Death Hand: Well, I did not expect to see you here, bro.
Ren: Neither did I, big brother.
Akjan: Ah, ah, ah
The two of them were sitting cross legged on the ground, sharing drinks and snacks.
Just a moment ago they were trying to kill each other, but now they were acting like old chums.
Worst part was that on closer inspection, they looked alike, really alike, to the point the only way to tell them apart was by their closing.
Death Hand: Still, it is fortunate that your mask slipped off, I came dangerously close to killing you.
Ren: yeah, sadly that happens to me a lot.
Akjan: WOULD SOMEONE EXPLAIN WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON?!
After taking a moment to calm her down, Ren explained.
Ren: Akjan, this is Shen, he is my older twin brother. Shen, meet Akjan, she is my….it feels wrong to call her a subordinate, what are we to each other, again?
Shen/Death Hand: so are you two together, or something?
Akjan: Yes.
Shen: I see. In that case, welcome to the family.
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Shen: Still, the better question would be, how the heck are you still alive?
Ren: ?
Shen: Last time I saw you, you fell to your death, and I have not seen you since, and now we are both no longer in realm of Alem, but Sulum, and I find you here.
Ren: Honestly, I don’t remember.
Shen: there is gotta be reason Master Morphus sent me here and told me to stay and not leave this place under any circumstances…Unless…
Shen placed his palm upon Ren’s brow. In an instant, a mark resembling a letter M appeared on Ren’s forehead.
Shen: I knew it. He is the one who sent you here. And he likely told me to come to this realm so that I could find you. He truly is a magnanimous Master.
Ren: I have no idea what you are talking about. Frankly, I don’t remember much, I can’t even remember my own name.
Shen: Sagyn Finnerman. But usually I call you Sag.
Ren: I see, here I go by Ren, Ren Karatengu.
Shen: Huh?
Ren: Apparently, I, and you too, are of demonic descent, and Karatengu happens to be our clan’s name.
Shen: I am well aware we have demonic blood in our veins, I never thought we belonged to an actual clan though. Are there any other members in this clan?
Ren: only our grandfather. Speaking of, he has no idea you exist, I need to introduce you once the trial is complete!
Shen: That is…yeah, let’s do that. So, we do have living family left. That is…unbelievable.
Shen wiped off his tears, as much as he wanted to cry, this was hardly the time for that.
Shen: I see, either way, I am glad I found you, and now, we are going to beat this thing.
Akjan: Pardon, what?
Shen: the trial, of course, now that I am here, we have all but won.
Akjan: WHAT?!
She looked at Ren, who just shrugged.
Ren: Don’t worry, my big brother is the strongest guy I know.
Akjan’s right eye started to twitch. This was completely unbelievable.
This man looked like a copy of Ren, and yet, he felt like Death himself.
She could not help but gulp from fright.
I am glad he is on our side.
His danger level was off the charts, but such a menace being on their side might not be such a bad thing. She had her doubts, but Ren trusted him, and she trusted Ren.
And Ren was someone she would follow even if it meant her own death.
