Back inside his capsule, Noah dived into the virtual world and was met with a familiar screen.
"Of course!" He shouted excited
The darkness was suddenly filled with light and Noah found himself in a large room made of metal.
He was currently human but quickly he felt his body reduce to a height of 150 cm and his lean muscle build turned muscular but still fitting for his body.
"Okay then! Seems I get eight tutorials for Nebula. Hmm... five of them are probably types everyone needs to learn to have basic knowledge like moving in 0G and mining. The 2.5G movement is probably a dwarf racial tutorial so that I can already get used to the feel and finally two are from the skill set. Alright let’s begin!" Noah says.
With the female voice saying that the room flashed brightly and when he looked again he found several dozen workout machines.
This scene was nothing new to Noah, he had played in many different VR games and most that had different races then human offered this kind of tutorial.
That said, it wasn't the first time he played as a dwarf and even more specifically, this exact configuration and height and look. It was a size he was already comfortable with but still all games differ one way or another.
In this particular game, dwarves possess a bone density 3 times higher than any other race. This causes the bones to be extremely tough but at the same time they are much heavier. The muscles obviously evolved to be able to handle this and as such unless dwarves are on a high gravity planet their heavier bones won't do much. Not unless you are a player and have never been to a planet with more than 1 G.
"Damn! This body feels so much heavier than I expected! Maybe the extra height made me weight more!" Noah complained as he started walking but having a hard time due to the weight of his own body.
It was an awkward walk for him as he simply walked around.
"AI! Do we gain statsa for training in the tutorial?" Noah asked.
This makes Noah brighten up at the prospect of being able to gain more stats. The physical proficiency one will be important because simply moving this heavy body needs a higher strength.
And so he began to walk around the huge room.
At first it was a bit awkward but soon he gained a stat in physical proficiency making the stress of his body lessen. Then he shifted how he walked slowly getting faster and more towards a normal walk. After a while he gained a second point in physical proficiency and agility making it possible to walk more normally.
So he began jogging and soon running.
The tutorial room doesn't implement the stamina during tuturial period so we can continuously move about without getting tired.
After four hours the tall dwarf could easily move his own body and had gained a total of 5 physical proficiency , 2 agility, 3 resilience and 1 dexterity.
Finally being able to move normally in the heavier body he walked over to some exercise machines. The first was a treadmill. The dwarf agility is naturally low but he doesn't want to move at a snail's pace so jumping onto the machine and started running.
After two hours of running using three fourths of his physical proficiency he was satisfied with the 5 extra agility points he gained.
The other machines were strength machines but he could do his own martial arts while he was at it.
There was one particular machine he was accustomed to. It used tension rods to exert lots of force.
This one had straps for the legs and arms so he strapped them on and began doing a few moves from the martial arts he learned through his father.
He spent some three hours on this machine and gained 2 physical proficiency and 3 dexterity.
"That was a good workout! Let's see my stats at the moment. Status!" Noah said.
That was a good boost. Physical proficiency seems to increase fast as well probably due to racial.
"Alright! Will do physical training later then. Let’s move on!" Noah says.
As she said that the room flashed and felt his body be covered up.
The next moment, he found myself in the same room he was before but now Noah was wearing armor with a hook and wire on one side of my waist.
As soon as she says that the "pull" on his body from below released him and in Noah’s surprise he jolted making him kick off the floor.
"Wh-what that hell!!" Noah shouted as he started to squirm.
She explained it all so quickly that it took Noah a second reading of the message before he understood.
First he looked around and found several areas with places to hold from. Taking the hook and wire he passed the wire through the hook and tied it after passing it through a small hole near the bottom.
Taking the hook Noah throws it at the closest place which was near the ceiling and was like a hand rail.
The hook passed harmlessly next to it and hit the ceiling.
"Damn it! These aren't magnetic so it's so much harder!" Noah shouted but taking the rope he makes a wave run along the rope to the hook.
The wave causes it to whip itself around the handrail letting him yank himself over.
"Hehe! This is good but need to be quicker or I will get hurt a lot in space if I don't fix the wire quickly enough." Noah muttered as he grabbed the handrail that lit up green as he touched it.
Putting his feet on the ceiling like it was the floor and supporting himself by still holding the handrail he used one arm to tie the wire and hook better.
Then grabbing the wire he looked around and jumped for another handrail across the room.
Not putting much physical proficiency since we wanted to be careful, Noah glided through the air while releasing more wire all the way until he reached the other handrail which he grabbed and began to tie up the wires.
Getting confident he jumped without tying the next rope and headed the next handrail but he put too much force in his impulse so as he grabbed it with his hands his body still hand momentum and it making a circle he hit face first into the wall/floor.
Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation.
The impact, though not life threatening in the least he still felt pain through his armor and had let go of the hand rail. With the impulse from the impact he began to float backwards and as the pain subsided he began to squirm around in a bit of panic.
"Urg! Damnit! 0 G is hard!!" He groaned still in pain.
From there he began to take it slow.
He would grab the rope covering the entire expanse of the room and tie a rope to it before gently pushing off to where he wanted to go.
After he had all ten handrails done he began to link them along the walls being careful as he floated along the walls using the few hand holds he could find to fix his position and push on.
When he was done he had made a huge net in the room that would allow him to move through the room easily but this was just for a tutorial since a real station would have items in the way.
He felt he had gotten good enough for it but he still wondered that the armor was for and looking on the left arm that had the same computer keyboard he pressed the button that looked to turn it on.
"So there was magnetic boots." Noah said.
Well that would have simply stuck him to the walls.
"Let’s see these thrusters." He muttered.
"Simple enough. Up for boots and forward for the back." He muttered.
Seeing how the room was wide but he was at the center he waited until he reacted a wire nearby and pulled himself to the wall.
"Okay then..." Noah muttered before thinking "Up".
His boot vibrated and let out a circular wave of energy that pushed him slowly. After three seconds a new one released making him move a bit faster making him thing "stop" to his surprise from his shoulders are and torse a new pulse was released countering the momentum.
Seeing how well it worked he thought "Up" again and moved to the wall and "Stopped".
He used the wall to straighten himself and thought forward. A strong impulse from his back quickly pushed him and before he could stop due to panicking he let himself slam into the other wall.
"T-that...hurt!" He muttered through a strained voice.
"Please...move on to...the next tutorial." He muttered.
A bright light lit the room up and the pain vanished with all the wire he used.
He appeared at the center of the room again with gravity. The room had exercise gear like the first one. The beginner dwarven armor was equipped on Noah.
Reading the message it pretty much said, "We will be adding 20% more weight to your weight until you can't move."
Since it was like that it meant that this was an intensive physical training.
"The dwarf armor was supposed to support the body in these high gravity places I think." Noah muttered.
He began to jog and as the 10 minutes hit the first time his body suddenly increased in weight causing him to slow down momentarily before he began to push a bit more.
After twenty minutes the second wave came making him push more and sweat started to form.
The agility stat had begun to rise after the third wave and during the ten minutes of jogging he gained 1 point.
When the fourth increase came he was forced to his knees for a minute until could force himself up and start walking again.
During this time he gained 1 point in physical proficiency and 2 in resilience.
When the gravity hit 2 G he had hit the floor.
The weight had been too much but that was when the armor was changed into a standard high gravity suit.
It helped him get up and he walked again quickly gaining the remaining 2 points of physical proficiency he needed to cap physical proficiency .
The gravity tutorial ended when he couldn't get up after 2.2 G.
The room flashed and everything was gone and now a table with a glass ball was left.
Nodding and walking over he sat on the single chair there and put both his hands on the ball. It was like those tesla balls that have the electricity focus on your hand.
The Psi went into his hand through the glass and he instantly felt the energy.
He couldn't feel Psi in the air which it should have. This was probably because the AI simply didn't do anything.
He close his eyes and focused on it.
It felt tranquil as it flowed through his body. Mana is similar but had more volume to it.
In his trance he could feel it moving around and gathering at the center of his brain.
Noah opened his eyes with the message.
Smiling Noah felt for the energy and easily found it.
When he looked at the table there were tons of small items from gears to coins to plastic cups.
So it was pretty much control and move stuff. In short, Telekinesis.
Noah pulls the smallest coin forward. It was an old american dime.
He held his hand over it coin and tried to move the Psi from his brain to his hand then out of his hand and grasp the coin.
He could move it to his hand but only trace amounts would leave his hand and so he pushed and pushed.
After 2 hours of pushing the dime began to twitch. Noah’s forehead was covered in sweat and his head was pounding in pain.
He let his hand drop and his head followed as it dropped to the table.
“This… must be… dwarfs bad part!” He muttered.
“Wow... this is the first I ever heard of an AI telling how it calculates the stats of a player.” Noah muttered.
The feminine voice said accompanied the text boxes.
Noah called up his status window to make sure what he have.
After doing some counting Noah found the numbers matched.
“Well, nothing to do but painfully train through it.” He muttered.
And so he began to focus like what he did when he played mage classes. He gathered as much Psi in his hands but it didn’t leave his hand except in a few spots so he concentrated on those spots. The spots were at the tips of his fingers and as he flooded the exits it began to slowly expand, though painfully both mentally and physically.
Still after an hour Noah finally had the dime Levitating.
Breathing heavily he gets up.
“I’m going to take a break and return.” He mutter and left the game to eat and refresh himself.
