It was She was the one who always haunted my dreams. She was the face I saw every morning and every night when I went to bed. Almost every vision I had, she was there. It was always a blurry face but it was still The same hair with purple streaks, the same blunt attitude. I shuddered.
After roughly a minute of running I realized I wasn’t running anywhere. Then, I shrugged. Anywhere was better if it didn’t have her. After ten minutes of jogging, I finally let myself walk. It felt good to run and I felt vaguely satisfied with myself even though I didn’t change anything. In fact, everyone probably thought I was a weirdo not worth their time or brain cells.
I saw an overhang not too far ahead and walked there. I climbed up the gentle slope on the back and sat on the top of the cliff. I loved being up there. It made me feel safe even though technically I was in more danger than on the ground. I think.
My moment of peace was rudely interrupted by another vision. Normally these only came once a week, so it’s safe to say I was scared.
Find Rin, iFind her.
I gasped a sigh of relief when the vision ended. That was a lot creepier than most of my visions. I remembered the one I had earlier in the day. Every single second returned to me. I didn’t want to relive it so I shut it down. That annoying 13 year old voice sounded in my head. Sometimes it would talk to me even when I didn’t want it to. I don’t even know who it was!
It said scornfully.
“Nope!”
The voice said. It always seemed to echo in the empty cavern that was my head.
“Yeah, I think so.” I told him. I added silently.
He seemed to falter. He grumbled before going silent. He was like that. One second yelling, the other, silent.
I started to relax again. “Sawyer!” A familiar voice called.
“Yeah?” I said.
I noticed Storm just below me. I crawled to the edge of the overhang. “What happened? You know, back there?” He said.
“I had another vision. It was worse than usual, actually.” I slid down the back of the cliff and walked around to meet Storm. He seemed really hesitant about something.“All right, spit it out.” I demanded.
“What happened in that vision? You were jerking around and stuff.” When he said vision, he looked confused.
I really didn’t want to tell him, but he was my best friend. Best friends have a level of trust higher than normal friends. “Well, my vision was there were 5 people and they were beating each other up. Actually, they were more like silhouettes and the one that won held up a planet.” The most disturbing part is that my visions came true. That’s probably why they’re called visions. Like this one time, I had a vision of meeting Rin pretty much the same way that it happened.
“That’s it?” He blurted. I probably looked wounded because he quickly amended his statement. “I mean, you screamed. It’s not normal to have visions.” That really confused me. Didn’t everyone have visions? I always thought they were like dreams that happened in the middle of the day. Everyone had them. Didn’t they?

The voice said like I was a million miles behind him in intelligence. I wanted to tell him to shut his yapper but Storm was there and I didn’t want to offend him.
“Really?” I said instead. “I thought everyone had them. You know, like dreams. It’s called day dreaming for a reason!” I smirked, but inside I was kind of scared. Why was having visions?
The voice sounded.
I scoffed. “Impossible!” Aw, man. It was so embarrassing talking to the man in my head.
He told me strictly.
“Then what are you?” I asked. Storm was giving me a look that I didn’t like, but I this answer. This was the closest I’ve ever gotten to knowing what this phantom voice really was. But, apparently, my questions were too petty for the voice, and he turned silent.
“Are you sure you’re okay? We can go see the doctor back at our place if you want.” Storm asked.
“No, I’m fine.” But I could tell I wasn’t convincing. I knew Storm well enough to know that he hated the facility almost as much as I did. If he was willing to go back there for me, he must really be worried.
Then I saw her.
I groaned. I had enough of this girl. I was going to do something about it, whether she liked it or not. “Just leave me alone!” I snapped when she was within earshot. Her face fell, which had to have been hard because she was already looking pretty grim.
“Well, I’m sorry I’m sucking up all your precious air!” She retorted. I noticed two girls coming into view behind her. One blonde and one had light brown hair that was pulled back. I gulped.
They were upon me. The three of them stood in a line. Me on one side, them on the other. All of them had their arms crossed and were looking down on me. It’s not my fault I’m short!
I tossed the hair out of my eyes. “What?” I asked finally.
“Why did you run away from Rin?” The girl with brown hair asked.
“She haunts my dreams.” I say as casually as I can manage. They glower at me.
“Stop joking! We’re being serious here!” Brown Hair asked.
“No, really. Ever heard of daydreaming?” Rin rolls her eyes but the others look unsure.
“It’s true!” Storm pipes up from next to me. I want to yell. Took him long enough.
“Oh, it’s you again.” Brown Hair said. She sounded vaguely pleased.
“Yeah.” He said.
“Who are you people and why did you follow me here?” I demand. I was getting tired of this. Better to be direct.
Rin ignored me but Blonde Hair gave in. “I’m Emerald. You know Rin, right? Just in case you don’t, she’s the one with purple streaks in her hair. And Aurora is to my right.” I noticed Aurora fingering her ear and noticed she had an earring like Storm’s, except it was an ice shard. It naturally made me want to touch the necklace under my shirt. It was a purple eye on a (fake) gold chain. I had come with it, minus the chain.
I desperately wanted to ask what it was, but I felt I would be laughed at if I asked, probably by Rin. “Do you have any other weird secrets we should know about?” Rin snapped.
“Uhh,” I stalled. “Well, I like my toast burnt, I don’t like the color red, my favorite animal is a beaver, I have this voice that talks to me sometimes, and I think cupcakes are better than cake. Shall I go on?”
The others stared at each other in dismay, even Storm. Oh, man. Am I even weirder than I think? “Why do you like your toast burnt?” Emerald said, eyes shining. “That’s like, grain cruelty.”
I was stunned. “ what you're focusing on?” Storm said in disbelief. “I thought we were going to talk about the fact that you haven’t bonded to a dragon,” he paused and I could tell he wanted to finish the thought with, “but you’re hearing a voice in your head that I only started hearing once I bonded to Willows. I mean, it’s probably not the same voice, but you know what I mean.”
“He doesn’t have the earring, dummies!” Rin snapped. I wasn’t even insulted. Once again, I reached for my necklace. It came with a clasp. Could that mean it was meant to be and earring?
Storm saw the motion and I assumed his mind was thinking along the same lines mine was. I really hoped he didn’t announce it to the girls, because that would be really embarrassing. Me? With a necklace? “You know…” He trailed off, looking at me. I shook my head. No. No way.
Rin saw the motion and narrowed her eyes. The voice in my head cut in. I staggered back. After all these years of wondering what this voice in my head really was, it was a dragon? I never would have suspected.
But… “Why did you wait so long to tell me?” Ugh. I’m doing it again, talking to the dragon inside my head in front of other people. I could feel their stares.
He retorted.
“Where are you? Why… why did you abandon me?” I asked.
“What are you talking about?!” Rin yelled at me. “I’m so tired of you and your cryptic messages and your vague answers! Just tell me what you mean!”
“I’m talking to the dragon in my head. Now shut your mouth!” I huffed. “Not you.” I added to the dragon.
I felt a strange urge to go on the same spiel that Rin did, but they would think I’m bananas. Maybe they’re right. He sounded so genuinely sad that I almost believed him.
“So I have a dragon.” I whispered. I didn’t realize that my legs had crumpled until I hit the ground. That’s why I didn’t bond to any dragon. I already had! I just didn’t know it then. The dragon added helpfully.
“I have a twin?” I said. I could tell the people around me were getting confused and impatient. “So you know that dragon in my head, it told me that I have a twin.”
“Right. And I’m a triplet.” Rin said.
“No, really!”
“Um, guys?” Aurora said nervously.
“What?” Me and Rin said at the same time. We stared at each other in disgust and moved a few steps away.
“What’s that?” She said and pointed up towards the sky.
I peered around, Nothing but red rock and purple sky. And a shadow falling above us. Wait, what?
