Chapter 13: Back on the path

"Show us some more good sir!!"

"Yes!! Show us your beautiful dance moves!"

On top of a table within a tavern, Kak-Yak bows his head, wide smile present on his face. "Of course of course everyone, although I'm not really good at dancing, but hey! If you all think it's okay then I'll gladly do some more hahaha!"

From a nearby table, Lyra watched as Kak-Yak entertained everyone within the tavern, the bards music adding to the calming atmosphere.

"Miss Lyra I presume?" Turning to her right, she sees a crow perched on the open window sill next to her. It wore the courier guilds badge on its chest. "Message for you. From the mages guild within the great city."

Using magical means, the crow called forth a letter, said letter gently falling in front of Lyra. "My job is done. Good day lady Lyra."

She watched as the bird flew off. Looking down to the letter, she waste no time in opening it. The inside contents contained a letter addressed to Lyra.

"Greetings Lyra. This is Zelphar from the mages guild. I'm sure you remember me right? Anyways, the guild-master is requesting your assistance with a serious matter. In short, a magical anomaly that we are currently investigating has popped up and has been causing some issues within the region we reside in. We believe that you would be of significant assistance in helping deal with this anomaly. So. Whenever you're finished with whatever it is you do, please journey to our humble guild so that we must discuss the job we have for you. Cheers."

"..." A slight growl sounded from her, albeit with a small smile. Zelphar. She remembered him. He used to be pretty demanding and overall a strict teacher to her and her fellow guild mates, although it was all to make sure they became master mages. She remembered when she first mastered Calm Mind, a spell which helps the caster focus. A simple spell to some, able to be used in and out of combat. To Lyra? A soothing and relaxing thing that helped her meditate. Zelphar was the first to discover her mastery of the spell, and actually congratulated her. So overall, although annoying at times, Zelphar truly cared about the guilds members.

As for the guild master, Lyra remembers her fondly. A sassy and overall flamboyant Quilavi named Aurora. Most new members of the guild would think an elf, or maybe a Suxarine far from home would be guildmaster. They'll immediately become surprised to find a short, slender Quilavi with quite the personality head of the guild. Despite her small size compared to other species, she runs the guild amazingly, making sure all new apprentices and current members have all the things they need in order to become master mages.

Pocketing the letter, Lyra stands up from her seat, adjusting her attire. She crosses her arms and waits for Kak-Yak to finish his goofy performance. Sure enough, he eventually finishes minutes later, doing a flip off of the table as patrons clapped. Atmosphere of the tavern returning to normal, Kak-Yak walks up to Lyra, grinning wide.

"Everyone loved it!!! See?! I AM a good dancer sometimes."

"That was more like random movements to me...but whatever." *shakes head* "Look, I've got important business to do. Need to leave GoldenLeaf city, journey for the mages guild." With a slight blush to her cheek, she spoke more lower and shy like. "If you don't have anything you wish to do, i wouldn't mind if you accompanied me on my way to the guild. Perhaps you could even help me once I arrive. Assist me with whatever the guild will have me do."

Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

Giggling, Kak-Yak placed a paw onto his chest, posing. "I shall be of help!!! The great Kak-Yak shall help you!!! HAHAHAHAHA!! After all that is what friends are for!!!"

"..." *sigh, turning to the entrance* "I'll be getting some things within town before I leave. You should do the same. The journey isn't short."

"I'll follow!!! Oh!! Is it new clothes you'll stock up on?! Or maybe potions?! Scrolls because you're a mage?! Oh I can't wait to see!"

  "..."

With another sigh, Lyra walks out of the tavern, Kak-Yak following behind. Today was rather sunny and cloudy, Kak-Yak thought, giggling at the many cloud formations within the sky. Was it going to rain today he thought? Yes it was sunny out, but who's to say it won't rain later? Turning his gaze back to Lyra, he admired her looks. Her beautiful fur, her gorgeous purple eyes. Something about these simple things made Kak-Yak snicker to himself.

"You've pretty eyes Lyra. And your fur looks well kept and tidy!! Like mines! I hate messy fur...well, sometimes hehehe."

"...Thanks?" She rubs her awkwardly, not used to such complements.

"I once jumped into this nasty pond when I was younger, hehehehe I smelt sooooooo bad for, like, three days! As much as I washed myself the smell just never came out. Turns out some guy kept peeing in the pond in secret! So hey! Source of the stink right there."

"I really didn't need to know about that." She glances to him. "Although I am curious how you managed to get the smell out of your fur."

"Glad you asked!!! Now you see, there's this thing called Stink destroyer right?"

She listened intently to his insane methods of getting rid of such a strong smell out of his fur. She had to admit, his way of telling of past events is...rather unique and hilarious. Well, to her at least.

"You have the most absurd ways of talking about past events."

A short while later, the two arrive in front of an alchemy shop of some kind. Asides from alchemy related things, the shop also sold potions. The two hero's entered the shop, being greeted by a cheerful Zirikey fellow.

"Welcome travelers to my humble establishment. I sell potions, herbs, basically anything an alchemist or low on potion hero needs! Please, feel free to browse."

Lyra began to browse, Kak-Yak walking up to the counter to talk to the shop owner. "Hello!! Um, I have, like, zero clue about anything alchemy or potion related hehehehe. Can you perhaps explain some things to me hehehehehe?"

  "Sure sir!"

The shop owner began to explain the basics of alchemy to our hero, while also explaining the basics of potions. Kak-Yak nodded along. Apparently you could make potions from things!! Like herbs, liquids and other weird stuff!! Is that why all of these plant and odd looking things are in a shop?! WITH these glass bottle...things? At least that's what Kak-Yak thought within his head.

"Woah!!! That's so cool!!" He turns around, Lyra walking up to the counter. "Lyra!! Alchemy is so weird but cool!! Like I can make potions from weird plants and stuff!!!"

"It's way more complicated than that." *Looks to shop owner* "I'd like to buy these items please." She says politely, gently sitting her items onto the counter. Kak-Yak slipped away to go buy some items of his own, browsing the selections. A complete and utter moron when it comes to alchemy, he decided to just pick up some essential potions and head to the counter.

Fast forward the boring buying process and the two exited the shop. They were stocked up on potions now, which only left a few more things for them to gather before heading out of the city.

"Lyra!!! I know this cool shop where we can get better armor and stuff at!!! C'mon on, I'll show you!!!"

"But i already have good ge-"

Before she could finish her sentence, the Suxarine already ran off. Sighing to herself, she quickly followed him.

  ...

  ...

  ...

  Elsewhere

Within the inside of the mages guild, the guild master herself in all her stunning beauty spoke, sitting ever so oddly in her seat.

"So you tell me you failed hmmmmm? Failed to properly investigate, that it?" She jumped onto the table, looking down upon the ones she hired. "Pfft, as if you all could even BEGIN to imagine the situation around here. Shoo, out of my face you band of idiots."

Standing near, an Elven individual donning a mask watched as they left, turning to the guild master. "I told you that hiring them was a bad idea."

Snicker "Which is why i didn't pay them anything. They failed, and so they get no reward." She jumps backwards back into her seat, crossing her legs as she grins. "Anywho's, IM GONNA CAST FIREBALL RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW maybe YES maybe YES probably." *shakes head, turning to the Elf with a grin* "Say. Remember that letter you sent to Lyra? I wonder if she would've gotten it by now hehehehehehe."

"The Courier guilds crows don't delay. She definitely would have gotten the letter at this point." He folds his hands behind his back, walking over to examine a portrait of an infamous hero. "It is only a matter of time until she arrives. She no doubt will be an incredible mage to assist us with this situation we find ourselves in."

*Groan* "Ahhhhhhh, don't remind meeeeeeeeee. You always spoil such fine moments Zelphar, you sly sly rogue." She looks to a map on the table below, grinning. "It's only a matter of time before we SMASH this anomaly right beneath our boot! Hahahaha!" She cackles, her purplish fur glistening in the colorful lights of the room, her refined muscles beautifully contrasting with her fur. "Soon, yes...soon ALL will be in order." *Mischievous smile*
