Chapter 001

"It’s time for inspection," A voice startles him. Blinking he recognized teenagers in dull brown school uniform lined up behind him. "Come on we don't have all day," The voice spoke once more, tracing the voice he found himself surprised by a familiar blur haired student president standing in front of him.

Issei Ryuudou, a fictional character or someone cosplaying really well as him was looking at straight at another very confused students. Issei was filled with mild annoyance. "Please come, by school regulations I need to check for counter brand before you enter."

"I have twenty kilograms of drugs and cocaine where do I go to sell the rest?" Replying with the first thought that came to Roy’s head. Trying to buy some time before he got a handle on the surroundings. ‘Issei’ seemed to think he was a school student for some reason.

"Please stop messing around," A sigh escaped his lips as he pinched his nose "Or I will be forced to call the authorities on you" Waving his hands he made a ‘come here’ gesture.

"Look behind you, you are holding up the line" As he said behind you was a growing line of students.

‘Ah.’ Roy patted his pockets, "One sec." He found…

He found nothing else on him. It was empty as he looked down noticing that he works the same brown uniform as everyone else.

"Once more KoRoy please hurry up the rest of the students are growing impatient."

"I can't seem to find it on me."

"What are you looking for Koryon?" Issei raised his eyebrow.

"No I am asking you to come here for inspection to make sure you do not have any counter brand goods" He said.

"Dude My pockets are empty, Don't be accusing me without evidence. What about your pockets? Should I be worried about a turf war Don Ryoudou," Roy stood there with a jokingly imitating Issei before continuing on.

Issei let him pass with a sigh, “Only if you keep holding up the line.” After a pat down and viewing the Id, Issei let Roy through. Then he pretended the past few seconds didn’t happen as he interrogated the next person with the exact same lines.

  He checked his ID.

  Nicholas Koryon.

He was completely bewildered, he did remember...having written his initials. A whole rush of something came back and clicked into place. He shook his head clear, getting rid of the blood rush feeling and continued onwards.

The school looked like very bland and boring, almost a copy paste of an office building if he hadn’t paid attention, the courtyard of sakura trees and the racing track.

Inside there were rows of small box-like lockers to change shoes into indoor ones. Roy’s name was on a locker.

Too elaborate for a dream. Rather complex for it to be anything but reality…

  He changed shoes.

He could've had amnesia about how he had ended up here, but that didn’t explain the locker with his name on it.

  Was this a prank?

No… an ear splitting headache assaulted his mind. Falling to the side he placed his hand on the locker to steady himself.

He had never shared the name Roy with anyone in real life. Virtual Reality was another option but he hadn't seen any long strings of green code rolling across the sky as of yet.

A hand grabbed his shoulder, “Roy sorry to ask this all of a sudden but can I ask you a question?”

The voice was definitely male and sounded very confused.

A male student was behind you, he had an east asian look, with black hair, black eyes and had a somewhat panicked look on his face.

Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author.

“Who do you think of when you hear Unlimited Blades work?”

"Shiro-No way can this be fate," Roy rejected it out of principle. Even if it seemed right, didn’t mean it was.

“Shirō eh? Well it’s the best answer I can hope for not entirely sure about the Fate part yet but please come with me” Gesturing to follow him the student walked ahead.

  He did seem familiar...

Roy watched as the strange person that had come out of nowhere didn't even introduce themselves and just told me to follow him in to places unknown.

Welp good thing he had gotten insurance.

  Wait…

Jogging after the mysterious high schooler who turned to him and said, “Oh sorry, I’d forgotten to introduce myself,” The two were walking up the stairs, the strange student still had traces of worry but he appears to have pushed it down. As you climb up to the next floor he would peak out and looked at all the students and breathed oh a sigh of relief.

He sat down on the steps and pointed towards himself, “Roy, it’s me Tobi.”

Roy stopped."Well damn. Nice to see you again, so to speak."

This was a strange set of circumstances. If Toby was here I wonder if anyone else was here as well, "I'm assuming you haven't found anyone else from discord"

“I’ve not meet anyone else before but look I think we are in the fate world the virtual one in the AU”

Soon the two of reached the roof it was bright and empty. “Great now I got here a day earlier and I’ve got things to tell you”

"It's a good thing one of us is well versed in the Nasuverse." The sky was a great blue hue, as clouds lulled by on the wind.

”Yes, it helped me recognised A lot of fate characters in this school”

"Don't leave me in suspense." Roy really didn’t want this to be one of those animes where someone dies in the first episode. He didn’t think the animation budget ever is enough for all the blood and gore. Except for deadman's wonderland.

“Rin, Sakura, Shinji and Taiga are in this school which are a huge red flag.”

Sitting down he took out two juice boxes and handed you one. “Have a drink, I need some sugar to take my mind off things” Draining his box, Tobi leaned against the wall.

"Plan A, kill everybody. Plan B tells Shirou about his special abilities. Plan C, leave the country don't look back. I don't know about you but I'm probably going to do the last one. You think they still sell rowboats in Japan...."

“I don’t think either of those are an option we are kind underleveled even plan B, it’s a different universe and Shiro’s the only person I have yet to meet”

Roy shook his head and got back on track, "Kidding, but seriously, Grail war shenanigans? I'm not much of an expert on fate but even I know we should have been gone Yesterday."

Taking a sip Tobi sighed “Why are all your options terrible, it’s best to just go along with this charade or we could go somewhere”

"I was joking about those options Tobi. But it’s the truth. Besides Alchemy on my end, and a few other minors things, we don't have any servant level abilities, if anything it’ll be a miracle if we survive longer than two seconds.” He paused, “Unless...hmm we take out some of the masters quickly enough. With Guns. And from two kilometers away."

“... wait repeat that, how did you get Alchemy”

“So, apparently, if my funky memories aren’t wrong, I was in another world before this one. I think it was Fullmetal Alchemist. There was a..." he strained to remember, “Summoning Circle that we...There was someone else. Gah, I can’t remember. Its frustrating but the long story short, something happened and I ended up here.”

"Well… first of you not alone I… don’t recall a lot of things like how I got here but as far as I know I was remember this is the first place I have been to and second even with Alchemy, killing masters is going to be a last resort. I got here earlier and there are a lot, and I mean a lot, of master in this school." Draining his juice box empty Tobi continued.

"Other than normal students there are a lot of people here who look like they don't belong so I guess we should just lay low for now, also have you noticed anything weird with the staff members?"

"I just got here. Do they have fancy clothing?" Roy’s expert understanding of anime and manga characters in a nutshell.

"Well I’ve seen some around you will recognise them the moment you see them, Rin is wearing a pretty erotic version of her outfit there is a but window in her mini skirt but before that. Do you remember how we arrived here?”

  ‘...?#¥ Japan?’

  ‘?#¥.’ Roy lamented.

Tobi looked at Roy, “So that’s a blank face that says ‘when you question why people are doing stupid things’. ”

Roy pushed it to the side ignoring it. "Are we already involved, in this? The 'plot' itself I mean?”

"I don’t know what the plot is Roy, so far it looks like people are just going about their days nothing strange other than a rumour I heard about child ghosts, but then again I’ve only been here for two hours.”

“That’s the plot right there son.”

It then hit him, Kara no Kyoukai was a thing. He gave out a frustrated groan. ‘There needs to be a Solitary Confinement for the exceptionally dumb. Population: Nasu,’ he thought. He replied, "Ghost children? It’s probably a Kyoukai crossover event? I don’t know anything about the series beyond the basic rainbow eyes, kitchen knives, and ghosts. Oh, and Death ...Perception." Had a strange sense of deja vu uttering the last two words.

“It’s just a rumour so far but you know how rumours go in Fate. It’s likely to be true,” looking down at his empty juice box Tobi sighed and threw it into the trash can.

“Regardless I’m not fond of any kaleidoscopic looking eyes aimed in my direction. Or knives. But mostly the eyes.”

Tobi took Roy’s comments into consideration, “Well no one has died yet well at least as far as I know so how about we just attend class or we just look around because as far as I’m aware neither of us remember attending this school. Also how the hell is everyone speaking English in Japan?”

Roy attested, “A plot gimmick of our mutual summoner. That or it was anime logic and we were summoned here without real reasoning.” If this was a story Nasu had penned, at his finest, Nasu probably hashed out a concept with convoluted wordings the fans would rave over. With a name sounding like it was the most scientific thing since sliced bread. ‘Mirror Dimensional Summoning’. When some idiot got transported to another world because reasons.

  Ha ha...

Roy wanted to go home. None of this made sense. As far as he remembered Fate didn’t have any ghosts. Beyond the ‘Heroic’ Spirits. And there were only so many important characters. They were only important because they didn’t even belong to this world via their memories. And they couldn’t ever verify their memories. Especially since Hypnosis was a thing.

Draining the last of his mango flavoured juice box. He savoured the rarity of the flavour. He could ignore the plot to live a normal life in Japan. At least if the workforce wasn't basically slavery. And if he wasn’t in an anime. He knew he’d got dragged back into the plot via narrative, bar that, becoming collateral damage from servant’s attack. Since he was in an anime, and he wasn’t flashy enough in appearance to be a main character, to change his status he would have to...

"Challenge Taiga to a bokken duel." Then proceeded towards the teachers lounge.
