Gu Longyu thought he would have to withstand a terrifying tearing force from the portal. Logically speaking, the spatial portals appearing should be the work of some natural law or phenomenon, so they should not care whether or not what they sucked in was damaged or destroyed.
In complete contradiction of that logic, Gu Longyu felt no danger. Except for the unresolvable force pulling him, there was no danger. Although different from his memories, Gu Longyu felt the journey was a bit familiar—not in scenery, but in purpose.
It reminded him of when he was in the lower realms and his cultivation had reached the limit the realm could withstand. In such cases, the cultivator would have to leave the realm within a few days to a month. Of course, there was an exception: if the cultivator displayed power beyond the realm’s ability to withstand, they would be forcibly ascended ahead of time.
This reminded Gu Longyu of his previous actions. His attacks had crossed the threshold of an immortal emperor’s level. Coupled with his unending attacks, it was not strange that the Heavenly Dao would forcibly open a portal, but that didn’t explain everything.
There was no legend of ascending on Planet Dragonsleep. Of course, this could be because of the sparse legacies and inheritances despite the abundant spiritual qi and resources. Furthermore, it seemed that everyone thought the monarch level was the peak of cultivation.
That didn’t explain why the limit was the immortal emperor level. Although there was a realm separating immortal monarchs from immortal emperors, setting the limit felt strange to Gu Longyu. Not to mention that Planet Dragonsleep wasn’t a realm.
The Huang Realm was part of the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System. After ascending, cultivators would appear in a higher realm. It was, in essence, a pyramid structure. Each higher realm had countless lower realms under it. They would continue ascending until they finally reached one of the two immortal-rank realms, the Huang Realm and the Numinous Realm.
Regardless of Gu Longyu’s questions, the portal continued pulling him. Within the portal, Gu Longyu could not sense time. He couldn’t even measure it, as he always found it distorted after a period, and nothing he did could change that.
He didn’t attack the portal either. Doing so brought great risk. In the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System, it would fling him into the Vast Void. Only true immortals could survive in the Vast Void, and only for a limited time. They would perish if they could not replenish their immortal qi.
Even immortal monarchs and emperors had to be careful. They had more qi, and it was at a higher level, but they would still die if they could not replenish it.
Of course, if they possessed a realm artifact, they could theoretically roam the Vast Void until their lifespan ended.
But even with a realm artifact, Gu Longyu would not choose such a foolish course of action. This was not the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System he knew, and who knew where he might appear if he disrupted the portal.
It could have only been a few hours, or even years, but when Gu Longyu saw the sky again, it was already night. His appearance was not accompanied by grand hymns or myriad phenomena. It was just a simple vortex spitting him out.
Gu Longyu observed his surroundings. He was standing in the air, above a forest and a mountain. The air was filled with dense spiritual qi equal to that on Planet Dragonsleep. It was the sky that drew his attention. He could see several star groups, each with a central star that the other stars orbited.
This was a solar system. It was a term he had only learned in this life. Unlike the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System, where the solar and lunar stars revolved around each realm, each planet revolved around a star—the sun. And the moon was nothing more than a celestial object reflecting the sun’s light, changing it in the process. Most of the other planets were uninhabitable, like those unranked realms.
Gu Longyu was sure he had arrived on another planet, and a habitable one at that. He wondered whether those other solar systems also had habitable planets. And judging from their distance, it wasn’t impossible to travel to them.
A long-lost sense of excitement for the unknown filled Gu Longyu.
A week had passed since Gu Longyu arrived on the new planet. He learned that it was named Radiata. Like Planet Dragonsleep, many forces inhabited the lands, but most of them were weaker than the top forces on his previous home, though Gu Longyu did not dare to underestimate them.
Unlike the cultivators of Planet Dragonsleep, the forces on Planet Radiata were not limited to one planet. It was part of a planetary alliance composed of sixteen solar systems, called the Death Goddess Planetary Alliance. And the leader of this alliance was the Temple of Death.
Just from the name alone, Gu Longyu knew that they worshipped a divinity or were led by one. It wasn’t as if he had never seen a divinity before. He had encountered the Cloud Goddess many times, but she was a divinity of faith, only possessing the power of an immortal emperor.
He wondered if the so-called goddess was one created from faith or someone who reached that realm through her own power. If it was the former, there was nothing to be scared of. Even if she had the power of an immortal sovereign, Gu Longyu was confident he could reach that level. If it was the latter, then the waters were far deeper than he estimated. It had to be said that even the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System had no divinities of law since the end of the primordial era.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
From what Gu Longyu investigated, the Death Goddess Planetary Alliance had exactly four hundred sixty thousand three hundred sixty-two years of recorded history. Compared to the Huang Realm’s three million years of history, it seemed small, but this was recorded history. Just searching it up, Gu Longyu could see the events of the first few years of the Goddess Calendar, something that even the Huang Realm could not boast. Perhaps the Buzhou Immortal Sect had records, but they would not be available to the public, and most forces kept their own records.
The reason Gu Longyu could search it up was naturally thanks to the Xiyinet.
The first time Gu Longyu heard the name, it gave him an unpleasant feeling because it reminded him of Tianyi and Yinian. He knew that Tianyi had the surname Xi, but he had never cared about it, and both Tianyi and his son had the “Yi” character in their names. The Xi in their surname and the Yi in their given names were exactly the same as the “Xiyi” in the Xiyinet.
Gu Longyu just chalked it up to coincidence.
After all, if Tianyi or Yinian had such a background, one wouldn’t have been killed by him and the other wouldn’t be continuously seeking revenge.
Because of the presence of the Xiyinet, gathering information was incredibly easy. Gu Longyu did not visit any forces to interrogate people, but he was still able to get a gist of the general situation with ease thanks to it.
It was both a boon and a bane for him. Information disseminated incredibly swiftly thanks to the Xiyinet, meaning that if he offended a powerful force, they could easily tell everyone. Although he could still don a disguise, it would mean that he had to continually hide his face until he had enough power to destroy the enemy organization.
Conversely, it meant that gathering information would become incredibly easy. Even if he couldn’t search for the truth of the matter, he could still infer some things from context clues. Not that there weren’t any downsides to this—Gu Longyu discovered that many people often tricked others online.
He was ashamed to say that he had fallen for it twice. The worst part was that, because of the identity protection, he couldn’t find the people behind the screen and teach them a lesson.
Through the Xiyinet, Gu Longyu discovered that the Death Goddess Planetary Alliance also had ascenders. Unlike the ascenders of the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System, these ascenders all came from distant planets after they reached a certain level. He didn’t find any exact data, as it was stored within the alliance archives, and Gu Longyu did not have access. The only information he had right now was public information that even a mortal could search up.
Still, he sensed that this ascension was different. It felt more artificial. Originally, he suspected that the goddess was someone who majored in the Law of Death, but that might not necessarily be true. Of course, there could also be another cultivator on the same level or beyond the death goddess’s power.
Gu Longyu even suspected that he was originally in a realm artifact and forcibly plucked out and added to the outer world. Of course, he dismissed it. Planet Dragonsleep was too strange and beyond the norm of the realm artifacts he had seen. He was more inclined to believe that this was some sort of grand scheme or layout.
It was looking like this so-called goddess of death was an immortal who had broken through to the Divine Realm with a law.
After another month of getting used to everything, Gu Longyu arrived at the Interplanetary Teleportation Array Outpost. As the name suggested, it was a formation that allowed the denizens of Planet Radiata to teleport to other planets.
Most cultivators never left their home planet, and even true immortals rarely did. Of course, it did not mean mortal cultivators never left. Many cultivators fleeing from their enemies used the portal to escape to another planet. It wasn’t free, and although the cost was judged based on the passenger’s realm, it was still not something the average cultivator could afford.
Gu Longyu hid his cultivation base and pretended to be a mortality-shedding saint. The currency of the Death Goddess Planetary Alliance was something completely different from that of Planet Dragonsleep. They didn’t even use spirit stones. Most people would convert their spirit stones into Xiyicoins and use them to purchase and sell items. Because the Xiyicoins were linked to the user, even if someone got hold of the Xiyi Talisman, they could not transfer them. The only way would be to kidnap the user and coerce them into transferring the Xiyicoins, but that would leave records.
Luckily, no matter which world, there would always be fiendish cultivators. Banditry became increasingly difficult because of the Xiyinet, but that didn’t mean it did not exist. Although the Xiyinet could directly transfer goods, it came at a high price. To save on costs and increase profits, many forces and businesses still delivered items in person.
Of course, Gu Longyu did not think of robbing people himself. No, he wanted to rob the robbers.
Because of their identities, they would often immediately convert all resources into Xiyicoins. Even if it was expensive, they would purchase items on the Xiyinet and have the products delivered to them at a premium.
What irony. The presence of the Xiyinet made robbery less common, but because of its presence, it was much harder to find the bandits once they escaped. The Xiyinet was not the law, but a service.
Although it might be difficult for the top forces to find the bandits, it was no problem for Gu Longyu. His combat power and experience were at the peak of Planet Radiata. If he was lucky, the bandits would not have converted the items into Xiyicoins since they were useful.
The Xiyinet had a service to convert resources and spirit stones into Xiyicoins, but it could only convert Xiyicoins into spirit stones and no other resources. Because of this, cultivators only converted spirit stones into Xiyicoins and opted to keep the other resources in their spatial rings. The Xiyinet also offered storage services, but outside of incredibly important items, not many chose to do so because it was expensive.
“I want to go to Planet Heavensong,” Gu Longyu said to the clerk.
The clerk looked at him. Because of the high cost, there really wasn’t a line at the Interplanetary Teleportation Array Outpost. He took out his Xiyi Talisman and scanned Gu Longyu. After a moment, the clerk raised an eyebrow, but he still stated the price. “One hundred million Xiyicoins.”
Gu Longyu’s eyes nearly popped out. “Why is it so high? I clearly checked. Even if I wanted to teleport alone, there’s no reason the price should be this high. You’re not trying to cheat me, are you?”
The clerk showed no panic and rolled his eyes. “Do you think you’re the only one who wanted to minimize cost? Tsk. A high and mighty immortal monarch pretending to be a little saint. You’ve made all immortals lose face!”
