Worldbuilding Bonus Chapter 4: Docs Avatars

  All humans receive magic at age fourteen, on Dorskina's Day. A grimoire is formed from their soul, which they use to learn and cast spells.

  The spells are received from the Avatars, the gods of this world. They will spend a century with humans, and then leave for one millennia, not interacting at all. Currently, the world is in an era of the millennia, where the Avatars are not interacting with humans at all.

  The ten Avatars are as following:

  Dorskina, Avatar of Power

  Sphere of Strength

  Dorskina's magic is given to any fourteen year old who first gains their grimoire. Their spells are basic, such as the ability to expand ones senses, make themselves physically stronger, or generate lights, and can be improved upon with meditation and invocation.

  Gretian, Avatar of Life

  Sphere of Nature

  Gretian's magic is based on real life skill. To gain spells pertaining to baking bread, one must learn how to bake bread.

  Thelloya, Avatar of Death

  Sphere of Alteration

  Thelloya allows for shapeshifting and body alteration. In order to learn, one must sacrifice a body part, usually a finger.

  Haidolah, Avatar of Instinct

  Sphere of Control

  A combative sphere, it is based on giving up control, usually by bloodletting or some other form of becoming one with the world and not thinking.

  Yore, Avatar of Protection

  Sphere of Oaths

  A mysterious sphere, where promises are binding. There is no known way to get this sphere.

  Waziria, Avatar of War

  Sphere of Emotion

  A, linear, rigid sphere where one must learn one emotion before the other. It is said that Waziria once battled another Avatar named Teractus for this position, but nothing else is known about Teractus.

  Quasinonce, Avatar of Time

  Sphere of Time

  The oldest Avatar. In order to learn, you must alter your perception of time. From here you can get time based spells, including the fabled resurrection spell.

  Zebidiah, Avatar of Insanity

  Sphere of Space

  A sphere with a few powerful spells, some of which are literally impossible to learn, it must take years of study to learn each individual spell, most popular of which being teleportion

  Esterath, Avatar of Secrets

  Sphere of Dreams

  Through Esterath one can gain access to the Dream World.

  Karani, Avatar of Sight

  Sphere of Fate

  Chosen either genetically or individually, those who have this Sphere can see into the future or gain premonitions.
