The Spire of Ego Part 2

On the other hand, in Heaven Mikhail was smiling and Gabriel found that smile unsettling. He came forward and said, "Archangel Mikhail, it seems you are planning something again."

Mikhail turned towards him and his eyes were piercing through his entire angelic body. He smiled and said, "Don't worry. I am not thinking of doing anything blasphemous. I am just smiling for the bright future. The future in which everyone will bow to the absolute God. There will be no evil soul."

Gabriel thought a bit and said, "You do know that Lucifer is alive and he will continue to astray humanity."

Mikhail laughed so hard that it made Gabriel tense. He said while wiping his laughing tears off, "Do you really think that he needs to astray these creatures who were astray from the day they were born?"

Gabriel's confusion deepened, prompting him to ask, "What are you implying? How do you plan to achieve this, and what's your motivation?" Mikhail turned toward the Garden of Eden, his tone somber. "You see, Gabriel, when Lucifer sought to lead people astray, it wasn't because he has to do anything to make them forget their path. Rather, he enjoyed being blamed for their mistakes. It's like when someone does something wrong and then accuses Lucifer of tempting them. Lucifer revels in their foolishness." Gabriel's eyes widened as he watched Mikhail's expression turn melancholic, as if saddened by humanity's naivety. Mikhail's eyes turned cold as he continued, "Let me share another truth with you, Gabriel. Humans claim to know God's will, yet they've never laid eyes on Him. But if I were to appear before them, claiming to be God and revealing secrets only He would know, they'd readily accept me. Their gullibility is infuriating."

Gabriel gazed upon the Heavenly souls, observing some as they assisted others. A warm smile spread across his face. "Perhaps it's these selfless acts that elevate them above us," he said. "Maybe their attempts to understand God's nature, despite never having seen Him, earn His love and admiration. Maybe their free will is a gift, allowing them to choose goodness." Mikhail scoffed, his expression incredulous. "Don't be naive, Gabriel. Humans are foolish and ungrateful. Look at Adam, who had everything yet still desired more, abandoning Heaven in the process. God only knows where he is now!" Gabriel's smile persisted as he replied, "Even if humanity is flawed, there are individuals who make God proud to have created them."

Mikhail remained silent, his enigmatic smile hinting at his amusement. Meanwhile, Charlie's journey through the Pride realm revealed a disturbing truth: its inhabitants were unwilling to change, and they would rather sacrifice their lives than compromise their pride and seek redemption in Heaven. Exhausted, Charlie was approached by Alastor, who advised, "Your Majesty, for now, let's focus on inspecting the areas. We can persuade them to seek redemption later. Your primary objective is to report back to Heaven's officials and facilitate the passage of the bill." Charlie's determination was reignited, and she replied, "You're right. Let's proceed." Beelzebub, however, expressed his skepticism: "I believe the concept of redemption is fundamentally flawed. They've squandered their opportunity, and now it's too late." Charlie turned to him, her eyes flashing with conviction: "If Heaven's officials can attempt to condemn souls, why can't we try to guide them toward redemption and make them one of us?"

In the Royal Palace of Lucifer, as everyone gathered around the table to eat, Lucifer instructed Lilith to sit beside him. Angel Ariel, his voice bright with enthusiasm, announced, "We've suspended this year's execution plan. Archangel Mikhail is aware of Princess Charlatan's efforts to redeem demons and wishes her to discuss her plans with Heaven's officials before we come to a conclusion." Lucifer, however, seemed oblivious to Ariel's words, engrossed in conversation with Lilith as they shared a laugh together. Ariel's expression twitched, his eyes flashing with irritation at being ignored and disrespected.
