I turned to look at the message from my dad and nodded my head.
“Okay, here comes the moment of truth, can dad save my ass from upper management duties?”
Kenna, great to hear from you! Was starting to worry you had forgotten all about dear old me. Haha, okay, I’ll get to business, Timothy has been coordinating with me for the last hour and I have sent off messages to those I think are best suited for the jobs you need filling. They will meet Timothy and the pickup sites around England, ensuring secrecy, or at least they all should make it aboard. Knock on a tree, right? Haha.
I couldn't stop myself from grinning, dad always said tree because he figured it was more lucky than a random piece of wood. However, if he was feeling like he needed some real luck, he would say a bunch of trees instead. Then there was the one time I heard about when my dad had been in some serious trouble and claimed he needed to go find a forest to knock on. I chuckled at the memory and turned back to his letter.
Timothy, should be on his way back from picking up the first batch by now, it has a bunch of former soldiers that I think would really help out with your game thingy. Plus, they have been itching to get back into battle. There is also one person on this flight, that I think would make a good guild or at least orbital station manager for the guild. By the way, I can't wait for my turn to get up there. Love Dad.
I let out a soft laugh before closing the letter and looking up at the holographic map over the command table. I easily spotted Timothy half way back to the Orbital station with the first batch of people. I could not help getting a little excited at being able to hand the management of this place over to someone qualified to actually run it.
*******
It was almost a day later when I received the next message from my dad. Timothy had collected everyone from the planet that was on the list and somehow had gotten roped into going back and collecting more people and was currently docking with the orbital station. Five people had been sent up to help me manage the guild and had been assigned to officer positions of the guild the moment they had reached the command office.
They had gotten to work instantly, it was a real eye-opener when I realised just how much work I had been neglecting. But many of the stations around the habitat were turned on now and fresh water was running, life support had been turned on properly and was generating new air that was pumped into the habitat.

I had no idea how any of that was working, but Uncle Thomas insisted that it wasn't my concern, and he could handle it and would tell me if a problem came up that needed a Guild Mistresses input.
Ashley had been ecstatic when the soldiers started arriving, immediately pulling nine of them into her company after pushing them into the rigs. Those nine turned out to be gamers and had no military training. However, the other forty who were all former earth military had organised themselves into squads and appointed leaders based on former military ranks. I had asked them if they needed funding to start their company's and had been pleasantly surprised when all four of them declined, saying they were going to use their own money. Apparently the system recognised if the company was guild funded or guild supported. The difference was the guild supported company's got to keep a bigger share of the money earned by the company.
I had found a manual on the market that explained a bit about how the company's operated, and had learned it was a lot like what you would expect a start-up business to be. The things company money was used on was interesting, though. The Company's leader could decide what it's spent on or appoint a treasurer. They could then spend it on upgrading the company's Armour, weapons, even accommodation. That one had blown my mind a bit and caused me to look into it. After a lot of searching and a few purchases, I had learnt that a company can purchase a company Hall that they can upgrade and customise to their heart’s content. The company hall was also recognised as a separate place from where ever the company was stationed. This meant that if they transferred from one carrier to another, they would still be able to access that company hall. The last two things the company could spend money on was paying a percentage of company income to its members. Leaving the last thing that every company leader would want. Upgrade the company Level, allowing more members to join. However, the upgrade took more than just credits, it also needed a certain level of renown and mission completions.
I went to open the message from my dad but froze when I noticed something on the map surface out of subspace for a few seconds before sinking back into it.
“What the hell?” I mumbled as I slowly got up and walked over to the table.
I fiddled around with it for a while until I found what I was looking for. The ship that had surfaced turned out to be a relay ship, it was meant to surface in Galactic federation controlled Solar Systems briefly dropping off and picking up secure encrypted data packets from Orbital Stations. I let out a sigh, deciding Uncle Thomas would know what that was about, and I could ask after I read dads letter. I accessed it on my hud and mentally clicked open.
Kenna, don't trust any rockets or ships from earth. Police, federal police and even the royal guard have come and taken most of the clan into custody. I'm not sure, but I think some of our clan was even snatched by Americans and Russians. I don't know where they were taken, but a couple dozen people managed to put up enough of a fight to escape. It has to be the London clan, Washington clan makes sense for the Americans, but I don't know who the Russians could be. They were strong enough to fight on our level. However, most of us are not used to the strength of a Solar Tak yet, and that most likely contributed to them being able to overpower us. Few of us were lost, just to secure an exit for those that did escape. Don't expose yourself to danger, stay safe. We will find a way out of this on our own. You need to stay on the Orbital Station, with roughly two hundred clan members Timothy took up there. Because I was one of the people captured. Therefore, I hereby resign leadership of the clan to my daughter Kenna Mackenzie. May she lead us all into the future! I love you.
The letter closed on its own after I finished reading it, and a new window popped open.
Congratulations, you are now the Clan Leader of the Mackenzie clan. All Hail Clan Mistress Kenna, may she rule well.
