An announcement.

  Hi all

It's been over four months since Isecant ended. Sad times :( Life is balancing out and spring is around the corner though. I hope y'all have been well.

I'm in the planning phase of rewriting and relaunching the story. A new name, direction and journey. There are exciting times ahead. I'll announce it and a fixed date closer to the time but for now this is just a heads up that things are happening in the background.

The new story will be more grounded than the old. This will particularly affect the comedy elements, they are still there just not as constant, also not as dark either. Many characters return along with brand new ones. MC will now go by a nickname instead of MC in the story, so say hello Monch, "What's good people?" Monch won't quite be the same as MC, he's more human, or Terran if we're going to be accurate. Still systemless though!

Many new locations, familiar towns and places like Hawkstown return. I'm sure you will already know who its most famous citizen is. The side story involving a certain other character, will focus more on the bigger picture and still be happening. It will not be as lengthy as the rewrite, it will be faster paced and shorter chapters, most likely around the 1200 – 1500 word mark. This story won't launch until it reaches a certain point along Isecant's rewrite. I have a rough estimate for this to drop around the middle of 2027 subject to change of course! While this story didn't appear before, I still stand by its plot and want to bring it to RR when that plot point happens.

I want to plan as much as possible this time around. It took several stumbles, falls and slaps in the face to give me that wake up call. Gotta have a plan for these things! I've given myself some things to work around and keep to. A minimum word count being one of the biggest. I'd like to hit 1500 words minimum and preferably 2000 words for every single chapter. If they run over that's fine, just means more for you lovely readers. A better posting schedule since I didn't really know what I was doing before, chapters dropped if I had any for a Thursday or felt like dropping prematurely. I'm constantly watching the site and trying to learn, and now, my plan is to work with a Mon / Wed / Fri posting routine currently. Time zone still to be decided.

With a new launch this will also mean some other changes will occur. I plan to delete the old story going forward. I've taken a few key things that I think worked well from it to bring over to the rewrite but I don't particularly look back with fondness of it, the mistakes, the direction, I can see my mind wasn't in a good place when writing much of it. I think much of the old story would have also worked much better in a visual form than written too.

Writing rules are there for a reason. Breaking them occasionally is fine though, lore dumps, exposition and showing Vs telling has taken a while to really grasp the concept of. You must read from the best to form these things better for yourself.

POV especially was a mess, I didn't realise I was writing 1st person for most of the first volume. Going forward, the rewrite will be written primarily through 3rd person, there will be occasional view switches just not often. The focus should be on the main character as much as possible after all.

On another note, I do plan to utilise alpha & beta readers as much as possible, I'd really like for this story to land better.

I'll put another announcement out closer to the time of launching, with a link to a new profile too. Until then, stay safe and healthy people. Hope you are excited to read about the gang again.
