Steps uneven and slow Monet led Ewell forward and out of the side office, after just a few feet his breath.was heavy and as he leaned against Monet it dawned on her how small he was under his baggy clothes, his boney shoulder poked at her and it actually hurt, only slightly but enough for her to notice.
She tried not to draw too much attention as she rubbed his arm, both in an attempt to comfort him and confirm her suspicions. Ewell didn't acknowledge her voice as she said "Let's get you comfortable so you can eat before we leave, huh?" Monet smiled at him but with his head down he didn't notice.
As she turned him down the corner towards the cafeteria she saw Jake and Ember about to pass them by, they both looked surprised briefly but Jake quickly shifted his focus to Ewell "Hey buddy." he said forcing a smile, he felt odd, as if he was pretending nothing happened but Jake didn't know what else to do, keeping his voice cherry as he could in the dire situation "We're gd you're awake." he added.
Ewell gave a small nod but didn't otherwise reply.
"Where are you two going?" Monet asked, trying to check if anyone was behind them but there wasn't a soul, the couple shrugged as Jake gestured vaguely.
"Getting our bike." Ember replied, arms crossed over her toned chest "We'll drive it while you all pack yourselves up in the bus." she added, dropping her shoulders casually.
"Won't you be safer in the bus with us?" Monet asked but Ember just strolled on, approaching the ramped museum entrance.
"We won't leave the bike." Jake crified with ease, casual and even tone made it seem like he used this as an expnation often.
"Oh." Monet exhaled. Watching them walk away. She readjusted Ewell on her arm and added "C'mon," mindlessly as she started forward down the hall "You can rest some more in the bus, okay?" she ended with a smile, looking down at his hung head.
Ewell whined, or hummed, she couldn't really tell. She took it as his reply and guided him forward.
It took longer than normal at their slow pace but they arrived at the cafeteria with no issue, the group was moving about while Barbara and Bernadina argued far off by the end archway. For what felt like an eternity most of those plotting inside paused their packing and counting, all but the bickering of the two women went silent. The attention all fell on her, or more likely the boy somberly hanging off her arm. An awkward, stuffy, energy filled the room until they all quickly continued as they were.
Bi approached, helping sit Ewell down; they then gained Monet's attention. Immediately she noticed Bi's distant look and red, puffy eyes, she knew they'd been crying and she gave them a saddened look "Are you okay?" she asked.
Bi looked surprised despite never being good at hiding their feelings; they didn't want her to realize they'd been upset "Oh." they panicked, gncing down at the mermaid keychain in their hand "Yeah. I'm. I'm okay." they lied through their teeth, forcing a smile for Monet's sake "I'm not good at goodbyes. Bernadina has been a good coworker," they paused for a mere second "And friend." they added, closing their eyes as they took in a deep breath.
"You can still come with us." Monet leaned in to whisper softly.
Bi shook their head "I'm not ready to leave her..." then they quickly amended "The museum." as an obvious cover up.
Monet simply nodded. Smiling but her expression wasn't joyful, then she trailed back to Ewell and gingerly patted his shoulder, he didn't even react even with the minor fsh of pain the gentle touch gave, she said "Sit tight, I'll try and get you a cool new outfit!" in a tone one would usually use for someone Bill's age.
Ewell nodded before giving the tin can in his hands a tiny bit more attention, bringing his bandaged fingers to the spoon.
Bi gave a once over to Ewell pleased and honestly a little surprised he managed the walk. They wanted to make a comment about a Dragon's luck or something but they choked up, not wanting to make anything worse they turned and followed after Monet, who now approached Charlene.
The now abandoned food stall the group used as their food store had lots of traffic, Creed had propped himself up on a few chairs and was packing the food Dern, Debra, and Charlene were organizing and divvying up. She didn't see Sani, nor Phil and his children, she hoped they were being helpful one way or another but Monet wasn't going to bring it up.Creed sluggishly raised his head to watch her approach "Hey." he smiled weakly before he peeked back to see Bi a few feet behind "How's he doing?" he asked, trying not to be caught eyeing Ewell but he worried about the kid.
Ewell took a bite of what tasted like canned BBQ beans though he didn't seem too excited about it.
"As well as you would think." Monet replied somberly but tried not to let it affect her face too much "What's going on? What's the pn and how can I help?" her voice came as an exhale, quick and high pitched.
"They're giving us some supplies, packing up then we're leaving." Creed replied. Ache still in his tone. His head turned when he heard Charlene approach, smiling the second she fell into his eyeline.
Charlene gave them both a nod of acknowledgement as she set down a small box of cans and thick zip locked bags of food and useful everyday items "Almost done." she said with a huff of effort "Like Creed was saying, we're going to drive an hour or two to the apartment complexes by the first checkpoint, we don't want them mistaking us for undead in the dark." she said with a light grin "We'll drive up in the morning and we'll be evacuated by tomorrow afternoon!" Charlene almost cheered.
Monet exhaled in relief "I'm gd." she replied with a hand over her heart, a brief gnce around quickly reminded her and she jumped in pce "Oh! Where's Wanda? I was hoping there was a hoodie or something we could give Ewell." she added, whipping her head back and forth in confusion as she tried to seek her out.
"Wanda's helping in the loading bay. Sani is insisting on driving so they're prepping the bus." Creed crified.
"Wait he's coming with us?" Monet suddenly tensed. Shifting a bit she looked at Charlene. Her expression dropped. Charlene just quickly hid her anger and nodded yes.
"I could check out our spare supplies, I'm sure we have some clothes left from the gift shops. Actually I know we do, the new prints that opened with our exhibits were very popur so we ordered a huge bulk of them. Our st delivery was a few days before this all broke out so we have," Bi paused, realizing what they said their tone turned quiet, much less enthusiastic "We have plenty..." they sighed out "I'll go get one." and left shortly after the words left their lips.
Monet hardly had time to shout out "Thanks!" as they walked away quickly. Monet then looked back at Creed, his face was wrinkled with pain but he kept his smile on Charlene.
"When are we leaving?" asked Monet.
"As soon as those two get their bike." Charlene replied.
Monet nodded. She sat beside Creed and met his face with a faint smile of her own, more polite than anything, as she turned to start helping him with the packing.
It was only a few minutes ter that Dern came around the counter and took the box from in front of Creed, he led Debra and Monet to the loading docks which also acted as their garage for shuttle storage. The room was rge and open, able to see wall to wall almost wherever you stood.
Gray walls and sparse vehicles made the pce all the more bare, the door they entered from had a steep staircase Debra nearly tripped on more than once, and once they arrived at the bottom there was a foot or so of an incline with various ramps pced along it to allow carts or trollies to easily move cargo. There was four thick metal folding shutters that lined the back wall, off to the side on the end left side of commercial doors was one of the shutters, the engine was off but the segmented door was open, Sani was beside the door with a clipboard in his hand, Wanda was in the process of loading the bus, stacking bags and boxes on the back seats.
Monet squinted to better take in the details of their new vehicle as she finished their descent. It was a compact and almost van like shuttle, the front was sloped and rounded with rge bubbled headlights, there was a driver's door that was open and the passenger door was on the side she couldn't see, but through the two yered tinted windows she could see it open with movement on the inside. On the side was the museums' name written in a whimsical font with what was known as the official symbol of the ancient magically adept nobles the museum was dedicated to.The bus itself was painted a light vender purple with silver accents, it looked retively new or at least well cared for, the bus was long but not bulky, looking like it had plenty of seats even if Ember and Jake joined them.
She could hear Phil's voice speaking but she couldn't make out the words not pinpoint where he was but she didn't mind much, stepping under blinking ceiling lights Monet tried to focus on Wanda, looking over Dern's head to seek her out.
Wanda waved when they met eyes.
Monet looked over at the shutters, there was a two button device hung by an inch thick wire covered in protective rubber. One round button had a red rim and the other green.
"That's where we're driving out of?" Monet stumbled over words.
Wanda nodded "Yes." gncing at the garage door then back to Monet "I haven't heard much movement but I'm sure there are undead out there." she added nervously, tapping her fingers against her face, right below her lips. One arm was crossed over her middle, acting as support for her other.
"It was nice meeting you." Wanda quickly added "Despite the circumstances. Not everyone in this new world is kind. Please, keep an eye out for those gangs, or, well, anyone else." Wanda said softly, like she almost didn't want Monet to hear but when they both shared worried smiles she knew Monet was perceptive.
Monet set the box of supplies down and Dern quickly did the same, Debra however carried her load into the bus, Steve's voice quickly came from the bus and Monet assumed the rest of the Day family was in it as well.
Monet opened her mouth to speak but suddenly jumped when an exasperated curse came from far behind her, she spun around with a squeaking excmation but calmed when she saw Ember investigating the staircase, pnning how she and Jake were going to get it down.
Monet huffed in amusement and turned back."We're just going to drive away?" Monet asked in surprise. She was expecting a bit more to the pn but she'll take it.
"A few of you will have to kill whatever is outside of that door," Sani said as he stepped around the bus, looking over the shuttle before writing something down on his clipboard.
"We, um, yeah I won't be able to kill them myself. Or, um, at all really." Wanda whined quietly, shifting in pce as she spoke.
"Those two," Sani gestured towards Jake and Ember as they carefully led the motorcycle down the stairs "The bikers, they're a good start." he said as if he was ordering them all around. The authority came naturally to his tone and he hardly gave a gnce up from his notes "We could enlist Dern, I would suggest Creed but he'll be useless with the injury-"
"Don't say that." Monet suddenly snapped, briefly interrupting him but Sani didn't seem to really care, or even notice her outburst.
"Phil perhaps, but if you have someone better suited than the father I'll hear of it." Sani continued as if she didn't even speak.
"So just the men?" Monet murmured, it clearly didn't sit well with her as her expression soured.
"Is the dragon biker a man?" Sani mocked. Gesturing again vaguely towards the couple, Ember and Jake nearly had their custom motorcycle at the bottom of the staircase now.
Monet stammered. Brow pinching together before she whispered "No." in defeat
Sani sighed in annoyance.
"Will you be fighting?" Wanda asked, gncing Sani's way before fearfully looking to the ground immediately after.
"No." Sani deadpanned "I'll be driving."
Monet felt herself sour at his words. She'd much rather have Charlene or Creed drive, someone she trusts, or at least liked. She didn't have the courage to speak up. Instead she called her hands against her gut and looked around. Seeking Charlene but she was still, presumably, in the cafeteria.
"Are you volunteering?" Sani asked, shifting his stance slightly as he looked down at her, his gaze held cold indifference, like she was nothing of note to him and as Monet stammered nervously he jotted something down with a museum branded pen "I'll mark you down." Sani then gnced behind her, which didn't seem hard as he seemed reluctant to meet her eye.
Ember and Jake high fived as they managed to finally get the bike down to the base of the stairs.
Sani rose a brow briefly, watching as Dern awkwardly squeezed past the motorist couple and back up the stairs. He jerked his head in their direction and ftly said "Are you going to make yourself useful at all?" Sani clearly directed that to Monet despite refusing to waste the effort of looking at her before he turned away at the call of Debra, not giving Monet a chance to reply.
Monet's face screwed on agitation. Wordlessly she moved towards the stairs, halfway to tears.
In the cafeteria Creed managed to fold closed the final box of freezer burnt cardboard, spping at the top of the supplies as a pyful test of security. He looked up at Bernadina, who was now across the counter from him. She was making an inventory of her own. Writing with a delicate flourish in her penmanship but it wasn't overly fshy.
"That it?" He asked with a half smile "We have plenty now, thanks to you all." Creed spoke warmly, like he was talking to a friend.
"Remember part of the deal is taking us with you." Bernadina quickly reminded.
Creed stammered, a bit taken aback by her cold shoulder. He nodded in agreement quickly trying to fix the sudden spiral he felt the conversation spinning down.
Creed cleared his throat, hand rubbing into his leg trying to dull the ache he felt. "I'm looking forward to getting to know the two of you better." he said, trying to remain polite.
"Did you pack the paper towels?" Bernadina asked, seeming too entranced by her list to hear him.
"Yeah." Creed replied with a single nod of his head.
He nearly startled at the movement beside him until he realized it was Bi, sheepishly approaching Ewell.
They dropped a few messily folded hoodies beside him, Ewell hardly reacted, slowly turning his head to see their shirt, he couldn't muster himself to look up but he ghosted a "Thank you." before looking back into his hardly eaten can of beans.
Bi didn't know what to say, what to do. Awkwardly shifting in front of Ewell. They had to say something but their throat was paralyzed.Only able to choke out "It'll be okay." before they staggered away.
Ewell sighed. Forcing himself to take another bite.
Creed turned his attention to the back archway when he heard footsteps, Debra, Dern, and a frowning Monet appeared, entering the cafeteria again."Are we ready?" Creed called out.
Dern nodded "All we need is the people!" he excimed happily, quickly seeking out Bernadina."We'll have to fend off some undead before we can drive, Sani's gonna keep the bus running while we clear a path." he crified as he approached.
"What's going to stop him from driving off without us?" Charlene asked with a harsh tone.
"Phil won't let him leave without his wife." Debra said with an attempt at a humorous tone, though she didn't follow the rest of them towards the empty food stalls "I'll be fighting with you." she ended casually.
Monet blinked in surprise. Before she could voice it Dern moved on, leaning heavily against Bernadina just to annoy her as he spoke to Creed "Need help getting down there?" he asked.
"Yeah." Creed replied, rubbing his thigh gingerly "I'd appreciate it." but his smile wasn't there, there was shame on his face he was trying to hide and Dern gave it no attention, he didn't want to make Creed feel worse.Dern put out a hand and Creed spped his down onto it, chuckling.
Dern's eyes were bright, almost childlike with how rge he managed to make them and Creed for some reason felt such a familiarity with him, like they knew each other forever and Creed was confused but went with it. He took Dern's hand, groaning in pain as he spoke "We really did luck out meeting you guys." he said trying to cover up his wince.
Charlene threw a Single strapped bag over her shoulder and quickly moved to Creed's side, with her and Dern it wasn't difficult to get him moving. Bernadina took Dern's other side, slightly leading them all forward.
Monet hovered beside them ready to catch him if need be, she gently rubbed his back when his ankle fred up.
Debra however moved towards Ewell and sat beside him.
Ewell had hardly got half way through the can, tapping the spoon aimlessly against the open edges. His bandaged fingers trembled and his chest heaved with effort, the faint wheezing made it clear he still struggled to breath without pain but you couldn't tell by his face, completely bnk. The neutral expression and his distant gaze made Debra frown.
"Zeke talked about you quite a bit." she opened with, watching as Ewell's head peeked up slightly. Debra tried to give him a comforting smile but she couldn't tell if he could see it with the messy curls of hair covering his face "Sometimes he'd tell Steve about all the things you three got up to in highschool, he really looked up to Zeke." Debra expined.
"I did too..." Ewell trailed his reply.
"Would you like to reminisce about them with me on the bus?" She asked, gently attempting to encourage him to stand. "You can finish that up first," she said with a gesture to his food can "C'mon." with that she managed to get him moving, turning just in time to see the others exit the cafeteria. They'd catch up. She wasn't in a rush.
Back in the garage Ember was hanging out of the bus door as Jake set up their shared bike. She was delivering information back and forth between herself and Jake, helping load the bus with their supplies, and even deciding to leave a few extra melee weapons she'd scrounged up, mostly extra piping and pieces of unused guard rails she deemed useful enough for zombie sying.
She herself kept the fire axe which rested on the ground by Jake's feet. She gave a zy wave when she saw Charlene and the others slowly help Creed down the long staircase. Ember trotted past the bike and up the onloading ramp, managing to get to the bottom of the staircase long before they did.
She waited until they were close enough to shout at, gesturing as she spoke, Ember pointed at the straining bulge in Bernadina's jacket pocket, the top open and overfilled. "Mind giving up one of them artifacts?" she said with a fun tune.
"What?" Bernadina blubbered.
"Well, babe . You can't keep all of them." Dern started but the second the words left his mouth the look Bernadina shot him made him regret it immediately.
"How about that fire wand?" Ember asked.
Bernadina couldn't get the excuses to leave her lips and eventually, after a few uncharacteristic whines and huffs Bernadina handed it over, the wrapped handle pointing to Ember "But!" she yanked the wand away the second Ember reached for it "Believe it or not magic has rules, strict, rules." she scolded with a frown.
Bernadina continued down the stairs and allowed Charlene and Dern to pass by, helping Creed towards the bus, Bernadina remained at the base of the staircase and fought the urge to cross her arms. She sighed. "Okay." Bernadina started "The wand is enchanted so it has its own source of power, you won't have to worry about it sapping you or not working because you're not a Caster," Bernadina expined as she held it up, making sure it didn't point anyway near Ember or anyone else "This is one of the stronger artifacts we had in the museum," then her voice came a bit faster, "If you were a caster you could use it with force of will alone bit since nearly all of them died out we've discovered, after countless hours of pouring over ancient texts, some powerful commands that when uttered properly will activate the dormant magic inside and allow the artifact to produce its fme." she said with excitement she tried and failed to hold back "See here?" she brought the wrapped handle closer and peeled back the ashy bindings "See here? This mark?" she pointed down to a single lined symbol that twisted and twirled into the shape of a Dragon's head wreathed in fme "This is the symbol of the Fire Dragon Court, but the carving here indicates it was during the fourth flight leader's reign, so-" "What's the password?" Ember suddenly interrupted.
"What?" Bernadina huffed, looking rather offended and not afraid to show it.
"You say password and fire comes out, I get it, what's the word?" Ember asked again, quickly snatching the wand from her, turning and twirling it in her hand as she investigated it.
"C-Careful!" Bernadina excimed quickly trying to grab it back. Ember dodged out of the way of her lunge causing Bernadina to shout "It's not a toy!" with frustration deepening her voice.
"I know." Ember retorted "I'll treat it with respect," she turned it, taking in the details of the pronged tip "Like a gun or something." she trailed her voice looking at the glistening red of the jewel.
Bernadina huffed. Flushing red in annoyance but she exhaled deeply to try and calm herself down."Okay. Look." she grumbled "Hold it like this, the fire comes out of the end," she took Ember's hands and gently adjusted them, the Bernadina poked at the front "The wood here is notched, that will tell you which side is safe. Fire follows the notch." Bernadina then met her eye "With strong will comes strong fire." Bernadina slowly moved away, leaving the line of fire "Now say: Firnea." Bernadina smiled, looking at the wand with a deep fascination.
Ember raised a brow at her, adjusted her stance just a bit, she felt a bit dilly, holding a wooden stick with a gem on it, suddenly feeling like a child with a toy, the branching sides even reminded her of a slingshot and the memories of her mischievous childhood.Ember cleared her throat and just as she opened her mouth Bernadina jumped, quickly adding "Fir-nee-uh, enunciate!" but she never took her eyes off the wand, even now holding onto Ember's arm in excitement without even realizing.
Ember nodded. Looking away and back forward "Firnea." as the words left her lips she felt a shock of energy flow through her, almost like a brain freeze without the pain but across her entire body, fingers tingling, toes curled, she tensed as fire burst from the center of the gem, lighting it in a brilliant yellow glow, Ember flinched as an instinct but eased as she realized she was in control. Standing up straighter she watched the fme burn with no end in sight, it protruded a few inches from the gem and if she focused harder she could force the flickering fme to stretch further, burn brighter.
Ember chuckled in astonishment, she hardly believed her eyes. Even though she's one of the <10% who still had the smallest of ties to ancient magic through her Draconic bloodline but she didn't have the ability of her ancestors, she couldn't take flight, breath fire, nor wield magic like those of old, however the sight of a billowing fme licking at the air and igniting the floating dust particles in the musty gave her a sort of primal surge of confidence.
"Then Trysmor." Bernadina whispered.
"Trysmor?" Ember said slightly awkwardly. Then the fme stopped. Sudden and swift like it was doused with water the fire was extinguished.
"Whoa." Ember giggled. Then she looked at Bernadina "Write those down for me?" she asked with an excited smile "Thank you." Ember added, she wasn't ungrateful.
Bernadina nodded, a faint smile growing on her ft lips.
"Bernie my love!" Dern shouted, hanging off the side of the bus as he waved frantically at her, using an old dialect with an overly dramatic pout on his face "My dearest we shan't depart without yee!" he said, still wiggling back and forth, shaking the back of the heavy bus minutely.
Bernadina scoffed out a ugh, cheeks pinks as she blushed at his antics.
Ember patted Bernadina's shoulder to encourage her forward and they all gathered around the bus, well, everyone but Barbra, who was nowhere in sight.
Creed was sat inside, closer to the door so he could hear most of them, behind him by a few rows were the two Day children, Debra was comforting them and expining she'd return in just a moment. Debra had sat Ewell in the seats across from her family, turning to gnce his way before she exited. He was curled tightly into himself, hood of his new jacket pulled up over his head, wrinkling against his horns.
Debra kissed Steve's head despite his attempts to wriggle away and then stretched to do the same to Bill. "Mommy will be right back." she said softly.
"I want Daddy." Bill whined.
Debra didn't show the hurt she felt, she nodded, smile unchanging "Daddy will be right over." before she pulled away, she stood tall, looking over her son's she took in their features, their round noses and dark eyes. She ruffled Steve's hair and walked away, grabbing one of the given nightsticks as she left the bus.
A few of the members gnced her way but they all remained in conversation, she heard Dern speak first.
"Less than a dozen outside, kill what we need and as soon as the bus is clear Wanda and Bi will close the shutters." he stumbled when he saw Debra approach, she settled beside Phil and listened in.
"We might not even need to kill all of them." Dern said, always trying to look on the bright side.
"Then let's get this over with." Ember excimed, she patted the seat of her bike with one hand, debating on grabbing the axe or fire wand, then she peeked up "We should hurry up before the mob out front realizes where we're going. We won't be able to drive through all of them, " Ember said, deciding to just take both. She looked at the axe, up and down the wooden handle, then at the wand. A brief thought of fusing the two together came to mind, like a backwards magic bayonet, now however she didn't have the time.
Everyone not fighting piled onto the bus leaving the fight force ready, with Bi near the gate's operating buttons.
Jake was sitting on the bike in the back, ready for Ember to jump on and for them to peel out.
Monet took in a few deep breaths, twisting her grip on the nightstick she held so tightly. She inched closer to Charlene, seeking comfort which she found instantly in the reassuring nod she gave her.
Not far from them where Ember and Debra, Ember had taken a step forward, letting Debra stay back just a bit as she gathered her bearings. Then, on the other side of her, were Dern and Bernadina, close enough so their shoulders nearly touched, preparing themselves.
Charlene looked at Bi, a serious expression on her face "Close it as soon as the bus is out, not a second ter." and Bi nodded in understanding.
Then the gate screeched. They pressed the button and the gate quickly rolled up. Sunlight dimmed from the tall buildings but it still brightened the dim garage exponentially, then undead came pouring in along with the sunlight.
Debra's breath hitched watching them topple over each other in an attempt to taste flesh first, she shuddered, felt like her feet froze in pce, Dern had simir hesitations, the twisted faces of people, people that used to be just like them, with friends, families, lives. Now contorted, sagging flesh eaten from the inside leaving nothing but bone encased in wood and festering balls tendrils, writhing pnt matter puppeting the once living body. They couldn't speak, trembling, feet felt like they melded into the concrete. Both frozen in pce.
The others didn't share their hesitance. Dragging weapons with the force of the desperate people they were, their only thoughts on survival, trying to ignore the humanlike appearance of the enemy.
Weapons split skulls, rended infected flesh, and stilled grasping hands. Their assault was swift, fighting off the few undead that staggered to the back alley.
Dern twitched, the sight of Bernadina swinging her nightstick against the cwing undead forced him into action, he dashed forward and quickly began supporting her, for the brief final minutes of the fight.
Suddenly Sani's voice commanded "Get in the bus!" which caused nearly everyone to start a mad dash to the open shuttle door.
"Firnea!" Ember excimed, letting the fire burst from the wand before her, her eyes brief blew up from the sight of the undead flinching from the fmes as Charlene and Monet ran by, Ember managed to fend off the st remaining few as the rest of the survivors crammed themselves in the bus door and smmed it shut just in time for chipped nailed to scratch against the gss as infected tried to make their way inside.
"Go!" Ember screamed as she drove her axe forward, burying the head into the Undead's shoulder to keep it in pce while burning the infected's face, the noise it let out was horrible. Guttural cries coming from degraded vocal cords made it hollow and errie.
Then the bus sped forward, the undead lost the support of its door and colpsed forward, quickly succumbing to the fme.
Bzing forward the bus smmed into the st few remaining walking corpses and barreled out into the side street, Ember wasted no time as she spun around, yelping as she felt fire nip at her finger tips she quickly gnced to the fire bursting from her hand and shook it "Fuck!" she excimed quickly putting out the tiny embers on her sleeve "Off! Turn off!" she added, shaking it, but the fme hardly flickered, "T-Thymor?" she whined "Fuck what was the command word!" she mumbled before making it to the bike, and Jake.
"Babe?" He huffed, eyeing the fire nervously.
"Just go!" Ember commanded, sticking her arm out far to try and keep the fire away from them "Drive!" she added, throwing herself in the back of the bike, her back against Jake she looped her arm around his.
Jake revved the engine and quickly drove forward, speeding through the open door. His voice was hardly heard by Bi as he screamed out "Close it!" and immediately the shutters began to drop.
The two vehicles sped out of the museum, the building closed safely behind them, a few undead remained, some smming against the now shut garage while others lethargically trailed after the escaping survivors.
They all let out a collective sigh of relief as the shuttle smoothly drove down the street, they all shared quick, hopeful looks, to one another. Trying to ignore the sound of howling from the undead Woolcat as they moved deeper into the city, and closer to evacuation.
Squidble
