Plans for the Future

A new day comes, the three emperors are gathered in their conference room. Sumiko is the last person to enter the room. “Good morning everyone!” She turns to Shiryu and widens her smile. “Good morning Lord Cloak!” She seems to be extra cheery this morning. Shiryu looks up at his girlfriend to reply with a greeting of his own. “Good morning Sumiko. But you know that you don’t have to call me by my title anymore, right?” She embarrassingly looks down at the ground. “R-Right. I know that. Shiryu.”

Shiryu lightly chuckled. “Well anyway, now that we’re all here, there is something that I’d like to announce. We emperors are planning to host another tournament to find our apprentices!” Although this is supposed to be a big moment, this announcement was met with an awkward silence. Sumihara finally breaks the silence. “Pardon me, My Lord? But wasn’t that the point of holding that tournament a few months ago?” The air turns heavy as the three emperors begin to sulk. “You're right. Sumi. But honestly speaking, those guys just weren’t impressive enough.” Todo points out. The other two seem to be in agreement.

“What do you need apprentices for?” Sumiko confusedly asked. Shiryu is glad that Sumiko decided to entertain the thought. “We need to start thinking about our successors. I think this tournament will do just that. But of course when I say we, I actually mean you guys.” He points towards the princesses as they unknowingly just volunteered to host the tournament. “Then you can count on us!” Sumiko confidently proclaimed.

Suddenly a random girl walks into the conference room, unbeknownst to the crew. “Well well well. That sounds like a great idea. Darlin’.” Hearing this voice spooked everyone as it came out of nowhere. Except it did come from somewhere. Some one actually. It belonged to a girl who’s wearing a brown cowboy hat, long blonde hair, dressed in a tank top with blue jeans, and a fairly tanned skin. And judging by Shiryu’s scowl, he seems to know exactly who this is.

“Um, who might you be?” Sumiko tries to handle the situation with care. But the girl just looks at her, like she’s silently judging. “Me? Hm… That doesn’t concern you honey. An’ I was talking to Shiryu.” Upon hearing the clear disrespect, Sumihara lashes out. “You country bitch! She asked you a question! And do not speak to Lord Cloak so casually!” Shiryu takes a deep breath as he decides to speak up. “What are you doing here Alexis?” She seems to be happy that he recognized her. “So you do remember me darlin’?” There are only a few things that can get under his skin, and she’s one of them. “I told you not to call me that! I’ve never been interested in you. Ever!”

“Aww. Don’t be so cruel. Besides, it don’t matter if you like me or not. It wasn’t your choice to make.” Sumiko’s attention now shifts to Shiryu. “What’s she talking about?” The time has come for Shiryu to reveal the identity of this girl. “This is Alexis Penninton, my fiance.” Everyone was shocked by this revelation, especially Sumiko, who had just become his girlfriend. “But don’t get it twisted. This decision was made by our grandfathers back in middle school. She kept trying to visit me and get closer, so I had my mother move us and didn’t tell anyone about it.” Shiryu attempts to get some more information out of her, specifically the reason why she’s here. This was her response: “I transferred here about a month ago after hearing about the tournament. I kept to the shadows and slowly watched as I confirmed your identity. Afterwards, I waited until the perfect time to reveal myself, in order to become your princess.”

This confession sounded better in her head. Because now she has a room full of people who think that she’s a delusional fangirl. “So you followed me around for a month, just for this? You really are crazy.” He stops to think for a moment. “I hope you can fight, because if you really want to become my princess, then you will have to join the upcoming tournament. I have no use for weak people, and I don’t need another secretary nor a medic.” Hilda distastefully looks at Shiryu after that comment. But she knows better than to say anything at that moment. Knowing that this is her only chance, Alexis is forced to comply. “Very well. If it means that I can get close to you again, then I will fight!”
