The fairy tale films playing inside the Wonderland 6D Cinema aren't long, each only about half an hour.
Before many visitors could even process it, the show was already over.
Once the seats opened, the visitors slowly came back to their senses.
"It's over?"
"That was so fast!"
"I want to watch it again!"
The visitors said, still feeling a bit lost in the experience.
They felt something unique in this 6D Cinema.
They experienced an immersive movie for the first time.
They had their first face-to-face encounter with virtual reality technology.
Each experience was one-of-a-kind, deeply shocking and impacting their minds.
Even Matt, who had been dreaming about the virtual reality arcade, took a while to come out of it.
The other parents who were there for the first time were also slowly coming back to reality.
One of the parents said to their kid, "Honey, how about we come back next week for another movie? You liked it, didn't you?"
The kid paused for a second and said, "Dad, I don't want to. I want to play games at home next week!"
The parent said sternly, "No, you want to!"
Then he covered the mouth of his kid, who was trying to say they didn't want to.
"Honey, let's go!" Matt said, standing up and looking like he was in a hurry.
"Alright, alright. Seeing how eager you are, let's go home," Lisa said.
"No, we're not going home!" Matt said.
"Not going home?" Lisa asked, surprised. "Then where are we going? Weren't you just complaining about wanting to go home and code?"
"To the virtual reality arcade at this amusement park!" Matt said firmly, not allowing for any disagreement.
Then, led by Matt, the family of three left the 6D Cinema and headed straight for the virtual reality arcade.
Along the way, Matt, a middle-aged man with thinning hair and a bit of a belly, moved with incredible speed, like a track athlete.
"Dad, slow down!"
"Honey, are you trying to get to the afterlife quickly?"
Lisa and Melody were having a hard time.
The two of them were chasing after him, panting. Luckily, the Wonderland 6D Cinema wasn't far from the virtual reality arcade.
This content has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
Otherwise, after running for a while longer, the mother and daughter wouldn't even be able to see Matt's exhaust fumes.
Soon, an egg-shaped building appeared in front of the family.
It was the virtual reality arcade that Matt had been dreaming about.
Matt's eyes lit up. Just as one foot stepped into the virtual reality arcade, he was suddenly pulled back by someone behind him.
"What are you doing!" Matt yelled, his eyes as big as bells, furious.
He felt like he was about to experience something amazing, but was suddenly interrupted.
The guy who pulled Matt was a young dude, shouting, "Do you know anything about waiting in line? If you want to play, go to the back!"
Wait in line?
Matt was taken aback and looked back.
Only then did he see a long queue on the side of the virtual reality arcade, stretching as far as the eye could see.
There were men and women, old and young, all kinds of people.
The only thing they had in common was that they were all glaring at him angrily.
"Don't you have any manners?"
"Can't you see so many people are waiting in line?"
"If you dare to cut in line, I'll beat you up!"
Matt had no choice but to stand at the back of the line like a good boy.
Looking at the long queue in front of him, Matt sighed like a wilted eggplant.
Just then, a sneaky-looking young guy approached Matt.
Matt immediately became alert and scolded, "What are you doing getting so close? Trying to cut in line?"
The young guy laughed, "Not cutting in line. I just want to ask if you want to get in faster!"
Matt paused.
The virtual reality arcade was so popular that it had spawned Ticket Scalpers.
"What do you mean? You have a way?" Matt asked quickly, his eyes lighting up.
"Five hundred bucks, and I guarantee you can get in!" the young guy said, smiling.
Five hundred.
Matt thought for a moment and said, "Deal!"
As a technical vice president, his annual salary wasn't low. Five hundred bucks was nothing to him!
"Come with me!" After receiving the money, the young guy led Matt forward, all the way to the front of the line.
Matt wondered how the young guy would get him in legitimately.
Was he colluding with the arcade staff, or did he have someone waiting in line who would switch places with him?
The answer was revealed quickly.
Just as someone inside the virtual reality arcade finished playing and a machine became available, the young guy blocked the long queue from moving forward.
Matt was dumbfounded and said, "This...this?!"
"What are you waiting for? Get in there! I'll stay here and argue with them!" the young guy shouted.
Damn! He'd been coding at home so much he'd lost touch with how things work. So that’s how Ticket Scalpers operate these days!
Matt subconsciously entered the virtual reality arcade. Before leaving, he saw the young guy getting beat up by a bunch of people, which made him sigh.
"Making a buck isn’t easy, no matter what you do!"
Matt didn't forget what he was there for. He went straight to the empty machine, nervously lay down on it, and started the machine according to the instructions next to it.
After the machine's start button was pressed, the hatches on the left and right sides extended and closed together.
With his experience in the 6D Cinema, Matt was much calmer.
He closed his eyes slightly. When he heard a sound in his ear, he opened his eyes again and found himself in another world.
Around him was a boundless void. Stars in countless distant galaxies turned into twinkling lights in the void, adding a bit of warmth to the cold, lonely space.
Under Matt's feet were huge, rotating planets.
These planets were all different. Some planets were like Earth, with a blue exterior, with vast oceans and continuous mountains visible on the continents.
Other planets were gas giants, with visible storm cyclones that tore apart everything in their path. Not even oceans and land could stop them.
The realistic scene kept Matt from snapping out of it for a long time.
It was too shocking!
He could imagine how crazy gamers would be if such a game was released!
At that time, the government would probably need to introduce relevant policies to restrict the game. Otherwise, countless people would become addicted to the virtual world, ruining their studies and careers in the real world.
Just then, a few beams of light flew out from a green planet.
In a moment, the beams of light transformed into human figures.
"Wow, a sub-6-minute run! Amazing!”
"He's too strong! I stumbled and bumbled for an hour before I could complete the Green Hell track, but he can run it so fast!"
"Let's not talk about that. The boss said that if someone could run it in under 6 minutes, the new game would be unlocked. Racing games are fun, but they get a little boring after playing them too much. I want to play the new game!"
"We'll know if the new game is unlocked if we go take a look!"
