Ch 2 - Moving forward

Despite his injuries, Susanoo remained where he was. Standing amid a mountain of corpses and a river of blood just looking at the space in front of him, at the screen that only he could see. He knew what it was and he knew how he had obtained it. Amaterasu, sister to Susanoo and godess of the sun. With traitors in heaven and hardly any allies, his sister was the only one that would reach her hand to help him. Susanoo knew this, he wouldn't have muttered her name if he wasn't completly sure of this.

(Susanoo) "So this is how far i've fallen... I need help... And a system of all things... "

At the unexpected response, Susanoo jolted and widened his eyes at the screen in front of him.

(Susanoo) " Sister! Shouldn't this be impossible? Systems are designed for mortals, how is it possible for a system to adapt to my soul? "

As a god, Susanoo knew the inner workings of a system. The systems had been designed to integrate to a mortals soul and imprint the skills, passives and other achievements onto said soul. This would not only help reinforce and evolve the mortal, it would even lay out a path for them to ascend to realms such as demigods and perhaps higher. Yet heaven had no shortage of gods, the system wasn't meant to lead to godhood, it was meant for the gods to find entertainment in seeing mortals try to reach a realm they would never touch.

At that, the look in Susanoo's eyes changed. His gem blue eyes slowly began to change to a darker and more ominous color, if one were to look, they may even see what looked like wandering souls. Susanoo then brought his remaining hand closer to his face, and focused his gaze on it. Through his hand, his gaze creeped up his arm and over to his shoulder. Susanoo's face changed multiple times during this. At first, he had a calm expression on his face. However, the more he inspected himself, the more fury and anger began to creep in.

Normally, a sould shared the shape of ones body. If Susanoo was looking at a dog, then the soul would be in the shape of a dog. If he were looking at his arm then he should've seen an arm. Yet what he saw was not an arm. What he saw resembled a tree with its roots torn off, shredded, set on fire and then hastily stuck together. There were sections that seemed dangerously close to drifting away or just falling apart. If not for the core of his soul somehow remaining solid, he would not have survived at all. The thought that his soul was destroyed to this extent, by traitors nonetheless, left him furious to no end. However, he could not act on it. His body needed time to recover. And he had to repair his soul.

Seeing the state of his soul, the response made sense to him. It also helped douse his anger as he could take solace in the fact he was not alone in his endeavor. And she not only had a point, it served to remind him that his soul was capable of healing. If he had not recieved the system, he would've been forced to roam this mortal world for any method to help speed up the recovery of his soul, and as Amaterasu stated, only the creator or his mother would know when that would be completed. Yet another part of her words seemed to spark irritation in him.

(Susanoo) "Just why did father have to leave so quickly? They wouldn't dare to have done this had he still been here..."

Despite knowing this, Susanoo still hated his father's decision. He had every right to be as he was in the worst state a god could possibly be in. Banished to a mortal world, a crippled divine and a divine soul that would require a miracle to not deteriorate. He had lost his weapon, most of his abilities and even had to rely on something meant to provide entertainment to bored gods.

(Susanoo) "If only father had just killed her..."

Susanoo knew his sister was right, he knew but that still changed nothing. Yet that didn't stop him from cursing his mothers name in whatever way he could. Had it not been for his mother being the immortal queen of the underworld, he wouldn't have to think about just how long it would take for his father to return. The divinity of the underworld was more complicated then his sister mentioned. Of course, they had tried to completly destroy her soul, yet even with their father the creator helping them, it was impossible.

Her soul, despite being as damaged, if not even more then his own, reappeared in the underworld and healed back to her prime in mere moments. Even their father was unable to interfere with her soul when they were in the underworld. That just went to show how difficult it was to deal with her. If it were just that, then they could choose to just ignore her. However, it was more then that. Their mother was a genuine threat to the entirety of heaven.

As the goddess of the underworld, Izanami was not known for her benevolence, or other features that would be seen in a positive light. As the embodiement of the underworld, her very presence brought chaos, unstoppable feelings of dread and actual damage to the soul. Gods would not be able to stop the corruption of their souls her mere presence brought, and in recent times the threat she embodied had begun to escalate. Her already thin amount of sanity had begun to deteriorate.

Yomi itself had begun to manifest and corrupt heaven, which led to some gods losing their souls to her madness. The options of sealing or killing her had already been tried before, all that was left was leaving heaven with her and searching for any new way to seal her. It was after their father had left when the traitors had moved and banished Susanoo for heaven. The idea that it may happen had never crossed the minds of the brother and sister gods, so they were unable to react properly. And that led to the situation Susanoo was in now.

Their motives were obvious. Their greed for a power that not even the creator could destroy, had led the traitors to fight for the chance to obtain it. And as the gatekeeper to Yomi, Susanoo had to face these traitors. His current situation showed how that ordeal played out. Just thinking of the situation had brought back Susanoo's anger. Even with his broken legs, Susanoo stomped the ground with as much strength he could muster, causing the immediate area to shake. Any creature that hadn't charged towards him begun to flee.

Frowning at the sarcasm oozing from his sister, Susanoo stopped and sat on the nearest corpse. Now that he wasn't engaged in combat, Susanoo took the time to reset whatever bones were left in his legs and bring them back to the closest he could to normal. With that done, Susanoo tried to do the same with his arm, only to struggle due to missing his other arm. Susanoo had to supress the frustration he felt and had to use his legs to try to reset his arm. It took a while but he managed to "fix" his arm aswell.

Of course he knew. After all, he was no longer the gatekeeper to Yomi, so how would he remain capable of using those abilities to their fullest? Susanoo did as his sister suggested and began to examine the abilities he still had.

  (Susanoo) "... Orochi..."

Seeing "The disaster", mentioned throughout the screen, Susanoo clearly understood what it was. As one of his most powerful foes and his indirect benafactor, Susanoo had conflicting feelings towards Orochi. He had lost a blade to the beast before, and then been awarded another from the beasts corpse itself. And now, when he was at the lowest he had ever been, Orochi had another gift for him.

(Susanoo) "That monster may not have been so bad after all... Perhaps there'll be another for me to kill and reap the rewards."

His sister brought him back to reality, in a worse way then he would have liked, and helped rein in his thoughts. With his thoughts back to the present, Susanoo sported a frown as he looked back to his system menu.

(Susanoo) "Dragon fear... What a wonderful ability... Might be something a mortal would say if they did not have a body or blood that would change the fear a beast has to a craving worth throwing their ife away for."

Susanoo already mentally ignored the Dragon fear ability as he knew that fear could not stop beasts that were set on obtaining his flesh or blood. He already had a demonstration with the mountain of corpses around him.

(Susanoo) "The rest of these abilities however...So i must head to the sea... Wonderful. Now where is the damned sea? "

Susanoo turned towards the space infront of him, obviously asking his sister... Only to recieve silence that somehow carried an undertone of annoyance.

(Susanoo) "Then i'll begin my search on my own."

And so he did. Susanoo closed his eyes and relied on his senses to search for the closest body of water that he could find. If it was a pond, he would ignore it. If it was a river then he would search for the souce. This process took Susanoo some time, but he eventually opened his eyes and sprinted towards a certain direction. Even with a crippled body, Susanoo had no issues running, Especially when Susanoo spared no effort to reach his destination as quickly as possible.

Susanoo ran for an hour before he finally began to slow down. During that hour, Susanoo had left the mountain area and entered a barren terrain that contained a river which gave the area a semblance of life. The river was wide enough for a person to lay in yet that was all. Thankfully, Susanoo only needed to follow the river and not use it. And that's what he did. Susanoo used the river to trace back to the nearest sea, if it was even connected to it, and ran that direction. And then his legs betrayed him and snapped.
