3 - Worth It

"The people you see here are those who have a guaranteed place in the college if they can get the mage, magician, or apprentice class today." Said an old man at the front of the nearly empty room. All four other seated potential students seemed bored out of their skulls. "The unlock methods will be told to you by the initial training teachers, who will enter shortly."

A short droning speech that could be summed up as just don't fight without permission later, three other old people walked in as the one on stage teleported away. The youngest looking one, seeming about 80 but mages age weird, said in a surprisingly gruff voice for a grandma "Alright, you all have 10 minuets to speak among yourselves while we set up for your class obtainment."

As the words left her mouth a woman about a year younger than me strode in my direction. Before long she stood before me and said, "I don't recognize you from the interviews last week, how did you get clear to come here today?"

  "Nepotism, for the most part."

"And you're just admitting it? Aren't you worried that people would be angry about that fact?" She spoke with a very forced smile covering barely concealed rage.

"I'm counting on it, my main class is a social that grows from making people angry." I responded with an obnoxious grin and double finger guns.

"If sir Issac heard about this you wouldn't be so cavalier about this."

"Yeah, uncle Issac would love a way to expel me without angering aunt Amanda. Too bad she knows that I won't do anything against the rules, if only by technicality."

"Uncle Issac? Your related to Issac Claus, the dean of admissions here?"

"Technically I'm only related to Amanda Claus, but she married him."

"He hates nepotism, why would he get you in here?"

"I am fully qualified and have a powerful stat amplification skill. And he has a wife who could get me into any class school I want with a word, because she wants to see how I get to the entertaining fates I could have."

"Why would she know your fates?"

"You know who my uncle is, but don't know who he married? How do you know about Issac Claus and his hatred of nepotism, but not how his wife Amanda is the highest level seer in the world?"

"But the highest level seer is Amanda Lizt, not ... Oh." And with that she left dispirited for the first time.

Several minuets later I was sitting with the apprentice class.
