Virot slumped against her grandmother’s arm, which woke her up, the girl sug her dummy angrily, before she slowly drifted off once more. Her uncle picked her up, causio fall deep into the warmth depths of slumber, and as he reached for Damrot, the Iyrman paused.
Adam caught Jurot’s look. “What? You hold my daughter but I ’t even hold my own son?”
“He is my son,” Jurot whispered iurn.
Adam winced in offence, pnting a feather light kiss upon the boy’s forehead. “Try and take him from me.”
“Okay.”
“No, wait, never mind, I’ll five you.” Adam hoisted himself up to carry the boy away, while Sonarot and Mulrot followed. The pair pced the children down onto the thikets, while Sonarot and Mulrot prepared for sleep. Adam pnted gentle kisses on their foreheads. “Mother Soza, please watch over my adorable twins. Baktu… you know. Maybe just… you know.”
Jurot exged a look with the half elf, who smiled ily.
“Daddy!” Jirot charged her father as he returned back to the courtyard grabbing his hand, the half elf allowing his daughter t him away.
Adam dropped down where his daughter wanted, before she climbed atop his p, clutg his cht. The smell of fresh bread filled the air, as dinner was cooked for the workers, their clothing stained with the sweat of effort. Adam smiled towards the awkward gnces.
Jirot stuck her thumb into her mouth, before rubbing her cheek against her father’s. “Daddy, I am going to be strong as you.”
“Yes,” little Jarot agreed, cuddling against his father’s bicep, which was rger than most of the Iyrmen, whose bodies were more effit.
“Of course, of course.” Adam ed his arms around his tiny green bundles, each who provided the half elf with endless joy. He rocked with them from side to side, his eyes glued to their amber eyes, which beamed with a happiness only they could know.
Jurot remained focused upon his brother, while he engulfed the twins in his affe. No one iirety of the Iyr, not even his own grandfather, had treated their children with such affead Dog’s adoration for his you son was well known through the Iyr, a Adam’s adoration shone brighter.
‘I should have taken him into my family when I had the ce,’ Rajin thought, but the thoughts were simir to the other older Iyrmen nearby, even those distant to Adam.
“You two, you have to be good for the Iyr, okay?” Adam urged.
“Okay!”
“You must listen to the Iyr, and you o listen to mummy too.”
“Mummy is the stro,” Jirot firmed, nodding her head.
Adam smiled wide. “That’s right. Daddy has never beaten mummy before. She’s too beautiful, I ’t defeat her.”
“So beautiful!” Little Jarot smiled wider.
“Daddy! I always beat you up too!” Jirot cackled, causing her father to ugh too, before Adam brought them closer to his chest.
Jasmiared at the half elf from the side, her eyes glued to his form. She turo face Siten, who was covered head to toe, even his eyes. She thought about what she had seen, something beyond possibility. A man youhan herself had mao sy a Grand ander of an Order, and not just any Order, but the man who was ohe Grand ander of the Thousand Hunts. ‘Prince Morkarai… is this why?’
Rick could feel the gazes upon his skin, but he ighem, tipping his helmet as he walked around the fort, eventually taking his pce to one side. He exged a look with Fred, who raised his brows in a particur manner, and Rick slowly nodded his head.
‘Damn, eh?’
‘Damn, eh.’
The whole versation they spoke with their look said more than just the four words, but they were enough. Rick recalled his time iher realm, where they had almost died to a dragon, only for the half elf and his panions to beat her. It was about the time whe one of the Lesser Divine, Lady Uveil, Lady Eveil, the Goddess of Bance’s daughter.
Rick let out a sigh, allowing the surprise to flow through it, his shoulders rexing. ‘o think about it.’
There were others who had seen Adam’s ridiculous feat, many who hadn’t met one of the Divine. Chief Merl stared up at the ceiling within her room, her entire body almost frozen. She blinked, shuddering at the sight, recalling what the previous Chief had told her.
‘Beware a crimson river,’ the previous Chief had warned.
‘It looked pretty damn crimson to me.’
As the day passed, the Iyrmen stripped the equipment off the dead bodies. Shasen carried the woman to the side, away from every other body. He pced her down, praying lightly over her body, to both Lord Sozain and Lord Zadhin.
“May you fight in Damnation for eternity,” Shasen finished, sipping the sour wine Rajin had gifted him. He winced as he tio sip the wine over the corpse, his heart weighed down by the grief, only tempered by his duty to the Iyr.
“I should have remembered we were going to be tasked with this,” Laygak said, holding up the dead body of one of the figures, while Faool unstrapped the armour.
“It is our honour to fight and up,” Faool stated, before peeking up at Laygak’s face, the horned Iyrmaing out a sigh. “We are also able to cim some items.”
“That’s why I haven’t pined more!”
As the Iyrmen ed up the nd, the businessfolk finally retired for the evening, having pleted their extended shift, having found it too awkward to remain within the fort.
“What! How you do this to me, kako?” Jirot asked, g her fists as she gred up towards the Demon Lord.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t realise I would roll so well!” Lucy replied, smiling nervously.
“How you do this to me?”
“Sorry! I didn’t mean to, Jirot.”
“I five you, just this once, because you are so pretty,” Jirot huffed, holding up her fihreateningly.
“You are so magnanimous!”
“Yes! I am so mangamus. You uand?”
“I uand,” Lucy replied seriously, doing her best not to burst out into ughter.
“How I be so mangamus? It is because I am so delightful? Seous?” Jirot clutched her die tight in hand, her arms crossed behind her back as she stared at the sky. “I am so amazing. It is so troublesome.”
‘You’re too good at distrag yourself,’ Lucy thought.
Little Jarot blinked up towards Mara, who smiled ily. “Sorry.”
“Why are you sorry?”
“I won…”
“There is o apologise when you are victorious,” Mara assured, reag over to brush the boy’s hair. “Since you are victorious, you should treat me well.”
“Okay.” The boy smiled shyly up towards Mara.
“I will bring some treats,” Mara said, brushing the boy’s cheek, before allowing Lucy to spoil him too. Once she returned, with the gaze of several Iyrmen upon her, she dropped down beside the twins. “You have to wash your hands.”
“Where is kako Lana?” Jirot asked.
“I have brought this bread for us,” Mara said, pg a finger over her lip. “Let’s wash our hands a.”
“You sound like daddy. Always washing my hands. I wash my hands before I py! I wash my hands after I py! I wash my hands before I read! I wash my hands after I read! I wash my hands before eating! I wash my hands after eating!”
“Do you want to have dirty hands?” Mara asked.
“No!” Jirot held up a threatening finger. “My hands are !”
“Hands are easily dirtied, so we must wash them. That is what your father said, and your mother.”
“Since mummy say it…” Jirot pouted, but she allowed Mara to help her wash her hands.
Mara washed her own hands and assisted little Jarot, ing his bottle too, before finally tearing a small thumbful of bread. “You have to treat me since you were so victorious. I would like to feed you and to be fed by you. Will you do it? Just a little?”
Jarot pouted slightly, but he opened his mouth, allowing the woman to feed him, pulling away after the first thumbful of bread. Mara handed him the bread, opening her mouth, and the boy fed her iurn. Jirot also fed Lucy, but was quickly distracted by little Jarot making to cry, pulling away from Mara.
“Okay, no more,” Mara said, biting the bread out of the boy’s hand, but little Jarot tio cry.
“What you did to my papa?” Jirot asked, her eyes narrowing sharply towards the woman, grabbing her brother into a tight embrace, shielding him from the world.
“Oh dear, oh dear,” Adam called, approag the group in their little er, while his son’s wailing called to him. “What happened?”
“I fed him bread, but he did not wish for more,” Mara replied.
“How much did he eat?” Adam asked as Mara drew across her palm, revealing the amount of bread Jarot ate. “So much bread! No wonder you’re g! You did such a great job and no one praised you?”
Persuasion Check (Charisma)(Advantage)D20 + 8 = 25 (17)D20 + 8 = 25 (17)25!
Little Jarot tio sob, but calmed down almost instantly as his father peppered him all over with kisses.
“Wow! My son ate so much today! Why did no one praise you? How could they do this? My little Jarot, who ate so much! Daddy is so happy today!” Adam pnted a firm kiss on the boy’s salty cheek, wiping the green skioddler’s face with a handkerchief. “Amazing!”
“Yes! My papa is so amazing! You eat so well, Jarot!” Jirot said, a piece of bread to the boy.
Adam almost stopped it, but kept himself at bay, while his daughter did what she promised. The boy leaned down to nibble slightly, though quickly pulled away to hide within his father’s chest.
“Good work!” Jirot held up a thumbs up, biting into the rest of the bread, though she kept her thumbs up for her brother.
‘Might as well prepare them for bed,’ Adam thought.
“Did you see how well my greatson ate?” Jarot asked, grinning wide, sm his greatson in a tight hug.
“He ate so much bread,” Rajin firmed, also praising the boy, ruffling his hair. “You fed him so well, my Jijin.”
“Are you pig a fight?” the Mad Dog asked, but he fave the Bearded Dragon siheir little Demon Lord cackled at the joke.
“What’s this?” Adam asked, Konarot hugging a sheathed bde. “Why do you have…”
“Fresh Snow Zephyr,” Konarot replied.
“Right, right, why do you have it?”
“Papo give it.”
“Let’s give it back since we’re about to sleep,” Adam said.
Konarot pouted, her ears and tail drooping. “Okay.”
Adam smiled. “Don’t worry! Daddy will get you a nicer… axe? You’re a Rot, you silly girl!”
“Yes!” Konarot affirmed, her leaf shaped ears quickly perking up once more.
Tanagek sat opposite Jurot, who tio speak the tales to him, and though the Iyrman spoke the tales more ih, there was still so much he was leaving out, that much Tanagek was certain. Chosen opened aowards the half elf and his silver haired children.
“Go on, Konarot,” Adam said, waving his hand towards Chosen, who nodded his head iurn.
“You would refuse my gift?” Tanagek replied, with a dark tohat made Adam raise his brow.
‘What’s his…’ “A gift?”
“Fresh Snow Zephyr. I have gifted it to Konarot, since she likes it. I have no iion of accepting a gift I have already parted with.” Tanagek crossed his arms, leaning back within his chair.
“…”
“…”
“So you’re a pretty cute guy too?”
Tanagek furrowed his brows. “I prefer the pany of women.”
“Me too.”
Tanagek’s eyes darted to Jurot, raising his brow curiously. “…”
“Konarot, did you say thank you for the gift?” Adam asked.
“Thank you, papo.”
Tanagek smiled slightly. “You did say thank you, but you are always wele, my niece.”
Konarot smiled brighter, her tail swaying from side to side.
“Of course my daughter already said thank you, since she’s so well behaved,” Adam replied, ruffling the girl’s hair. “How lovely is your papo? Hmm?”
“So lovely!” Konarot replied.
“Thank you, Tanagek.” Adam held out a hand, shaking the Iyrman’s forearm. “You are all so lucky to have such a wonderful papo. e o’s go sleep, and we …” Adam lowered his voice to a whisper, “think of a way to show ratitude, okay?”
“Okay!” the triplets replied loudly with a whisper, following their father away.
‘Father was right,’ Tahought, waving towards Kirot, who had looked bad waved at him with a smile that made Tanagek want to kill a dragon.
Jirot and Jarot cuddled up to their babo, each holding hands, sug ohumbs. Gangak y nearby, while several Iyrmen took watch around the buildings, keeping a during the night. The childreoo tired to talk to their babos, but they were not tired enough to remember the sight earlier in the day. They fell asleep to a particur thought.
Adam eventually dropped down into the furs, while his triplets climbed atop of him. Konarot climbed atop his chest, while Kirot and Karot each cimed an arm. The half elf stared at the ceiling as his children cuddled him and slowly fell asleep. Konarot’s tail swayed lightly withihoughts before it fell still.
‘Huh?’ Adam thought, blinking. ‘I’m alive?’
