Summary of Book 1 + Announcement/Explanation/Rambling

Story So Far (As much as I remember it at least):

MC was transported into an alien universe (Iktikcht) where they were captured, vivisected and examined, and escaped courtesy of a bunch of scientists faking his death via the use of nanomachines, also adding a nanomachine cloud to his brain containing an AI. After a bit they sacrificed their chance to escape the world pending orbital glassing to save the scientist who had taken care of them, narrowly avoiding death by incineration by finding another portal.

MC was then transported into a medieval world (Roven) where they were nursed back to health by a villager and took on work as a handyman until they were called to war alongside two of his friends. MC became an archer and fought a number of battles culminating in a final battle where his friend managed to kill an enemy general. The war was halted and he left through a portal to another world.

MC next found themselves in a contemporary world with magic (Uil), being picked up by a group of mages looking into the disappearance of the Brigade (a multinational alliance dedicated to safeguarding humanity) in the wake of a calamitous event. During this investigation the MC came across another Rifter like himself who explained to the MC a bit of what they can do and talked about the organization they used to be a part of that was now shattered. Said Rifter also charged the group of mages with investigating ground zero of the calamity, while giving the MC some rudimentary training in firearms. Said calamity is revealed to be someone kidnapping a God who routinely sends armies to attack humanity every 100 years. Another God is present at ground zero, identifies the culprit as a Rifter similar to the MC, and charges the MC to bring said God back or have humanity wiped off the face of this planet. To aid in this the MC is given the Liaen, armour capable of altering it's physical properties. The Brigade is formally disbanded due to revelations made during this investigation, and the player leaves via portal.

MC finds themselves in a medieval fantasy universe with magic (Arkthame), and joins a nearby village for a time as a guard against constantly encroaching monsters. A demonic invasion happens after some time and armies from the various cities are drafted and unable to do their usual job of hunting dangerous monsters and keeping their villages safe. In response, the various city states instate a bounty system to encourage Irregulars to help protect the peace, providing both monetary incentive and compiled notes on the various monsters that must be culled. The MC reluctantly takes on the work, also picking up a dire wolf friend from a deep infiltration by the demons, called the Edratchi. The MC is then embroiled in a fight against gnolls, some of whom have taken this period of unrest to attempt to take over settlements in order to tip the balance of power between them and humanity. The MC very reluctantly joins up with a small group of irregulars in order to prevent this from coming to fruition, ultimately managing to do so and earn the respect of some of his colleagues, who attempt to talk him into joining an organization with the aim of connecting various Irregulars so they can coordinate against threats better, citing his ability to see magic and souls (part of the Rifter's ability to shift their senses into different planes) and misconstruing this as him being a Sensitive (functionally though there's not really much difference). He eventually joins them.

They spend time cleaning bandits and hunting monsters, eventually being enlisted by a magic association known as the Tower to recover a number of magical artifacts. The fight goes very poorly, and the MC barely manages to succeed by using one of the magical artifacts stolen. It is then revealed that the weapon is a prototype that typically kills its users due to it manipulating Aether, which is the main magical substance used to hold souls together. The MC is able to wield it due to them lacking a traditional soul in this world. The quest also reveals a possible conspiracy by the Republic, one of the larger nations in this part of the world, possibly being involved in the current unrest. The MC gains an aether sword as a weapon from it's creator in the Tower.

The MC later is involved in looking into dragon sightings in the far northern regions, running into another group of adventurers, this group assembled from soldiers across the various nations, who have been tasked with removing any obstacles to the war effort, which is continuing to churn through their forces. The dragons are confirmed, and communications established, the MC misidentified in private by a dragon as one of the Aerathi, the angelic counterparts to the demons being fought. The MC presses them to keep this quiet. Over the course of the next few months, the MC is involved in finding Beastmen, negotiating with Wisps and Elementals and facing down a few more Edratchi scouts. The MC eventually helps the leader of previous group of soldier adventurers to try and expose the Republic's schemes after he is near fatally poisoned on their orders, but has to leave due to being misidentified as an Edratchi while acting covertly.

The MC is then pulled to help investigate a city that was recently recaptured from the Edratchi, as golems still roam through it that are hostile to everything. The investigation learns that the golems were animated by a mage who went insane from guilt and isolation due to being the only survivor, and delved into an attempt at necromancy in order to revive his sister. The MC ultimately sympathizes, choosing to hide his survival from the rest of the group and telling him to try to move on and stop desecrating corpses.

Eventually, the MC is involved in the war, ultimately choosing to give up his chance at another portal to attempt a decapitation strike at the Edratchi army. This succeeds, but the Aerathi arrive soon after, swiftly ending the war. The MC gets somewhat depressed but eventually gets over it to continue serving with the adventurer's guild. This peace is shattered when the MC discovers a serial killer targeting his old party mates, trying and failing to save them while uncovering the fact that it is a homunculi created by the mage survivor from the city with the golems. The MC goes past his rage breaking point, tracks down and kills the mage, before leaving this world behind.
