Doctor J.O
Medical Wing, Main Bunker
August 6th, 2153, 13:03 Hours
To say the situation we are in is dire, would be an overstatement? In the last half hour since Shark began his artillery bombardment against the Lizard people as they were called, around 6 people had come in with second degree burns all were people who were operating the Artillery guns.
“Doctor!” Someone from the door yelled, however beneath that I heard hurried footsteps.
I gave a sigh, “Let me guess another burn?” I calmly said, it may have come off as a little rude but the reality is I am not a doctor, I am still a nurse in training still studying to become a Pediatrician. I turned to the door and instead of a single person with some sort of burn or cut, instead it was a stormtrooper medic without their helmet. There was a plus on their arm denoting their position as a medic.
“No, it's the Colonel, they’ve been shot.” The medic reported.
I hurriedly approached the medic, “Where is she?” I asked.
“She is being rushed here from down the hallway. She’s passed out and is bleeding internally.” He added.
“Get in here and clear the way for them.” I ordered.
The medic entered as I rushed to get my surgical equipment out, at that moment a stormtrooper and Major Punisher rushed in with a bloodied and passed out Colonel with a lieutenant stormtrooper in tow. The same person I treated at the beginning for shooting an anti-tank rifle at solid nitrogen that is supposedly the most energy dense non nuclear material to ever exist.
“Carefully place her on the bed on the far wall and make room for emergency surgery!” I yelled, the storm troopers did as I ordered, the Colonel was on the bed and the surrounding beds were haphazardly pushed away from the bed the colonel was on.
I hadn’t had time to get the proper surgical equipment together, but if I do fuck up hopefully any damage I do will be repaired by the healing solution.
“What are her injuries?” I asked, as I pushed the cart with some of my surgical equipment next to the bed.
“3 Gunshot wounds, a bullet in her left shoulder, abdomen, and upper right thigh. She also reported that her left arm and right leg were paralyzed and that she couldn’t feel any pain.” The medic quickly reported
“Thank you, I’ll inform y’all once the Colonel is awake.” I said.
Major Punisher nodded “I’ll be waiting in the war room for her status.” I nodded, and he left with the other stormtrooper. Leaving me with the Colonel.
I got to work, first removing the bandage on her right thigh. There I saw the one sided hole the bullet had made, with the round surprisingly not having broken through the bone and instead appeared to have deformed, weirdly enough. I checked for a pulse just in case I was operating on a dead body. There was a pulse.
I carefully removed the bullet, and to my surprise the bullet was deformed. Yet from what little I can see the femur was just fine. “Really what kind of milk? Because those are not any normal bones.” I said to myself.
I placed the deformed bullet on the nearby table. After that I grabbed a bandage and wrapped it tightly around the thigh to slow any internal blood loss. Next I moved to the shoulder, the story here was the same as the femur. The bullet was deformed and somehow the bones that made up the shoulder didn’t seem cracked or broken though I wouldn’t know until she woke up.
Now I was at the abdomen, it would likely be the least prettiest of all the injuries. I took several deep breaths, at least I have the healing solutions, hopefully it’ll work after I remove the bullet.
I had the healing solution ready to heal on the table with my equipment, and I got to work. Quickly removing the bandages that were tightly wrapped around the Colonels abdomen, a small hole was at about the area where the large intestine was, I began to dig for the bullet, without help from an ultrasound or even a camera to help me see what I’m grabbing at will make this much more difficult. After what felt like an eternity worth of digging, I got the bullet.
Pulling it out revealed that this one wasn’t as deformed as the ones that had hit bone, and as a result was still relatively pointy. After placing the bullet down, I switched my tweezers for the syringe which contained the healing solution. I didn’t bother with alcohol wiping it simply because the hole would be gone after I pulled it.
I turned over the left arm and looked for one of the largest veins that I could find and a moment later I broke the skin and inserted it into the bloodstream. After that I injected the light red liquid and pushed it out into the bloodstream, and once all of it was out I pulled the syringe from the skin and no bleed happened. There I watched the liquid repair injuries that either would have taken weeks of normal healing or that MIR looking healing machine that promotes cell development and healing over the span of a few days performing several hour long sessions by just laying in it. The healing solution was healing one of the worst injuries I’ve been asked to deal with so far since we first got here in a matter of minutes.
The bullet wounds were just gone, there weren’t any complications or slow downs, at least yet. The wounds were healed and I checked the Colonel's pulse one more time and it was beating steadily. She was still knocked out cold, I hope she doesn’t have any brain damage.
I decided to leave her keeping an eye on her recovery, thankfully it was quiet. Only a slight vibration shaking everything ever so slightly.
”Wait?” I paused myself, “Wasn’t there supposed to be an artillery bombardment going on right now?” I asked myself.
Normally you’d be able to hear the rumbling of the artillery even when you were underground but I didn’t hear anything. “Am I going deaf?” I mumbled to myself.
I moved to the mirror which was situated above the cabinet near the entrance. There I noticed my cat was pressed down, the ear canal no longer being able to get most sounds in.
“Interesting…” I mumbled to myself, “The ears have muscles.” I moved to grab my notebook on the real life anatomy and physiology of the Kyntari, and added a line to the ear section.
‘The surrounding flesh of the ear has muscles that allow them to close.’ Why do the Kyntari have ears that can close? I don’t know but that’s another thing I’ll have to research.
Despite my closed ears I heard what was essentially a person booting up after being unconscious for a while. I looked back and I saw the Colonel starting to move, she gave some annoyed groans and soon afterwards muttered “What the hell?”
I moved to the bed by the side of the Colonel, who started to get up and pick herself up from the bed. She looked over to me, “Oh, doctor. Am I in medical?” She asked.
”I just took some bullets out of you. How do you feel?” I asked, she gave me a nod. I noticed her ears were closed meaning she was somehow hearing me despite no sound getting in.
”I feel alright, in fact I can feel the bed sheets and move my limbs.” She moved her hand against the bed sheets.
“That’s good, do you remember what happened last before you were here?” I asked.
”I had the strangest dream. I want to start with that first as I don’t want to forget it.” She said, I gave an understanding nod, dreams are quite hard to remember.
”What was it?” I asked.
”All I remember from it was me floating in some liquid, in some type of tank. All around me I only saw other tanks with what appeared to be children. It was bright outside the tank, but there wasn’t a blue or red sky, just a point of light.” She answered.
”These children, how old would you say they were? And are there any other details about them?” I asked, hopefully to get her brain working. Dreams were how the way the brain organizes information and being able to recall some details from it were impressive.
”I would say about 7 years old, some were boys, others girls.” The Colonel answered.
”Is there anything else to this dream?”
She didn’t immediately respond, like she was transfixed on the dream attempting to recall the uncallable. But after a moment she answered.. “I am pretty sure in the dream the ground slowly turned up like you were in a rotating habitat. That is all I can remember from the dream. Overall it felt more like a still image than an active dream.” She answered.
“Interesting, did the dream feel like a familiar place?” I asked.
She didn’t immediately respond, and her face quickly grew confused. “Surprisingly, yes, it feels familiar. Even though I don’t recall ever being in such a habitat with that many tanks honestly now that I think about it, they appeared to be some type of artificial womb.” She answered.
”That is intriguing, sorry I don’t know how to respond when someone tells me their dreams.” I said.
”No, it's alright. My own brain ordered the information in a way that it understands and language sadly isn’t capable of truly turning that kind of information into words.” She said, shaking her head. She gave a sigh.
”Alright, back on track to what I was planning to ask. I will be doing a full physical on you.” I said.
”Go ahead, doctor.” She said.
”By the way I studied to become a pediatrician so I am not a doctor.” I corrected her.
”No, you are our chief medical officer.”
I gave an exasperated sigh, will I ever get people to understand?.

“So doctor. Why do I need to do this?” I asked, Doctor J.O was setting some sort of cognitive, vision test.
”You were internally bleeding for more than half an hour, and I don’t know whether or not the healing solution is able to heal any potential brain damage from losing too much blood. So Colonel please take the test I had to hastily draw up in the last half hour since you woke up.” J.O said.
”Alright.” I said, “What are we doing first?” I asked.
”Let’s do the vision test as it was the easiest to make out of the two.” J.O said, he moved over to about the middle of the room “Please stand right here.” He said, I did as ordered.
J.O now had a large white board, from where ever the fuck he had gotten it from. “Tell me, can you read the first letter?” He asked.
”Yes, a large E. I know how these vision tests work.” I said.
”Ok, this line.” I could read just fine, and he continued to move down till the smallest line of letters which I surprisingly could see really well at this distance for that size of letter.
”Your vision is perfect at least according to this hastily drawn up eye exam.” J.O said.
”That's surprising, I don’t think I ever had eyesight this good even after my vision correction surgery.” I said.
”I guess there are advantages to being in a new body.” J.O said, he brought out a piece of paper, it had hand written questions, along with a pencil. “This here is a simple cognition test, usually I’d have equipment that could help me see if there is any issues with your brain but I have to pray you won’t fuck with me.”
You might be reading a pirated copy. Look for the official release to support the author.
I nodded and took the paper. There were 4 questions, two on the front and two on the back. The questions asked were shape recognition, counting the sides of shape, a word choice math question, and a simple how do you feel question that specified a few symptoms of what counted as brain damage.
I answered all four with quick ease. “Is that it?” I asked.
”Yes, come back if you get dizzy, confused, or really anything that may be a concern for your health.” J.O said.
I nodded, “I will, thank you for taking care of me Doctor.” I said.
J.O gave an exasperated sigh “As I said I am not a certified doctor.“
I gave a smirk to him Like the kind of smirk I’d have after getting a devious idea while I was in high school. “And it's a job title you‘ll have to endure as you’ve shown you are one of the best medical practitioners in town, accept the title you will be expected to do doctorly things.” I got up and headed towards the door.
”Doctorly things? What do you mean by that?” J.O exclaimed, getting visibly confused. A moment later he realized what I meant and gave another exasperated sigh.
”Well, Doctor J.O am I dismissed?” I asked.
J.O got himself out of his confused state and turned once more back to his more professional voice, that he held whenever I wasn’t calling him doctor and the conversation was related to my health. ”Yes you are, I understand the situation we are in necessitates your presence elsewhere. But I will ask you to return here immediately if any major happens to you.” J.O said.
I nodded, “Have a good day, Doctor.” I said exiting out of the medical wings door.
”Before you go, I would like to add that Major Punisher said he is waiting in the War Room, he says he’s going to give you a report on the situation. I’ve also informed the other Majors but to my knowledge they are topside commanding the battalion. ” J.O said.
I nodded, “Alright thank you.” I left the medical wing and started going to the War Room. I was sure I could feel vibrations in the ground all around me, the hallway of the mainbunker was empty, no one was in the living quarters which was just rows upon rows of double bunk beds, I saw less than a dozen people in that area in their bed all looked like they were nursing some injuries. Unfinished plates of food were still on the beds, I also heard a shower on at the end was a double door that likely had enough showers in there for at least half the beds in here to get clean.
I continued onto the war room, passing the supply closet on my left which surprisingly had a lot of supply in there. But I couldn’t dwell on the supply closet as I was across from the War Room.
Entering it I found Punisher, crouching over a map, placing dozens of chess pieces on it. “Ceo, are you alright?” He asked.
”Yes, I am. Thank you. So what is your report?” I asked.
”Oh, yeah.” Punisher said, carefully stepping back from the map. “It’s currently incomplete, but it's a map of our current defensive set up. Or really planned, last I heard some units are still getting to their positions.” He said.
RIght now the chess pieces placed were largely pawns tightly crammed into a wide but short defensive line around the main bunker, and the next line of bunkers. On and around the spot where the main bunker was ten rooks, and 3 bishops.
”Right now we are in a defensive position, with artillery doing most of the shooting.” Punisher started.
I nodded, “Are we planning on going on the offensive or what?” I asked.
Punisher shook his head, “Not yet at least, right now Shark is testing the strength of the fortifications and its defenders. Shark planning on just bombing them for the next 4 hours with artillery, after the four hours.” He picked up two rooks and pushed them closer towards the lizard's fortifications. “he is going to send in two squads of light tanks with the entire stormtrooper company trailing them, they are going to test the feasibility of a direct assault and get an idea of their capabilities.” Punisher said.
”How long will it be until then?” I asked.
”The artillery bombardment is slated to end at about 17:00 hours, and the Stormtroopers are going to move out 30 minutes later. So in about 3 and half hours or so.” He answered.
I nodded my head, “Any specific plan of action? Like the direction of our assault?” I asked.
“Shark said he is planning on going essentially in a straight line directly towards their front door. He can explain it better than me but that's the general gist of the whole plan.”
”Anything else? Like with the tanks?” I asked.
”I’m not too sure, what's going on with the tanks all I know is that FortheLolz is getting the tank crews familiar with the tanks. All I know is that somehow the tanks have changed how exactly you’ll have to see it for yourself.” Punisher said.
I nodded, “Alright, let's go outside then, I’m guessing you’ve been waiting here for a while?”
“Yes, I have. I’ve just been worried for you, that's all. You were the only one out of all of us to get grievously hurt.” He said.
It was at this point when I noticed his hand was bandaged over his left hand. “I can tell.” I said.
Punisher looked at his hand, and I saw that the palm was slightly bloodied. “Yeah, I got cut on my palm while trying to get away from the lizards firing at me. Perkins said it was somewhat deep but not to worry it'll heal itself within due time and not worth using a healing solution on.”
I nodded, “Surprised it wasn’t worse than that.”
Punisher nodded in agreement as he went to the door. “Let’s get going then.” He held it open for me.
”Thank you.” I said, exiting the War Room, Punisher followed suit.
I turned to my right, and headed towards the entrance. We opened the inner door and I was met with the outer door open. Suddenly the soft vibrations I was feeling the entire time I was up were much stronger.
I walked out and looked at the sky, the rumbles came again as a dozen red dots filled the blue sky above me. ”You know I was expecting it to be louder? Considering all the artillery being fired at once.”
“Me too, when I was close to the first volley fired It was extremely loud. When it suddenly got quieter, but not in the whole ears ringing after getting your eardrums blown out, but more like it became muffled like there was an ear plug in your ear. It’s weird because I can hear you perfectly fine whenever you talk but when it's with something that is actually loud it's quiet.” Punisher said.
”Yeah.” I stopped to look at the trees, their leaves were violently shaking from shockwaves yet I couldn’t hear them. “That’s something we’ll need to figure out later.” I said
Punisher nodded, as we started walking again. Another muffled firing of the artillery sounded, there were defensive positions that faced towards the forest, an entire infantry company was positioned in newly built sandbag fortifications that weren’t originally there an hour ago.
”Where is Major Shark?” I asked Punisher.
”Last I heard he was with FortheLolz, setting up the tanks.”
“Alright and the tanks are down there?” I asked, pointing towards the bottom of the hill where it started to get flat, and I answered my own question as I saw all the tanks we had spawned in before the Pordier at Wars shutdown.
We started walking down the hill, there I got a good count of the tanks and an estimate of their size.
12 Light tanks, 6 Landships, and 3 Behemoths. They all were a rotatable turret tank type, the Behemoths were behemoth as in the name the length of 4 small cars and the width of 2 small cars on the top was a massive gun with it being a single barreled battleship canon on the top of it with fire power of a blast spell.
The land ship was smaller, being probably a small car's width and the length of 2 small cars. Its barrel is much smaller with it having essentially an artillery gun, the same ones that are bombing the Lizards right now. It looked a lot like the British MK. IV with a rotatable turret on the top.
Then there was the light tank, it was about tractor size, which was quite small when compared to the two bigger ones. If it did have a real life or “Earth” counterpart it looks a bit like the German Panzers used in World War II, or maybe even the Sherman Tank used by the Americans.
Barring the infantry Holding defensive line, there appeared to be an entire company of engineers there with the tank operators working on the tanks. Whatever the issue was, it looked like it required a lot of brains to work out.
We would arrive there in another 10 minutes and the tanks were big, even the “small” light tanks. But the Behemoth was actually the length of a bus. A look at their tracks showed they actually had sunk a bit into the ground during the days since we arrived here.
”I need to get better at scale.” I said.
”Yeah, I had completely forgotten how big the Behemoths got.” Punisher said.
The closest tank to me was a light tank. A small crew was working on the vehicle, but they weren’t repairing it, it looked like they were figuring out how to work the tank.
There were three rows of tanks with Light tanks in the first row, the Landships in the second and the behemoths in the third. On the ground were tank tracks and there were a lot of them. In fact, it appears as if they had moved all of these tanks here to work on them. A look around confirmed that as here there was only a sandbag wall facing towards the forest the Lizards were in. There were however trenches here with long bridges that would allow for the smaller light tanks to cross them.
There were dozens of people all working on their tanks, it was surprisingly organized and not as crowded as one expected it to be. But this may be due to the lack of any recognizable toolboxes cluttering the place.
“Do you see Shark, or FortheLolz?” I asked Punisher.
”No, I do not.” He said.
“Well we only need to ask.” I said, approaching the closest tank crew.
”Hello.” I said.
The crew of three stopped what they were doing and looked at me, it took only looking at my arm for them to go into a salute.
”Good afternoon Colonel.” They said in unison.
”It's alright, at ease. Do y’all happen to know where Major Shark and Major FortheLolz are?” I asked.
A lieutenant stepped forward, “From what I last heard Shark and FortheLolz is in a Behemoth. I think they are planning or something.” They said.
I nodded, “Thank you, y’all can continue working.” I said. The tank crew nodded as we moved towards the Behemoths.
We approached the middle Behemoth, there were three ways into this monster. Two of them on the sides and one from the turret. A massive engine was on the back, it looked like it could burn 100 gallons of diesel in a mile, or it ran on jet fuel. No in between.
The Behemoths had quite a bit of space between them, they weren’t packed close together like the light tanks.
”Hey, private.” Punisher said to one of the Tank crew members. Who was looking at what appeared to be a fuel line that led to the engine.
The crew member turned, “Oh Major, are you looking for Shark and FortheLolz?” They asked.
”Yes, me and the Colonel are. Do you know where they are at?” He asked.
”They’re inside.” They said pointing to the ground entrance of the Behemoth.
The door looked similar to the blast doors that were in the entrance of the Main Bunker.
”Thank you.”
We headed towards the door which opened outwards to the side. Entering the vehicle there was a machine gun and further towards the center there was a seat for a driver. It was surprisingly spacious, but that space was taken up by lots of tank shells, or what appeared to be tank shells on the surface. To the back middle there was the turret and further back was Shark and FortheLolz taking a look at a screen. The unnatural blue light was in stark contrast to the dim incandescent lights that were used. They were discussing something but I wasn’t too sure.
I approached the two and got a look at what they were looking at, a laptop was on this World War I style tank. What it showed were the schematics of the tank, a basic diagram that was one of many diagrams in a large slide deck.
I listened in on their conversation, it was about the tank obviously. The diagram was one of the armor, and it had details on the thickness, material, and ablative properties of the armor.
”So what are you looking at?” I asked.
This seemed to startle them a bit as they turned, “Oh, Ceo. We are looking at the Behemoths capabilities. Which right now we are looking at its armor.” Shark explained.
”Cool.” I responded, “So what’d you find out?” I asked.
FortheLolz took over, “Well for one, its armor isn’t just stainless steel, it actually has a thin layer of stainless steel. The rest of it is armor that if damaged we won’t be able to repair, long story short it's the same armor used in modern battle tanks on Earth.” FortheLolz said.
”That sounds expensive.” I said.
”Well it is.” Shark said, “Even older models of the Abraham 20 cost about 2 million to repair. But good news or bad news depending on how you interpret what I’m about to add, is that according to some diagrams it's capable of regenerating its armor. Over the span of weeks, it's able to repair its own armor.” Shark said.
”That sounds a lot like biological armor that the Venusian Navy experimented with.” I said.
“Whatever it is, the technology used will make it hard to replicate.” FortheLolz said.
”That’s only the surface of what we found, we haven’t had a chance to get through everything this thing has. Hell there was a page that referenced a bio computer for some of its systems. It’s crazy.” Shark said.
”Aren’t bio computer usage in warfare banned under international law?” Punisher asked.
“On Earth and Luna it is, but offworld it ain’t.” Shark then gave a sigh, “Ok, enough talking about the tank. So Ceo why are you here, shouldn’t you be in the Medical Wing of Main?” He asked.
I shook my head, ”The doctor let me go.” I answered.
Shark nodded, “So is there anything you need? Or are you just looking around?” Shark asked.
I paused, and looked at the floor. “I think I forgot why we were looking for you in the first place.”
Shark gave a smirk “Of course, how about this. Later tonight we are taking the light tanks and stormtroopers out to do a probe attack on the lizards. Do you want to join us?”
”Um, sure it's not like I got anything more to do.” I said.
”Good.” Shark said.
”I have an idea, during that time can help us figure out how to use these tanks?” Forthelolz asked.
I cocked my head, “Honestly it sounds like y’all do need an engineer's help figuring out what y’all are looking at. I was the Chief Engineer on the VMS Jenny during the Asteroid belt conflict, so I should have an idea what I’m looking for as long as it's in english.” I said confidently.
“Well we do have a slide that we couldn’t figure out what the hell it's supposed to mean.” Forthelolz said he moved a dozen slides back to one entitled with a shit ton of Acronyms.
After looking at it for five minutes I was just overwhelmed, “I’m gonna be honest with y’all. I’ll need all night with the all the internet bubbles in the entire solar system to have enough information to figure what the fuck I am looking at.” I said defeated. “Can we Instead start figuring out what we are going to do after this mission tonight?”
