  Chapter 19: Damned Are the Innocent.

  ~~~ [START]
  The engine of a truck rumbled like a bull. And Honey, who was sleeping like a baby on the passenger seat, didn’t even notice.
  She just slightly shifted to the side; her consciousness drowning deeper into slumber.
  Troy screamed inward within his chest, hands slamming on the steering wheel with an ounce of his strength.
  Then, unintentionally, tears nearly started falling from his eyes; he was ruining her life.
  So, without draining any more time, he stomped the pedal and drove off, his eyes occasionally darting to the woods as it sped.
  He knew they had discovered him; he could hear them when they were speaking from miles away. But now, what truly bothered him most was that their conversation was about Honey, the only human he cared about.
  BEEP!
  He turned his eyes back to the road as the ground below them pushed the truck to move unevenly.
  Then, after the unfortunate hooting from another vehicle, Honey jolted awake, her eyes immediately shifting to the approaching road in front of them, the lights from the street-poles vanquishing the little sleep which was left in her conscience.
  “Troy?” she whispered in fear, eyes widened, hands trembling on the seat. “Troy! Troy… Troy!”
  Tears started forming in her eyes, her voice slowly turning to whistles.
  And with all his strength, he tried to ignore her screams. But the pure agony made him push his foot on the brake, as the car drifted to the side of the road, pulling up.
  “Troy?!” She turned her head to him, heart endlessly pounding against her chest. “Troy!”
  Troy screamed, slamming the steering wheel again, but this time, he failed to restrain his strength, so the upper part shattered from his hand’s impact.
  Honey was jolted with a tremble from the sound; he was scaring her.
  “Okay,” Troy said, this time moving his hands, grabbing hers, then covering them over. “Listen, they will follow us, okay… I… I need you to trust me—”
  “Troy… what’s going on?”
  Troy’s tears were seconds from leaving his irises. “No, no, no… Just trust me, okay… please, you have to trust me… I need you to trust me.”
  {ELSEWHERE}
  A torch burned ablaze, its light brightening the darkness as it revealed three figures standing in a circle around a headless, paled body.
  “He was thinking of joining us.” Edward’s voice cut far sharper than any knife. “Those were his final thoughts—”
  “I had no idea—”
  “It’s okay, Jasper.” Carlisle interrupted Jasper’s words.
  “No, you don’t understand.” Jasper walked forward, not even looking at the body of Stan as Edward burned it ablaze. “The shifters would have broken the treaty. When I baited Sam to the border, we made an agreement that it wouldn’t be broken if he was killed—”
  “Jasper,” Carlisle cut in , his voice too calm, too soft.
  Jasper nodded, straightened, then turned his eyes back to the burning corpse before them.
  Carlisle’s eyes shifted to the clothes beside them. “Did you grab everything?”
  “Yes?” Edward said, finally dropping the burning wood in his hand. “But his phone was low; it turned off when I tried searching for the picture—”
  Then suddenly, all their heads turned as three figures appeared from nowhere.
  “What’s going on?” Carlisle questioned without halt. “Where is Esme?”
  One of the figures walked forward. “She said she needed to go hunting before we left—”
  “No!” Alice interrupted Edythe’s words. “No, no, this wasn’t supposed to happen.”
  Edward’s eyes immediately widened after reading Alice’s thoughts.
  Rosalie placed her hand on Alice’s trembling shoulder. “Alice, what are you talking about?”
  “The vision…” Alice said, head still tilted toward Stan’s body. “We weren’t supposed to let the shifter chase you.”
  “Alice!” Carlisle moved forward because of her panic, occasionally glancing at Edward, who was frozen to the ground, his head turned elsewhere. “What’s going on?”
  “He’s leaving! He’s leaving… no.” Alice grabbed Carlisle’s hands, causing unintended creaks to appear because of their strong assault. “You have to stop him; he’s going to leave, folks.”
  “I found them,” Edward said from beside them. “They are not far. I think he knows we’re coming.”
  “Please.” Alice didn’t even turn from Carlisle when she said it. She looked him straight in the eyes, gaze sharp and unforgiving.
  But fate had taken its toll; their assault was inevitable.
  {ELSEWHERE}
  “Vampire? Troy, what are you talking about?” Honey asked, her eyes still narrowed, her figure trembling while she sat atop the bed. They were in a motel, in a room Troy specifically chose because it was the farthest from the other houses.
  Troy didn’t even reply; he just removed his belt and took off the jacket he had worn to cover his naked chest.
  Then his eyes trailed to the room’s back door, or more specifically, the see-through window above its handle in the middle.
  And much as with respect to timing, four shadows appeared, walking slowly from the far distance.
  Troy hurried to Honey, took his jacket, then hung it on her shoulders; she was still drunk.
  “Don’t worry, there’s… there’s nothing to worry about, okay.”
  And she nodded at his words as if she understood, but she did not.
  Troy jolted up, then, faster than a blur, he was gone. Even when he exited the door, it didn’t seem to have opened; in fact, to Honey, it appeared as though he phased through it, the only consideration being that it was lightly shaking back and forth.
  The combination of shock, fear, and confusion overwhelmed her; so much that she collapsed to the bed, sleeping once again, taking back what it once owned.
  And on the other side of the door, Troy was now standing shirtless in the darkness, eyes shining brighter than those who approached.
  “Do you really wanna die for your loyalty?!” Troy didn’t even waste a breath. “Well… do you?!”
  ~~~ [END]

  Guys, the future is always changing, that's why Troy stopped leaving, because in Alice’s vision, she wasn't involved, so he left, but now, because they were noticed and she was involved, he didn’t think he had enough time to leave. Let me cook lol.

  Okay, so I don’t know if you guys noticed, but I’m trying to use realistic dialogue… you know. So, it has a lot of interruptions and stuff, tell me if you think it's good enough.
