The ceiling collapsed three feet behind me.
I threw myself forward, rolling across cracked stone as debris thundered down where I'd been standing. Dust choked the air. My lungs burned. The dungeon was dying, taking me with it if I stayed any longer.
"Come back here, boy!"
That voice. That massive scarred bastard was still pursuing me through this hellhole. I didn't look back. Didn't need to. The thunder of footsteps told me everything.
I had 2/4 skill slots. One used by Multiskill. One by [Draw].
If I could just find another card, any card, I could learn it. That was the cheat. That was the only thing keeping me alive right now.
A door appeared in the collapsing corridor ahead. Not a normal door. It pulsed with faint golden light, like the dungeon itself was offering me something. Or a trap.
No choice.
I slammed through it.
The room beyond was small. Sanctum small. In its center floated a single card, golden, shimmering, its edges sharp as a blade. The dungeon core. What I'd touched earlier. What had granted me Classless.
But it wasn't giving me anything now. It was consuming me.
The scarred man's fist connected with my back before I could react.
Pain exploded through my spine. I flew forward, slamming into the far wall with a wet crunch that might have been my ribs. My vision blurred, and I tasted copper, that punch alone had nearly broken me.
"You think you can steal what's mine?" The scarred man filled the doorway, blocking escape. His tattoo sleeve showed four cards. Four. A Professional-tier player in a Tier 1 dungeon. What the hell was a Professional doing here?
"Wrong dungeon," I coughed blood. "Wrong player."
"This entire collapse is because of you." He stepped closer. "That core. You activated it. You turned a Tier 1 into something else. And now it's feeding you power while this place dies."
My hand found the pendant. Still there. Still humming with something I didn't understand.
"My family has waited three generations for a Classless card." His eyes glittered with madness. "And some noob slumrat gets it by accident?"
Three generations. This lunatic's entire bloodline had been hunting for this, and I'd tripped into it.
Life wasn't fair.
The dungeon shuddered. The golden card in the center pulsed brighter, and I felt something flood into me, drain from the walls, from the dying core, from everything around me. Power. Raw and unfiltered.
My body couldn't contain it.
My tattoos burned.

DUNGEON COLLAPSE: 2 minutes remaining
I gasped. My muscles screamed as they expanded, as new strength flooded through veins that felt too small for the power flooding them. It wasn't just numbers. It was everything. The air tasted different. The light was sharper. My heartbeat was a war drum in my chest.
What was happening to me?
"Impossible." The scarred man stumbled back. "You can't absorb dungeon core energy. You're not even a class holder yet. You're,"
".Classless," I finished. The word felt different now. Not an insult. Not a lesser status.
It meant I could hold anything.
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
He lunged. His fist rocketed toward my face, a killing blow, clearly. Professional-tier strength behind it.
I moved without thinking.
My body responded faster than my mind could process. My hand shot up, catching the incoming fist in mid-air. The impact should have shattered my wrist. Instead, I felt his bones creak under my grip.
"Two minutes," I heard myself say. My voice sounded different. Deeper. More certain. "This place is dying in two minutes. You can kill me and die buried under rubble. Or you can let me walk out of here."
His face contorted with rage and something else. Fear.
"You're just a noob. You can't,"
"I'm not just anything."
I threw him.
The Professional-tier player, one who could crush ordinary players like insects, went flying across the room, slamming into the golden card floating in the center. The card shattered. The dungeon screamed.
And I ran.
The corridors had become mazes of rubble and darkness. Emergency fissures split the walls, bleeding faint crimson light that painted everything in nightmare colors. I navigated by instinct, by the new edge to my senses that told me where the floor would hold and where it would collapse.
My stats hadn't just increased. They'd woken something up.
Every step felt like I was running through water that was slowly becoming air. My body was adapting, recalibrating, learning how to use what the dungeon core had fed me. Multiskill pulsed in the back of my mind, cataloging everything.
I could learn anything now. That was the promise.
But I needed more. More than this dying dungeon could give me.
The wall exploded.
I threw myself sideways as a creature poured through the breach, all chitin and screaming mouths and too many limbs. Some kind of dungeon-born horror, spawned from the collapse. Its eyes found me instantly.

Threat Detected: Core Spawn (Elite Lv.?)
Warning: Player stats currently insufficient for combat
Recommendation: Flee
No kidding.
I bolted. The creature pursued, its limbs clicking against stone with horrifying speed. It was faster than me. Even with twenty AGI, it was faster.
A doorway appeared ahead. I dove through without thinking, rolling, coming up in a crouch.
The room was full of cards.
Not floating. Not glowing. Just... there. Stacked in corners, scattered across the floor, leaning against walls. Dozens of them. Maybe hundreds. The detritus of players who'd died in this place over who-knew-how-long.
And one stood upright in the center of the room, pulsing with silver light.
A card with no suit. No number.
Just a symbol that hurt to look at.
The creature's screams filled the corridor behind me. Thirty seconds. Maybe less.
My hand closed around the silver card before my mind could stop me.
It was cold. So cold it burned. My Multiskill screamed, a new tier. A new classification. One I'd never seen.

My finger hovered over the confirmation.
The creature's many mouths began to scream through the doorway.
"Learn," I whispered.
The power didn't enter me gently.
It tore through every defense I'd ever had, every wall I'd built around my mind, and planted itself directly into my soul. My Multiskill, the ability that let me learn anything, bent knee to this new presence, submitting like a servant to a king.
My body ignited.

The numbers didn't capture it. The skill wasn't just a technique, it was a piece of something vast and terrible, pressed into the mold of my existence. I could feel it waiting, hungry, ready to cut through reality itself if I asked.
The creature entered the room.
I raised my hand, felt the void respond.
And the dungeon collapsed entirely, burying us both in darkness.
Light.
Dim, flickering light from some kind of emergency torch embedded in stone. I coughed dust, spitting blood, pushing myself up from what had been a floor and was now a slope of rubble. My body screamed in protest but obeyed.
I was alive.
The creature was gone. Maybe buried somewhere in the collapse. Maybe erased when the core finally died. Either way, I couldn't hear it anymore.
The [Draw] card, I felt it flicker and go dark. Gone. Consumed when the core died. Whatever brief power it had granted me, it burned out with the dungeon's heart.

My hand found the pendant, still around my neck. Still humming.
And in its storage space, some dimension my mother had explained once, some hidden pocket I'd never been able to access before, something new waited. A second card I didn't remember grabbing.
The silver one was gone. Used. Absorbed.
But this new card...

Card Acquired: [RECALL ALL] (Tier 1 - Rare)
Description: Temporarily grants access to any previously obtained cards for ONE USE. 6-turn cooldown.
WARNING: Learning this card will occupy ALL class slots for 3 turns
The notification flickered in my vision, and for the first time since entering this dungeon, I allowed myself to breathe.
Three cards now. Three skills. And a dungeon that had almost killed me had given me everything I needed to survive.
The rubble shifted above me.
A crack of light appeared. Voices. Other players who'd survived, digging through, searching for survivors or loot or both.
I hid the card in my pendant before they could see.
These weren't my allies. I didn't know who they were yet. But I knew one thing now with perfect clarity:
I wasn't leaving this place the same person who'd entered.
And somewhere out there, in a city called Grimvale, people were about to learn what a Classless player could really do.
The ceiling above me finished cracking.
Something was coming through.
Something that wasn't human.
