Gabriel's Fury
A silver light flashed down, like lightning on a hot summer day, splitting the air towards the flat area between two sand dunes in front. No matter how the convoy moved, they would inevitably pass through there. Rodick's heart seemed to shrink slightly, his pupils also shrinking as he saw this silver light and realized that Gabriel's martial arts were at least above level 7, making him a high-ranking great warrior among the top warriors on this continent.
From the first car to those two sand dunes, there were sixty or seventy paces, a distance at which Roddick's swordsmanship would be hard put to have lethal effect, and he had not yet discovered that hidden danger.
Gabriel didn't have the luxury to care about what Roderick was thinking, for she had already detected signs of danger from a distance and waited until her sword skills could be effectively lethal before suddenly striking, catching him off guard.
The sword light cut through the sand dunes, and the sand suddenly sank down. Several iron chains with hooks and spikes appeared. There was indeed a trap there. If they were not careful, the first car of the convoy would fall in and block the entire team. On both sides of the pit, two men jumped out, each holding a shield in one hand and a long-handled battle axe in the other, looking very flustered.
In combat, he holds a shield and wields a long-handled battle-axe with one hand, requiring superhuman strength and agility that ordinary warriors cannot match. The two of them wear headscarves to cover their faces, and the clothes on their bodies are also light yellow like the sand dunes, and they have been lurking quietly under the scorching sand for so long. If Roderick's carriage falls, those two battle-axes will become a call to death.
Gabriel didn't stop at just one sword strike, his wrist beautifully flipping in mid-air as he slashed out two more beams of light to either side, like two lines of shooting stars whizzing past the sand. Two whirlwinds of flying sand erupted, and dozens of yellow figures leapt out from within the sand, iron chains also bursting forth from the sandy ground. The people nearby sprayed blood everywhere, while the nearest chain was already severed by the sword light just ten or so steps away.
Someone was injured, but no miserable cry was heard. This is not an ordinary bandit, but a well-trained elite warrior. The general outline of the front trap and the entire ambush circle has become clear. The frontmost trap is located on the only way between two sand dunes, exactly where it turns from uphill to downhill.
On both sides of the ambush, facing the direction of the cavalry, there were troops lying in wait. Under the sand, there were iron chains that could be tightened at any moment, like a pocket-shaped trap. The ambushing soldiers on both sides did not wear armor and held sharp curved knives, a type of weapon commonly used by Assyrian warriors, usually used in cavalry battles, but also powerful in infantry battles, as long as the speed of wielding the knife was absolute.
At the sight of this scene, Roddick calmed down from his shock and shouted out several quick commands. He brought a total of sixty personal guards, divided into five small teams of twelve people each, with two teams being cavalry.
The most elite squad stood guard on both sides of Maria's carriage, unmoved by the battle ahead, preventing anyone from taking advantage of the situation to launch a sneak attack on the most important target. The other two squads did not move forward but instead rushed towards the rear, covering the entire team's flank and rear, while the squad leader restrained the merchant team at the back from getting confused. Two cavalry teams led by the squad leader had already arrived at the front of the convoy, forming a battle formation, with the front row warriors holding shields and the rear row warriors' throwing spears raised.
The spear was thrown but couldn't be thrown out, because Gabriel saw Roderick's good battle formation, jumped off the carriage with a silver light and rushed forward, while those warriors holding curved knives also rushed towards her. Finally, the miserable cry was heard, and there were continuous limbs flying up, blood staining the sand dunes red, occasionally with the sound of weapon collisions coming over.
The curved blades of those warriors finally directly clashed with Gabriel's sword, and even the sound of the knife tip scraping against the armor could be heard. However, Gabriel did not stop, holding his shield and dancing with his sword as he charged forward, and everyone who stood in front of him fell down.
Rode-Dick felt his eyelids jumping, he was also a warrior who had mastered the sixth-level body technique, at the top of the mid-tier warriors, but as the lord of Cape City-State, with a noble status, he had hardly experienced such a solo charge. Gabriel's swordsmanship was so unstoppable that Rode-Dick felt a thrill of excitement just watching him.
He finally understood why the Isis Temple of Dreamflight had only sent this one warrior to protect Maria. Ordinary bandits and robbers, even a whole gang of them, were no match for Gabriel alone. Lord Dick thought to himself, if Gabriel was not here to protect Maria but to assassinate her, could his own personal guard ensure Maria's safety? It would be difficult even with the help of low-ranking divine masters.
It's already impressive that the Temple of Isis can send a warrior like this, but Rodick is secretly dissatisfied with Gabriel's treatment. A high-ranking warrior like him should be accompanied by a divine technician and two attendants to ensure absolute safety, so why did they let her come alone? It's really too humiliating.
Gabriel rushed out like this, and if there were high-ranking mages lurking in the distance, it would be easy to suffer. Although the noble mages wouldn't do such a thing as robbery, but today's enemy was obviously not simple.
Roth-Dick couldn't sit still, and with a single order, he personally rushed out under the protection of two squad leaders on either side, following behind Gabriel, but their speed was actually unable to catch up with Gabriel who was killing enemies along the way.
Gabriel left a trail of enemy corpses, having charged to within a dozen steps of the sandy dune trap. There were no more warriors with curved blades in front of him. The two earliest appearing warriors wearing armor and holding long axes did not charge over like the others, but instead waited for an opportunity to strike, standing high above and looking down at them, they seemed to be the strongest opponents.
At this moment, Gabriel's attention should have been completely attracted by the two warriors, who suddenly let out a strange howl like wild beasts on both sides. Suddenly, three people emerged from the sand dunes... No! If you look closely, there should be four people. Behind the figure of the person on the left, another person was standing.
However, the two people's stature was too tall and large. In the end, one person was shrouded in the shadow of the person in front, appearing silently and unnoticed. The figure was very faint and dizzy, and should have used some kind of hidden movement technique.
The measurement method on the continent of Tianzhuan, the outer diameter of a divine stone is one inch, ten inches are one foot, and those two feet have more than ten feet high, standing there like two small hills, their arms are thicker than an adult's thigh. Roddick recognized that this was a giant living in a country farther east of Assyria.
High mountain giants live in cold highlands, said to be descendants of legendary giants. In fact, they are not much different from ordinary people, just with a gigantic physique. They can also learn martial arts, although not very agile but possessing absolute superhuman strength. The armies of various kingdoms nearby also recruit and train such people, with outstanding ones serving as heavy armored warriors using blunt weapons, unleashing astonishing power on the battlefield where it's hard to dodge, wielding giant hammers and axes.
Gabriel's height only reached the chest of these two men, their hands swung heavy hammer handles, the round hammer head was inlaid with sharp wolf-tooth spikes, one left and one right covered his face and smashed down, this attack came too suddenly.
The opponent indeed had a divine technique, it was the third person standing in the shadows who cast a divine technique to hide his and the two giants' auras, only now launching a fatal blow. Their position was cleverly ambushed, if the convoy really fell into the trap, when the first car fell, they would be right on either side of Maria's carriage, should be the main force of the ambush, one move could smash the entire horse-drawn vehicle, but now it was used to deal with Gabriel.
Gabriel couldn't hide, surrounded by the wind generated by the giant hammer. The two team leaders threw their javelins, one to the left and one to the right, flying towards the two giants. Roderick also made his move, his sword flew out, its tip carrying a faint glow in the sunlight, faster than the javelins, but aimed at the third person behind the giant on the right side.
A deafening crash, Gabriel raised the shield on his left hand and barely held up against the giant hammer falling from the left, his feet sank into the sand along with his calves. His right hand wielded a sword to meet another giant hammer, the silver heavy sword now looked so slender, as if it would shatter with just a slight impact.
However, the sword did not shatter. The giant hammer smashed onto the sword tip with almost no sound. The long sword bent into an arc but did not break. Gabriel's mouth was muttering something unknown as he called out. The two divine stones on the sword hilt emitted a strange fluctuation. The sword body suddenly sprang straight again, and a power that seemed to distort space spread out. The giant hammer slipped aside. The giant's body involuntarily spun half a turn. This hammer clearly hit the sword tip but seemed to have missed.
This is a divine technique, and it's an intermediate divine technique! As a warrior, due to the difference in cultivation direction, it's difficult to systematically learn divine techniques, and it's impossible to master divine techniques of the same rank. But Gabriel can master intermediate divine techniques, even if it's through the sword imbued with divine techniques, this is already surprising enough!
There was a loud crack, accompanied by a strange cry, and the giant's left shoulder dislocated. His hand dropped, and the hammer head smashed into the sand dune. The two squad leaders' javelins also arrived, flying towards the right giant. Just as they were about to hit, it seemed like they had been stuck in something sticky, and a force pulled them into the sand dune, barely missing by a few inches. It was that sorcerer who protected the giant just in time.
Another spear shot into the left thigh of the giant, a third-level warrior's full-strength blow. The spear could penetrate several heads of cattle, but at this moment it only shallowly inserted a few inches deep, and the giant's body was like iron. However, such damage was not light, the giant hammer smashed onto Gabriel's shield, the center of the shield dented and deformed with radiating cracks, the giant also shook his whole body numb, and again hit by the spear, let out a strange cry and knelt down on one leg.
With a loud clang, Gabriel pulled his legs out of the sand and lunged forward, scraping out sparks from his shield and massive warhammer. The crack in the center of the shield was slowly disappearing as if it could repair itself, but it only fixed about half before stopping. The shield that Roderick had given her was enchanted with divine magic, but even so, it couldn't withstand a single blow from the giant.
Gabriel took a step forward, his left hand sending the edge of the shield spinning into the giant's chest. This was axe technique, using the shield as an axe. The giant let out a roar of surprise, dropping his massive war-hammer and reaching out to grab the shield with both hands in an attempt to wrest it away. Gabriel didn't try to hold on, instead pushing forward and releasing his grip, leaping to the right front while simultaneously slashing out a dazzling flash of silver light to the right side.
The giant, in great pain, subconsciously reached out to grab the shield, and Gabriel very neatly abandoned the shield and added a bit of force. The giant hugged the shield that was stuck in his chest and fell backwards, with a spear still stuck in his leg.
The duration of this encounter was very short, the spear thrown at the giant on the right fell empty, and the divine caster behind the giant was casting a spell. Rod Dick's sword flew towards him, and in close proximity, it also slowed down strangely, making a series of sounds like something being shattered, falling to the ground, but just happened to be inserted into one of his feet, pinning that foot to the sandy ground.
The magician let out a pained wail, and then saw the desert and sky in front of him spinning and dancing!
That was Gabriel's sword light, which split his skull and flew out spinning, while the silver light also swept across the waist of the giant on the right side, and blood didn't spurt out until after two breaths.
That man was a mid-tier divine spellcaster, and his divine magic had reached the fifth level, which was already quite a high status. However, he was very unlucky today, as in order to hide his voice, he didn't launch a preemptive attack, allowing Gabriel, such a warrior, to rush to this close distance, and when the giant in front of him couldn't protect him, he almost became meat on the chopping board.
Don't forget that Gabriel can also use mid-tier divine magic, although it's just to assist his combat skills and not as comprehensive a system as what a main job divine magic user would have, but in this situation it's enough to take him down.
Gabriel didn't look back at the giant behind him, instead he raised his shield and continued to charge forward. On the sand dune ahead were two more enemies wielding axes. The two warriors who had initially seemed so confident couldn't help but reveal a hint of panic as they saw their ambush being dismantled so quickly. They turned around intending to flee, but felt that they couldn't escape, and in their moment of hesitation, Gabriel arrived.
Between life and death, they fought without hesitation. The two men let out a loud roar and swung their long-handled battle axes in a crisscross motion, striking each other with a faint halo of light on the blades. Gabriel suddenly accelerated as he charged forward, bending his waist and crouching down like a lion pouncing, dodging under the axe's blade and colliding into the left side of the warrior's body.
Her shoulder crashed into the shield, and the tip of the shield smashed into the man's breastplate, a large chunk of which caved in with the sound of ribs snapping. Gabriel's form immediately bounced to the right, swinging his sword straight at another warrior.
The axe handle was very long, and the man on the right had just raised it when Gabriel suddenly appeared in front of him. The axe blade was already too late to come down, and he hastily raised his shield to block the sword light. The sword light suddenly shone brightly, as if it could tear everything apart. The shield was split in two, and the sword pierced his chest armor. The vibration of the sword tip shattered his internal organs, and then it was pulled out immediately.
The silver sword body is intact and undamaged, without even a hint of bloodstain. Gabriel's armor has several cracks on the shoulder guard, slowly repairing itself, she turns around with her sword between the sand dunes, sunlight shining on her golden curly hair, her beautiful face is so cold and stern, there is no longer an enemy alive behind her.
Rodrick-Dick stood between two fallen giants with the two squad leaders, looking at Gabriel with a look of admiration and astonishment.
……
In the distance, on a hill, in the shadow of a strange giant stone, there was a group of people lurking quietly, all with an expression of disbelief. In front were three people, in the middle was the local governor, the mayor of Syria City, Fermyan-Shaomu, standing on the left was his most trusted deputy, the financial officer of Syria City, Misterton-Morton, and on the right was the high priest of the Temple of Syria, the divine technique master Kaosuman.
