Chapter 2

Adithi arrived at dusk, I don’t know how she is one heck of an early bird.

I was up early though, making breakfast with some leftover pancake batter from yesterday’s midnight snacking.

I heard the doorbell ring with a melodic bell.

“Coming!” I yelled from the kitchen, rushing to turn off the stove, darted out the door and dashed past the living room to the door where a silhouette of Adithi was waiting to be let in on the mesh door.

I unlocked the door with the keys that I was given by Akira to take care of, and opened the door with a huge smile on my face. The warm sunlight made the entire front yard look so dreamy, the fresh breeze hit me like a melodic, calm beat.

“Hii!!” Adithi greeted with excitement, waving her hand eagerly and rushed to give me a hug, I was almost tackled to the floor by the amount of force she put in that hug, but I steadied myself and she squeezed my body tightly.

“I missed you so much!” she chattered impatiently as I made way for her to step in. Her long, vibrant red sari trailed behind her, her bangles made the ringing noise that I was jealous about (She gets to wear jewelry, I am not allowed to wear any, not even a ring.) her long black hair bounced whenever she took a step and her makeup looks like it took two whole hours with the foundation and green eyeshadow, but can be easily voted as the best make-up artist, the red lipstick suited well with her sari.

“Did Akira get drunk last night?” she commented while pointing at the couch where Akira was fast asleep, but his body looked like as if he fell from a five-story building. Messed up.

I let out a howl of laughter. “No, he was just tired from the chores he did last night,” I replied while chuckling.

“Where is Fuji?” Adithi questioned, “He is supposed to be here five minutes earlier than me!”

“Adithi, it is six ‘o clock in the frickin’ morning!” Akira complained angrily before his eyes were even open, his hair was messed up from his sleeping position, clothes were ruffled and stained from the chores. He sat up slowly, still pissed off from waking up. “How can you expect him to be five minutes earlier than you when he sleeps at five in the morning?!”

“Did you really had so much chores that you look like someone who broke all their bones to miss school?” I asked jokingly. Adithi held back her giggle, because if she laughed, Akira’s temper will shoot up like a volcanic eruption

“No, you absolute walking disaster!” Akira retorted, “I was trying to get a way to remove the filter off this tape!”, his words stabbed my heart like a hot knife. ‘Does no one really learn from horror movies?’

  “What tape?” Adithi interrogated cluelessly

Akira let out a short whistle when he glanced at her, “Wow,” he said while keeping a straight face, “A lot of make-up today, what are you trying to do? Hide your acne?” Adithi frowned at him as he let out a smirk, “Anyways, listen.”

  He grabbed the tape recorder from the coffee table that it was resting on and hit play. Adithi kept a face that was concentrated and analyzing each word the tape recorder spit out. After the last words echoed off the walls, Akira lowered the tape and held it near his thigh. Adithi was drafting up her opinion based on what she heard. After a few seconds of thinking, she opened her mouth to speak out her opinion;

“But why risk yourself in this? Adithi replied.

‘Finally! Someone agrees with me!” I smiled to myself just thinking about the words she said.

“You watch too much horror movies,” Akira joked “None of these are real! It’s just made to scare the kids or even us into believing it’s real!”

Adithi looked very concerned for him, “Anyways none of the filter deletion is not working, but I have found someone just thirty minutes away to help us remove this filter,” Akira informed “We will visit them after Fuji arrives, where is Diana by the way?”

“Diana is getting dressed,” I replied “She said she will be done in thirty minutes. But anyways, who wants some pancakes?”

Akira’s face betrayed him as he let out a smile of excitement, Adithi was eager to eat.

I doubted that she even ate breakfast before coming here.
