Chapter 1
The Birth of Phantom.
Alter Gaia finally release today. It’s 1 of the kind game available in the market. It’s the 1st VR
game develop by Myth Corp. Jefferson, a game addict, have to line up for 2 days just to hope that he
can get his hand on the game set. The set include a VR headset, Alter Gaia game and beginner guide
book.
It will cost him months of his salary just to get 1 of the set. However that’s not a problem
since Myth Corp announces the release date a year before. He has enough time to save up the money.
Before the announcement, people use to play MMORPG using computer. Jefferson is one of them;
however he has a lot of bad experience with it.
Player in that time would careless about others. They only care about themselves. They will
not help newbie or guide them how to play nor help them in quest. Jefferson feels sad about this and
created a group of player dedicated to help others.
His group was a success. He manages to gather many players from all around the world. They
only have 1 mission, to help all those who need help. They will provide information, join quest and
even give away unused equipment.
He hopes he can do more in Alter Gaia so that more people will have the same helping spirit.
It will eventually benefit them in the real world as well. That’s his only vision.
Before he gets the game he does a lot of research just to understand more about the game.
Due to the difficulty in Alter Gaia, he decided that he will become a blacksmith to provide weapon to
newbie as well as other player.
Jefferson, now in his own room put on the VR headset and turned it on. His surrounding
suddenly becomes dark. He can’t see anything but he can hear a voice. A gentle and soft voice
“Welcome to Alter Gaia where your fantasy dream come true. What name do you want to use? You
can either use a nickname or your real name but once the name is set you cannot change it”
“Jefferson”
“I’m sorry. The name has been register by other. Please choose another name”
‘Damn it. How come my name been used? Maybe it’s a common name. If I use an uncommon name
then it might not been use. Let try Phantom’
“Is Phantom available?”
“Yes”
“Then I will use Phantom as my name for the game” “What race will you like to be? Currently we have human, elf, dark elf and dwarf”
“Human will do for me”
“Would you like to edit your character? You can change your face, hair, hair color skin color. Other
will be same as your normal live body.”
“Let all be the same as I was in real life”
“Which village would you like to born in?”
“Any village will do for me. Thank you very much”
Suddenly all in front turn white. After a few second it turned black again.

Phantom slowly opens his eye, a bright sun light shine upon his face. He looks around his
surrounding and tries to stand up. His behavior is just like a new born baby trying to stand for the 1st
time. It feels awkward that he need to learn how to stand and walk again.
He found himself in an open grass field. He touched the grass to feel it. The sensation is just
as real as real life. Phantom run around and feels the wind. He can smell sea in the air. That’s mean
the sea is nearby here.
After 15 minute of running he heard some sound. It’s the sound of hammering. To be correct
it’s the sound of smithing, not far from where he stands. He followed the sound and arrived to a small
village.
The village gate is make from pure steel with a name plate displaying the village name.
“Brokkr Village”. The village is surrounded by wooden fence. There is a chimney at every house.
Some is make from bricks while other is steel.
‘Brokkr village? As far as I know there is no beginner village with this name during my research.
Might be a new village they add in during the final phase.’
As Phantom enter the village a message pop up in front of him.

‘I’m the 1st player who arrives to this village? How come? I thought this is beginner village. Does that
mean there are no other beginners who arrive here other than me? This could be beneficial to me.’
Phantom look around while standing at the entrance. In front of him is a dwarf bronze statue.
The dwarf is holding a hammer while 1 of his leg put on top of an anvil. He is wearing a Viking like
helmet and he have facial hair all around his face. He also wears goggle, a pair of glove, leather apron
for smithing and a pair of boot. There are 2 rows of houses and shop facing the entrance, behind the statue is a valley with
more house and shop. There are human children running here and there playing around. As he look
around more he realize the sound he heard is echoing all over the place. Look like there are more than
1 blacksmith shops in this village.
He walks toward the statue to have a closer look. He was wondering why a dwarf statue will
appear in a human village. When he touched the statue a message pops up for him.

Statue Name: Brokkr
Description: A statue of Brokkr the Legendary Blacksmith. Legend has it he single handedly forge
10,000 sword and armor for an entire army when the ancient war is in place. It’s also say that he is the
only blacksmith who can forge weapon with element. No one know where he went when the ancient
war end. For 500 years no one has ever see him anywhere.
‘This is interesting. I never encounter this so call Legendary Blacksmith when doing research on Alter
Gaia.’
“Excuse me young man, are you a traveler?”
Phantom turned around and saw an elderly man standing behind him. The elderly look like in
his 70’s, with hunchback, full white hair, wrinkle all over his face and hand, around 5’7’’ and look
very weak. He walk with a cane in his hand, he wear a leather cloth with boots.
“You surprise me dear sir, yes I’m a traveler.”
“We rarely have any traveler around here, since this island is surrounded by whirlpool and storm.
Normal traveler cannot get in here easily.”
“I just woke up at this island. I don’t know anything that happening around here. By the way my name
is Phantom and you are?”
“Ah! How silly of me. I’m Stephan, chief of Brokkr village. Do you need anything my dear traveler?”
“It’s my honor to meet you Sir Stephan, as I said just now that I woke up in this island without
knowing anything about it. Do you care to brief me about this island?”
“The honor is mine. You can just call me Stephan. This island is called Smith Island. It’s surrounded
by whirlpool all around it. Normal traveler will not reach this island. It’s must be a miracle that you
arrive here unharmed.”
“Indeed Stephan. May why a dwarf statue in this human village? I did not see any dwarf anywhere.”
“That’s a good question. Brokkr is born in this island between a dwarf and human. This is his
hometown. He is the 1st blacksmith in this island. He also forged many legendary weapons as well as
normal and great weapon. Maybe 1 day you will get to use 1 of his work.”
“I see. I hope I can see this great blacksmith when he is alive.”
“You seem to have great interest on Brokkr, youngster. Do perhaps have any free time to hear a
humble request of mine?”
“How can I help you Stephan?” “There is a rumor pass down by my grandfather by his grandfather. A rumor passes down by our
ancestor. It’s said that Brokkr actually return to this island 500 years ago. My ancestor saw Brokkr

went into the north forest alone and never come out. He might go to the legendary Element Mine in
the forest. Can you fulfill my curiosity?”
Quest Acquire
Quest Name: Brokkr Resting Place
A rumor has it that Brokkr, after the ancient war goes back to Smith Island.
He is last seen entering the northern forest and never to be seen again.
Stephan the current chief of Brokkr village ask you to investigate the rumor to
fulfill his curiosity on this rumor.

“Sure Stephan. I will investigate this rumor for you. May I ask why did you not go there yourself?”

are blacksmith and not adventurer nor swordman. We cannot defeat the FerPitch'e Hound. You who is
a traveler from another land might be able to do it.”

“Wait a minute Phantom, here is some bread for you when you get hungry. This knife is for you to
protect yourself.”

‘So I start will level0 stat look quite balance and suitable for blacksmith but why is my luck is 900? I
though beginners total stat points was 60. Maybe it’s a glitch. Well, not my problem then.”
Phantom decided to gain some experience and level before heading to search at the north. He
head back to the grass field where he was previously.
He found some rabbits, raccoons, and dog roaming at the grass field. You can see the dog is
hunting the rabbit and raccoon. He chooses the rabbit as his 1st
prey.
He 1st observed the behavior of the rabbit and raccoon since they look harmless. Rabbit will
just jump here and there while raccoon will hide when human approach them.

Skill Level: Basic 1 (0%) When you focus your eye to observe enemy you will be able to see the basic information of your
enemy such as name, hp and sp. You will get some description about the enemy as well. Higher level
will reduce the time to focus on the enemy.
‘That a good skill. Let try it out’
Phantom focuses his eye and look at the rabbit near him. It took about 5 second for the
information window to pop up.

A normal rabbit that hope around. You can easily find them near beginner village.
‘It should not be too hard for me to kill a rabbit. Let try it’
Phantom approach the rabbit as slow as he can and then stab the rabbit from behind.

He keeps on slashing the rabbit as the rabbit get into confuse. Before he know it the rabbit had
die.

In Alter Gaia you need get material from monster corpse using various skills. You can
skinned it, remove the scale, cut the horns and more.
Phantom start to skinned the rabbit and cut the meat. He put the hide and meat into his bag
after the work is done. He checks the status window to see how many percentage of exp he gained
from a single rabbit.

‘Seem like I can level up after I kill 6 more rabbits.’
Phantom looks around for another rabbit and approaches it. This time he try to attack it head
on to determine how much damage did the rabbit do. He slashed the rabbit in the head.

The rabbit start to attack Phantom at the same time dodge his attack. Rabbit has high agility
which makes him easy to dodge incoming attack.

Same as previous rabbit, Phantom skinned it for more material. He killed 5 more rabbit and
gain 1 level. Observe skill also level up by 1. He also obtained a new skill.

Allow you to gather material from dead monster or surrounding faster. The material you get also will
be better in quality and more in quantity.
‘Now I can gather more material and faster and I have 10 stat points. Since I want to be a blacksmith I
should increase my Dex and Str.’ He distributes all the stat points equally to Dex and Str. He hunted rabbit for a few hours more
and gained a total of 2 levels. Observe skill also level up twice and now he can use it if he focuses
only for 3 second. Material gathering skill also level up twice.
Phantom now level 3 started to hunt raccoon because rabbit give him less exp compared to
before. Raccoon is a little trickier to hunt. They move faster than rabbit and deal more damage. He
also needs to hunt longer but it’s also not a treat to him.
‘Maybe I should hunt some dog instead’
He found a lonely dog nearby and slowly approached it. He observed the dog and gained it
information.
