Multiple large events began or occurred in the 1980s. Although at least two of them would only become important to the rest of the world much later. In 1981, Meredith Koarden was born to the owners of Koarden Industries. A genius; even from birth, the girl was given everything she ever needed to succeed, all she needed to do was push herself.
Which she did- in fact she did it with a vigor and single-minded focus that surprised everyone. It was only much later in life that it was revealed she was on the autism spectrum. Technology inherently made sense to her. It was orderly, and it followed directions. People and emotions didn’t, so while she didn’t mind being touched, unlike some, she rarely sought out the company of other people.
One year before her birth, on the other side of the world, another child was born. This one was given the name David, and then promptly given to the Russian orphanage. It was there that he grew up, his mind hungry for knowledge, searching the internet that had been developed alongside the International Space Station.
Stolen story; please report.
The number of websites on the internet had exploded in recent years and the amount of information available with them.
In time, he found a small chat forum and began to converse with the other people on it. Learning from them, even as one username began to stand out to him.
They argued, time and again, matching wits through keyboard-enforced battles of the will. Each time learning something from the other. They were both young. That was something they came to understand about the other person.
However, they were both intelligent and used these battles of wit and knowledge to push each other to new heights. On occasion, Meredith even sent David the materials he needed to learn a specific subject. Having them delivered directly to the orphanage.
While these two children were only just beginning to grow, the habitat on the lunar surface had begun construction.
