. If he were honest, most people were, at least except for him. He’d been working for their family since he could remember himself, his family living in poverty and finding shelter in the Doresson mansion’s walls. He knew Dyn and his brother since they were kids, and even if they’d never been close, he did get to know him quite well over the years. One of the things he’d learned about him was that he didn’t like nor open up to strangers.
With Cir, however, it was different. He acted exceptionally dramatic, especially in how much affection he showed. He would barely leave her any personal space, sometimes even when he was pushed away or told to stop. Though Vd suspected it was more pyful protests than anything.
Most of the time, he accepted her as she was, but there was something that bothered him about her.
After the first few times he saw her, she started getting bold and overstepping his boundaries. She talked back to Dyn when the man got too touchy or prodded into her private life too much, sometimes even swatting his hands away or raising her voice at him.
If it were anyone else, Dyn would immediately order them to be thrown away from him and to never even get to breathe the same air as his godly presence, but not with Cir.
Cir was different.
He allowed her to step down on him. He let her act as bitchy and impolite as she wanted, which caused her to slowly get bolder and bolder the more she did so. If anything, Dyn even seemed to enjoy his moves and advances getting rejected, going back and forth in a cycle of teasing that never ends.
Vd sighed. He shouldn't be thinking about this. It wasn't any of his business.
Although, with how much Dyn talked to him about Cir and for some reason asked him for advice, it just might as well be.
He snapped out of his thoughts once again as he caught a blob of pink in the distance from his car window, regaining his attention. Dyn was back; with Cir in tow, of course.
As the two entered the car, neither of them acknowledged Vd, which was nothing new. Although, as he gnced at the rear view mirror for a check, he couldn’t help but notice that something was different. Sure, it wasn't the first time they were being awfully pyful with each other despite both of their natures, but something about Cir looked… off, he would put it.
She was blushing.
Blushing.
He never thought he'd get to see the day of such a cold and indifferent woman act so flustered around his master. Cir was grumbling, scooting away from Dyn as they put their seatbelts on, and occasionally calling him something like a ‘moron’ or a ’birdhead’ in an unserious fashion.
It made Vd's blood boil to hear his master treated with such disrespect, and his hands clenched around the steering wheel as a response.
He turned his head to look back at the two, clearing his throat.
"Where to, young sir?" He asked.
Dyn grinned at the formality he insisted they treat him with, before giving an answer as he wrapped an arm around Cir's shoulders. "Back home," He instructed.
Cir blinked, surprised at the nickname, despite scoffing at the arm around her shoulders right afterwards and scooting away. Vd huffed seeing her reject Dyn's action.
"'Young' sir?" She questioned, "Just how old are you?"
Not wanting to watch any longer, Vd turned back to the road, sighing as he sped up the car and started driving away. However, he could still hear Dyn respond with "You don’t know, huh~ How old do I look, Crumbs?"
"Don't call me that," Cir responded, no real harshness in her voice. "Hard to tell with those ugly gsses always on your voice. I don't know, 25?"
Vd clutched at the steering wheel, feeling rage start to wash over him. How dare this girl tell his master what to do? The nerve she has to speak to him with a tone so vile... And imply that he was some an old man? Bsphemy.
"25? You wound me," Dyn ughed, his arm not budging one bit. "I'm 22, actually~"
At the revetion of his real age Cir practically choked, her eyes widening. "2-22?!" She excimed, sounding like she just found out he killed his father. "I'm 27, you- you're practically a child,"
Vd scoffed under his breath. How did he let her speak so lowly of him? He wanted to shut it out of his ears, but he couldn’t help listening. This was for his boss. His master. His whole life was to serve him. He should do the best for him, even if it means telling this girl off after the ride.
"You're so old, Crumbs… No wonder you're always so grumpy~" Dyn teased, poking at her side which earnt a gre.
"Grumpy?" Cir huffed, swatting his hand away once again. “Then you're a baby. An emotional, whiny little brat, who can't keep his hands to himself."
That crossed too many lines for Vd at once, and he was so close to breaking character. He was supposed to be this emotional rock wall, always being there to serve Dyn whenever and with whatever he needed. It’s been like that since they were kids. He used to be much kinder, though. He used to offer him extra food when he ate, give him old clothes and buy him birthday gifts. Nowadays he just ignores him, but he doesn’t compin. He never does.
He knows what’s best for his master. And this girl? It wasn’t it. So why was Dyn smiling and pying along like he enjoyed it?
"Awh, you really think so? Maybe you should call me baby, then~" He joked, starting to lean into the other man with his eyebrows lifted suggestively, face in a leer.
Cir rolled her eyes, leaning away from him as if his comments bothered her when clearly, she was the one in the wrong. "In your dreams," she scoffed. "I was just saying that you act like a child, and look like one too."
Undeterred, Dyn smirked, continuing to smirk as he leaned closer and closer to her. "Do I now?~" He hummed, moving in a position that any view Vd did have of the two was blocked by his giant feather coat.
"You'd say you're old enough for me to call you Mommy~?"
If Vd hadn't had a death grip on the steering wheel, he would have crashed the car from the way he froze up at the comment, and he could only imagine that Cir too, and did far worse by the sound of her offended gasp.
Oh.
....
Oh.
So that's why his master was acting so strange about this girl. That's why he talked about her so often. That's why he kept asking him to drive them everywhere.
And how was Cir treating Dyn in response? Like this.
He toned out the rest of their conversation as his usually emotionless expression turned to stern anger, just barely managing not to mutter anything under his breath. He had to stay calm.
Dyn deserved better, the type of love only those worthy of him could give. Only the prettiest, most divine women, that knew their role and wouldn’t overstep it. A girl that was meant for him and only for him.
All of that was the exact opposite of this ‘Cir’. When Vd first met her, he almost thought she was a man from how she looked, and didn’t understand how Dyn could ever like a woman like that. Why a woman like that would ever think Dyn liked her.
she didn't deserve him. She needs to act better.
She needs to be taught better.
Vd managed to wait until they got to a red light and he had to stop the car before he turned slightly to look at the two. The thoughts in his head were so loud that he blocked out any other sound, although after taking a moment to breathe he could hear everything that was going on pretty well. And, well see.
Needless to say, the sight of your boss pining his partner to a car seat as they sloppily made out wasn't exactly a sight Vd fancied watching for any longer.
Being Dyn’s personal assistant had its perks, although it most certainly has its disadvantages.
One of them being getting treated like his therapist.
He at least comforted himself with the knowledge that it was better than being a 24/7 diary like his brother. And while Vd wasn't exactly the best person for advice, he always did his best for his master, even studying a bit about psychology on his few breaks or during the nights to understand him better. The man deserved perfection and nothing less, being a practical god in his eyes. Yet, he could never understand why someone as important as his boss would want to date a mere peasant like Cir.
Of course, he expined to him that they were soulmates, but it still confused Vd to no end. Why Cir?
She was a pathetic scumbag who didn't appreciate or treat Dyn right. She didn't understand that he had no power and his boss should be allowed to do whatever he wanted. He’d never understand how he lets her treat him with such disrespect.
Their retionship was, to put it simply, enigmatic; even if Dyn constantly ranted to him about it.
Currently, he was sitting in his master's bedroom, settled on the comfortable couch adorned with pink and golden feathers looking like it came out of a movie set. Dyn was sitting in front of him on his pink king-sized bed, perfectly sized for someone tall like himself. He was grinning from ear to ear, as he did whenever he talked about Cir. Vd wasn't sure if he should be mad at her for stealing his boss’s heart or just happy for them.
"I just don't know what to do with her," Dyn whined after he finished recalling his st experience with Cir in detail too explicit for Vd to listen to without feeling nauseous. "We've been… well, ‘going at it‘, if you know what I mean, forever now! But she still doesn't let me call her my girlfriend."
Vd nodded, trying to think what advice he could offer. He'd never been in a proper retionship, not having the time for stupid things like that, but he had common knowledge and a bit more than that after researching the topic for a while.
"You should try to sit her down and have a conversation about this. You shouldn't let her use you like that."
In response, Dyn only huffed, his smirk fshing brighter as he spoke his next words. "You say he's the one using me after I told you what I did to him, huh?~" He chuckled, still continuing to make jokes at a time like this. "And you're right, I should do that... but there's a little problem."
"How come?"
"Well, it's not a big problem, more of a… dey. She has a kid."
Vd's eyes went wide at the revetion, wanting to sp his own forehead at the stupidity. How did his master keep getting himself into these situations?
"A child? Is the father still in the picture?"
The question caused Dyn to smirk, which almost scared Vd. It was a sinister, cat-like smirk, that only meant one answer was possible.
"No, no, I wouldn’t dare do that to another man," He said, his voice clearly implying that was a lie, “They’d broken up… three weeks ago, I’d say? He doesn’t like the boy anyway, but I’d take him in. Beats having no friends for Law around.”
Vd took a breath, trying to understand the situation more clearly. By this logic, did Dyn break them up? That is… a horrible thing to do, even if it was he who did that. Destroy a loving family just so he could date the mother. The mother who looks like a middle aged man and is 5 years older than him.
Right.
"Young sir, I beg of you, you must reconsider. Are you sure you want someone like her as your partner? The one you eventually marry? Someone like that to represent your family? We already have Rosinante with his adopted orphan, but another child that isn’t blood connected?”
At his choice of words, Dyn’s expression immediately dropped, making Vd almost flinch. He scowled, slowly getting up and putting his hands behind his back. Vd had never seen him with such anger directed at himself. It hurt him to no end knowing that he caused his master to feel this way.
"‘Someone like her’? You mean a beautiful, amazing woman, that’s twice the person you’ll ever be? Do you have any idea how much she means to me? You shouldn’t dare speak about her in this… this disgusting tone of yours! Do you really have that little respect for me? If you slip up like that again, I will get you and that poor little family of yours fucking beheaded for all I care. Remember your damn pce.
You are nothing compared to her.”
Vd could feel his heart break further and further with every word Dyn used to stomp on him. He’d never yelled at him this much, and he already wanted to break character and cry. Everything he’d done for this man, all to be treated like he was nothing for some woman? What did she have that he didn’t? What made her so special? Why didn’t Dyn treat him the same way he treated her?
At that point, he could only sit there and listen, knowing that he had no power in this situation. He was going to be good, unlike Cir, and not say anything.
This was what he was meant to do. He overstepped his boundaries, and now he was to bear the punishment.
The worst thing was that Dyn wasn't shouting, he was snarling. He was clearly mad, but his words sounded more like threats than anything else.
Vd was clearly intimidated, and he found it hard not to cry as he listened to the man speak about him like that. Knowing that everything he said was true. As if to add to his pitty party, a small tear ran down his cheek, which he was too stunned to do anything about.
His boss only scoffed louder seeing the tear, crossing his arms over his chest. "You’re a pathetic excuse for an assistant." He spat, before going quiet for a few moments. “But you’re… right, somewhat.” His words were slow, as if it pained him to admit it, which it really looked like it did.
”I… apologize. I shouldn’t have said all that, but you can’t talk about her this way. She’s special, and I don’t care if only I can see that. You serve me, and you will serve her too however she likes.”
Vd slowly nodded, letting the weight of the words sink in. Not once in his life has this man never apologized to him, especially after exploding this much. He could tell it was taking a toll on him, Dyn’s face turning red either from anger or stress he wasn’t sure, but he accepted it. He would always accept it.
For the first time in god knows how long, he managed a small smile.
”Of course.” He mumbled, his voice missing its usual confidence, which wasn’t hard to expect because of what had just happened, but he still appreciated the moment regardless.
Maybe he doesn’t need to depend on this man’s attention for his own happiness.
He wasn’t even sure if it was Cir or Dyn who was the princess needing saving in this story if this is how he turned after only weeks of knowing her.

Enjoy your character development fillers. Vd is Russian, speaks with a heavy accent.
