Chapter 01 — Interview (Part 3)

The door closed behind them with a sharp click.

The bar became nothing more than a muffled noise through the walls.

The room was small. Dimly lit. A simple table at the center and two chairs facing each other — it looked more like an improvised interrogation room than a place for conversation.

Yudoson pulled out a chair and sat first.

Too relaxed for someone who wasn’t comfortable.

Sugus sat across from him, slowly crossing her legs, watching every detail of him as if analyzing subtle changes.

A few seconds of silence passed.

  Then she asked casually,

“Do you still believe in God?”

  Yudoson raised an eyebrow.

“I’m the one who asks the questions…”

He rested his arm on the table, staring directly at her.

“…but I’ll let that one slide, smartass.”

A faint crooked smile appeared — more exhaustion than humor.

“And besides… why ask something that stupid?”

Dark smoke briefly surfaced along the side of his face, dissolving into the air.

He answered immediately afterward, his voice low.

  “Of course I do.”

  A short pause followed.

  His gaze grew heavier.

“And He does not call Himself ‘God’”.

  Silence settled between them.

  Sugus didn’t respond right away.

She simply tilted her head, clearly intrigued.

As if that answer confirmed something she had already suspected.
