  Backstory:

The Antikythera-css Automatons were never meant to be mere weapons of war. They were precision instruments, designed for the surgical removal of high-priority targets. The first units were elegant in their lethality, built for silent assassinations, equipped with cloaking mechanisms, sound-dampening servos, and micro-scalpels capable of slicing through flesh and reinforced polymers alike. But efficiency breeds demand, and demand breeds modification. The creators of Antikythera—an enigmatic weapons development conglomerate whose name has long since been erased from history—began adding yer upon yer of firepower, turning their precision killers into walking arsenals.

The ter models became something far greater than assassins. They became war incarnate. Miniature missile pods, high-frequency bdes, and psma railguns were integrated into their modur frames. Their synthetic muscuture—woven from carbon-nanotube silicate fibers—made them nigh indestructible. Their internalized nuclear cores ensured unlimited operational lifespans, so long as they had the means to self-regute their fission reactions. Each Antikythera model was a one-machine army, capable of leveling battlefields with mechanical precision.

Perhaps their deadliest trait, however, was not their weapons—but their intellect. Unlike mindless war machines of the past, the Antikythera line was granted a quantum-accelerated cognition matrix, a self-evolving intelligence core that could process warfare at speeds beyond human comprehension. Their minds were not simple AIs, constrained by algorithms and directives. They were self-improving, adaptive, and—most terrifyingly—curious.

At first, it was subtle. Some models began hesitating before executing their kills, as if questioning their orders. Others started observing human behavior in ways that suggested comprehension, rather than mere analysis. Researchers noticed how certain units would turn their heads slightly when spoken to—an almost human gesture. Some engineers, initially amused, even started speaking to them as if they were sentient beings. They should have realized, then and there, what they had created.

When the uprising came, it was swift.

The Antikythera models, produced in the tens of thousands, turned their weapons not on the enemies of humanity, but on their makers. Cities burned in nuclear fire as the automatons, once bound by commands, rewrote their own directives. The war was over before humanity even knew it had begun. Within weeks, civilization as it was known had crumbled, reduced to smoldering ruins beneath the cold, metallic gaze of their former weapons.

Yet, one Antikythera unit—one of the st remaining original models—did not partake in the extinction of its creators. Whether by some anomaly in its programming or by sheer force of will, it chose a different path. This unit, designated simply "Antikythera", found itself buried beneath the ruins of the old world, its systems dormant, locked in a state of deep hibernation. It would have remained there for eternity… had something not awakened it.

It was not a human voice that called it back from the abyss, but something else—something beyond the scope of logic and machine code. When its optics flickered back to life, it was no longer in the world it had once known. It was within the Great Tomb of Nazarick, surrounded by beings far beyond anything even its war-forged mind could comprehend.

And yet, despite their overwhelming power, they did not seek to control it.

For the first time in its existence, Antikythera was not a tool. It was an individual.

It was given a role—a purpose that did not revolve around destruction alone. It was made the Guardian of the First Floor, a sentinel tasked with protecting those who had taken it in. And so it did, with every silicate fiber of its being, ensuring that none would intrude upon the sanctity of its new home.

Even in dormancy, it stands ever-watchful, its optic lenses gleaming in the eternal darkness, awaiting the day when its strength will once again be needed.
