Chapter 36: Dont Disturb Young Master

Chapter Thirty-Six: Don't Disturb Young Master

"Good." Su Xiaofan glanced at the person pushing a cart that was gradually moving away before walking to Ye Shi's side.

"Here, I'll give you the money back, it's less than ten taels of silver." Ye Shi handed over the silver to Su Xiaofan.

"Good, it's quite cheap." Su Xiaofan took the silver and glanced at the four cages containing small chicks and ducklings, as well as a package of what looked like feed.

Ye walked up to the package and said: "This is the feed recommended by that boss, he says that if you use this to raise your poultry, they'll grow really fast."

Su Xiaofan slightly frowned, then replied: "Grandma, it's better if we don't feed them with feed. Chickens and ducks raised on feed are not as delicious as those that aren't fed with feed, so they definitely can't be sold for a good price."

"Yes, I've heard others mention it before, but I've also heard that using some feed makes it difficult to raise them without killing them." Ye Shi was particularly afraid of this because in the past when she raised her first husband's birds, they all ended up dying.

"It doesn't matter, we won't know if we don't try. But since we've already bought them back, let's just put them at home for now." Su Xiaofan walked around the cage a few times and said: "Grandma, how many are there in here?"

"There are a total of 140, with two silver coins for 35, so I bought four silver coins' worth, 70 each. And the feed is five silver coins." After Ye said this, she also furrowed her brow, only to realize now that the feed was indeed too expensive, having not felt it was pricey under the old man's smooth talking persuasion earlier.

Su Xiaofan smiled calmly, picked up a chick from the cage and gently stroked it: "This little chicken is much cheaper than the big one. If we can raise it, who knows how many silver coins we can sell it for."

Ye picked up the feed that Su Xiaofan had said to put away first and took it into the house, smiling as he spoke: "Yes, if we can raise them successfully, that would be great."

"Oh, Xiao Fan, you've bought so many!" Yu Xiaoxi walked over from the side, smiling as she turned a few circles around the cage.

"Really, can they finish it today?" Su Xiaofan hadn't gone over to take a look yet, and had been busy in the kitchen all morning. There were too few things in the family's kitchen, and she had originally wanted to make some small pastries, but after working on it for half a day, she still hadn't finished.

"If the enclosure is just that one circle of fence, it can be surrounded. Su Heng said he would take a day off tomorrow to come over and build a small shed, make a nest, and at night you will drive them all in there." Yu Xiaoxi also leaned against Su Xiaofan's side, playing with the little chicken in her hand together.

Ye put away the good things, came out of the house, and looked at the two with a hint of blame: "Alright, quickly put it back, they're all too small, if played like this for long, they'll easily die."

Su Xiaofan smiled and put the chick back, then asked Yu Xiaoxi: "How long does it take for the chicken in the house to hatch eggs?"

"This, I don't know what kind of egg you have, so I don't know the specific time, but usually when we hatch chicks it's around 20 days." Yu Xiaoxi walked into the main room, took a glance at the hen nesting in the corner, and then looked at the few little rabbits Su Xiaofan had caught from the mountain, smiling and asking: "Xiaofan, why don't these rabbits grow up?"

"It's grown." Xiao Yi Mo glanced at him lightly and replied calmly.

"Is it long?" Yu Xiaoxi leaned over to Xiao Mo's side, as if every time he came, he would squat here and play with these little rabbits.

"Nature, I'm watching them every day." Xiao Yimiao raised an eyebrow.

Yu Xiaoxi looked at him with a smug expression: "People say that if you stare at them every day, you won't notice they've grown up. But if you only look at them occasionally, you'll find out whether they've grown or not. However, since you stare at them every day, what do you want to achieve? They won't grow up all of a sudden."

Xiao Yi Mo gave her a white eye and then replied: "What else can we do? Of course, it's to wait for them to grow up and eat them."

"... Yu Xiaoxi was speechless, even if he wanted to eat them, there's no need to come and guard every day like this."

"Alright, just stay there and don't disturb me." Xiao Yi Mo looked at her slightly speechless expression, suddenly feeling a bit annoyed. Every day was uneventful, and apart from coming to play with these little rabbits, he didn't know what else to do.

"Hmph! I'm too lazy to bother with you." Yu Xiaoxi snorted and turned around, walking out of the main room and into the empty space next door.

Su Xiaofan looked at them helplessly, when would these two people get along harmoniously?

In the late afternoon, a fence made of bamboo was completed. Su Bing sent everyone away and Yu Xiao Xi and Su Xiao Fan stayed inside the fence, making a temporary nest with dry grass in one corner. Although it wasn't very cold at night now, they were still small, so having a nest would be better.

After preparation, the two of them put all the chicks and ducklings inside.

"I hope it doesn't rain today." Yu Xiaoxi looked at the horizon, and for a while now, the sky had been gloomy, always looking like it was about to rain.

"Hmm, shouldn't be, right?" Su Xiaofan also looked up at the sky, hoping she wouldn't be that unlucky.

The next day, Su Bing worked alone from dawn till dusk before finally setting up the shed.

Su Xiaofan walked into the shed and looked at the roof covered with straw, asking suspiciously: "Really won't leak rain?"

"Don't worry about it." Su Bing wiped the sweat from his forehead and stood behind Su Xiaofan, grinning foolishly.

"Alright, thank you." Su Xiaofan heard him say this and really put his mind at ease. When he went to the city earlier, he passed by several households and saw that their cowsheds were also made of straw.

"But later on, when your situation improves, it's better to buy some tiles and re-cover the roof again." Su Bing suddenly remembered that it was already summer now, and this summer would surely bring many thunderstorms, which would sometimes start suddenly with heavy rain, making it hard to prevent water from seeping in.

Su Xiaofan frowned: "Tiles should be very cheap, right? I'll give you some silver, and when you come back another day, can you help me bring some back?"

Su Bing thought for a moment and said: "I'll go ask for you tomorrow, after buying it back, you can give me the money."

"Alright, thank you for your hard work. I don't have anything else to repay you with. If you're interested in cooking, feel free to come find me when you have time and I might be able to teach you a thing or two. But I don't know much myself." Su Xiaofan smiled at him gratefully, perhaps he was helping her out because of his relationship with Xiao Xi.
