Volume 5: The Great Plains Chapter 142: Pacification
The three princes led the guards, all of whom were clad in fine black iron armor. From a distance, the bare-chested barbarian stood out at the front of the group. The black tide, with him as its spearhead, inserted itself into the midst of the battling armies, like a sharp knife splitting apart the stuck-together troops of both sides. Although many of the followers were still unvanquished, they only dared to glare at the guards, clutching their weapons, and the situation was quickly brought under control. Only two princes remained on the battlefield, continuing to struggle against each other. Due to their royal status, the guards did not dare approach them to stop the fight, but merely surrounded them.
The dwarf parted the crowd and came between the two princes, shouting: "You two brothers, stop! Where is the reason for brothers to kill each other? Our dwarves have never had such a thing happen in thousands of years, what's going on?"
The two princes glared at each other with eyes as big as bronze bells, and shouted at their younger brother in unison: "Mind your own business! I must kill him today!" As soon as the words fell, they immediately raised their weapons and resumed fighting.
The green-bearded dwarf wielded a double-bladed battle-axe, swinging it with a fierce gust of wind, chopping down mercilessly as if the one in front of him was not his brother but a demon. The gray-bearded dwarf held a black iron warhammer, exerting great effort to block the axe's attack, and then swung the hammer sideways, looking like he would not rest until he smashed his opponent into pulp.
The barbarian saw the situation and took a step forward, using his war hammer to block the gray-bearded dwarf's hammer. He then kicked the green-bearded dwarf to the ground with one foot, and turned around to hook the gray-bearded dwarf with his right foot, causing him to lose balance and fall to the ground as well. Then he shouted loudly: "All of you come up here, tie them up, and follow me to see my father!"
The guards immediately obeyed and stepped forward, pinning down the two princes. The green-bearded dwarf was quickly tied up by seven or eight guards, while the gray-bearded dwarf refused to surrender, flipping over the guards holding him down and jumping up from the ground, charging at the barbarian with his hammer, shouting: "I'll have you know, watch me smash you to pieces!"
The barbarian put down the hammer in his hand, grabbed the gray-bearded dwarf's right hand with one hand, and reached out with the other hand to grab his collar. He then turned around and flung him away. The onlookers' eyes widened as the gray-bearded dwarf was already thrown several meters away by the barbarian, lying on his back with his legs in the air, still dazed. The barbarian shouted at the guards, "Aren't you going to tie him up for me? You can't even subdue one person, how can you be a guard?"
Several previously overturned guards blushed and immediately came forward to re-tie the gray-bearded dwarf tightly. The followers who followed the two princes in a fight saw their masters being subdued, and they also immediately lost their will to fight, throwing down their weapons and surrendering.
At this time, a team of guards surrounded a dwarf who came hastily from afar. The dwarf was wearing magnificent clothes and a crown on his head, and it was clear that the king of the dwarves had arrived.
The barbarian saw his father walking over and hastily went forward to kneel on the ground, saying: "Father, you have come in person?"
The king looked at the barbarian hammer on the ground and asked: "Barbarian hammer, get up, what happened here?"
The two of you don't know what's going on, leading your respective men to fight in front of the palace. I've already led the guards to quell the disturbance. The two of you didn't listen to my advice, so I had no choice but to capture them and bring them before Father for judgment.
The king nodded and said: "You've done a great job, bring those two before me."
With a wave of his hand, the guards immediately brought two dejected princes before the king.
The king first said to the dwarf with green whiskers: "Giant Rock, what's going on?"
The green-bearded giant said, "Father, originally I was having a good time drinking with my older brother, and the two of us were chatting enthusiastically. Suddenly, my older brother mentioned this time sending out brave warriors to cooperate with humans on the grasslands. He said he was the strongest warrior in the dwarf tribe, but Father favored me and sent me instead, not even giving him an opportunity. Moreover, he heard that whoever participates in this action will likely inherit the throne if they return successfully. Now, however, there is no chance for him."
The giant glanced at his father, saw that the king had no expression, and continued: "So I said in a huff, I am the strongest warrior of the dwarf tribe, it should be me who is sent, how can it be my brother? So we two started arguing, later...later we ended up fighting, and the result was that we were brought here. After that, after that, we were subdued by our third brother."
The king snorted and said, "Who told you that whoever is sent will be the future heir to the throne? The succession of my dwarf kingdom is decided by a vote of the elder council. The new king must be a brave warrior, but also someone with a broad chest like a mountain, full of wisdom, kindness, justice, and selflessness. Look at you two, for something that hasn't even happened yet, you're already fighting each other to the death. Are you worthy of succeeding me? You boast about being the greatest warrior of the dwarf tribe, how shameful! Your younger brother has defeated both of you single-handedly, what can you do better than him? Look around at these warriors and ask them who they will support in the future after seeing your current state?"
All the warriors raised their weapons high and shouted loudly: "Barbarian! Barbarian! Barbarian!......" The huge roar echoed in the empty great hall, shocking everyone. The two princes lowered their heads with pale faces.
The king waved his hand in anger and said, "Take them all down, beat them with a wooden stick twenty times, lock them up, and don't let them out for a month. Let them reflect on their behavior."
The barbarian knelt down on the ground, facing the king and said: "Father, please forgive my two brothers. They were also drunk and didn't understand what they were doing when they started fighting. My two brothers are usually very good to everyone and are also heroes of our dwarf tribe. Please don't punish them."
The king looked at the brutal beating and shook his head, saying: "They are my sons, I should be stricter with them. If I don't discipline them now, will I have to wait until a tragedy occurs between brothers? Don't say anything else, execute!"
After the barbarian king retreated in a dejected manner, Mr. Tong Chui immediately stepped forward and reported: "Your Majesty, do you still want to see the guests who have come from afar?"
The king followed the copper hammer's finger and looked at us, we immediately saluted the king, the king nodded and said to us: "Let the guests see a joke, please follow me to the main hall to talk... Copper Hammer, you come too!"
