People of Terra
Shadow – Elijah’s trusty steed. A midnight black stallion that was born in the Drendal Tundra. Members of the Shades only ride horses from this specific herd who have lived within the Tundra’s strange environment for centuries. The taming of one’s horse is one of the final tests that an apprentice Shade must past along the pathway to knighthood.
Martin Fey – Another apprentice of the Shades who trained around the same time as Elijah. Sadly, he was later killed in the line of duty by the Nether Mage – also known as a Necromancer or a Devourer – Xül.
Appendix H:
Flora and Fauna of Terra
We’tí’ka – The Elvish slang term for People Eater. This creature is created through the practice of cannibalism. There is not much known about these creatures as they are extremely rare and dangerous. Areas known to be prowled by a We’tí’ka are abandoned by those who live near and avoided by all cost. It may be of interest to note that Knowing Ones have determined that cannibalism on its own is not enough to create a We’tí’ka. It is suspected that only cannibalism not practiced through necessity nor through religious ritual can lead to the creation of a We’tí’ka. Some also think that evil must exist within the heart of the person before they consume the flesh of other humanoids for them to transform into the creature. Lastly, there are no known cases of the immortal races – such as Dryads – becoming We’tí’ka.
Appendix J:
Fighting Styles
The Way of the Gale – The Shade fighting style created by Dín Zal?. The sword is held in a reverse-grip and the fighter performs quick and shallow half-turns that either slash or stab the opponent, depending on the direction of the turn. The name comes from the wind like movements of the fighter.
The Way of the Shade – The basic Shade fighting style taught to all new apprentices of the Order of the Shades. Apprentices practice this form until it becomes ingrained within them, allowing them to perform the moves without thought. An apprentice can only begin crafting their own style of fighting after they have demonstrated complete mastery over The Way of the Shade.
The Way of the Thunder – The Shade fighting style created by Duncan Caine. This fighting style utilizes a massive great sword that is held with two hands. The fighter delivers powerful full-bodied strikes. It is said that Grand Master Caine could cleave boulders utilizing this fighting style. The name comes from the sound that the strikes make upon impact.
The Way of the Water – The Shade fighting style created by Elijah Khan. The sword is usually held in one hand and the fighter swings it in fluid movements in the shape of a figure eight. The sword strokes are accompanied by meticulous footwork, making it a very hard form to defend against. The name comes from the water-like motions of the fighter.
