CHAPTER 1.5 – Guo Dalu and Wang Dong

The man kept his eyes fixed on the sword in Guo Dalu's hand, then said, "This sword of yours seems pretty good."

Guo Dalu replied, "Of course it's good."

The man continued, "I'd say it's worth at least several taels of silver."

Guo Dalu reacted sharply, "Several taels? Do you know anything about valuable items or not?" After a long pause, he sighed, "Are you asking me to pawn my own sword to buy wine and meat to bring back for you?"

The man ughed, "Finally, you understand."

Guo Dalu asked, "Do you know why I came here?"

The man answered, "Of course, you came here to rob money."

Guo Dalu gred and said, "Since you know I’m a robber, why are you still trying to scheme off me?"

The man smiled and replied, "You may be a robber, but I'm a poor ghost. When a robber meets a poor ghost, they can only bme their bad luck."

Guo Dalu looked at him and suddenly noticed that the man's smile was quite charming, even somewhat endearing.

He couldn't help but ugh too and said, "Even if you want to scheme off me, you should at least take my sword to the pawnshop yourself and buy some wine to share with me."

The man said, "If you're going to be a good person, go all the way. You should make the trip."

Guo Dalu asked, "What about you? Can't you even be bothered to move?"

The man sighed and said, "Think about it. If I weren't so zy, how could I have ended up this poor?"

Guo Dalu was stunned for the third time. He had never met someone like this before, and he really didn't know how to deal with him.

In the end, he actually went and traded the sword for wine and food.

After finishing a duck leg and half a pound of wine, the man finally sat up on the bed and smiled, "I've eaten your food and drunk your wine, but I still don't know your name."

Guo Dalu said, "I'm Guo Dalu. ‘Da′ as in generous, ‘Lu’ as in the open road."

The man said, "Dalu—your name really suits you. You're truly open and straightforward."

Guo Dalu asked, "And you? What's your name?"

The man replied, "I'm Wang Dong. ‘Wang’ as in king, ‘Dong’ as in ‘quick as a rabbit.’"

(T/N: 王; Wáng is a king, 动; Dòng, lit. means active, movable or exercise.)

Guo Dalu looked at him for a long time, then suddenly burst out ughing, "I think you should be called Wang Bu Dong (Wang the Motionless)."

Only the dead are completely motionless.

Although Wang Dong wasn't dead, he didn't move much more than a corpse.

Unless absolutely necessary, he refused to move.

When he didn′t want to move, no one could make him.

If an oil bottle were to fall in front of him, anyone would instinctively reach out to pick it up, but Wang Dong did nothing. If a rge ingot of gold were to suddenly fall from the sky, anyone would surely pick it up, but Wang Dong did nothing. Even if the most beautiful woman in the world were to sit naked in his p, he still wouldn′t move.

But he did have moments when he moved, and when he did, it was astonishing. Once, in the span of a single moment, he flipped three hundred eighty-two times, all just to make a little child, whose mother had just died, ugh.

Another time, over the course of two days and two nights, he traveled fourteen hundred fifty miles, all to see a friend for the st time.

That friend had already passed away.

Once, for three days and three nights, he fttened four mountain strongholds, fought two hundred seventy-four people, and killed one hundred thirteen of them, simply because a band of robbers had murdered Mr. Zhao and his wife from Zhao family vilge and taken their three daughters.

He didn't even know Mr. Zhao or the three girls.

If someone bullied him, even spitting in his face, he would do nothing. You might say he was strange, and he was, indeed, a bit strange.

You might say he was zy, and indeed, he was zily to an extreme degree, unreasonably zy.

Now, he had somehow become friends with Guo Dalu. The two of them together—if they weren't poor, who would be?

Though they were poor, they were poor and happy.

Because they have neither wronged others nor themselves.

Because they neither bme fate nor worry about others. No matter how great the difficulties or setbacks they encounter, they never lose courage. They are not afraid of the hardships that come with overcoming challenges but instead know how to enjoy the joy of success after conquering them.

Even if they fail, they never lose heart or become discouraged.

They understand the value of life and know how to enjoy it.

Therefore, their lives are always vibrant and colorful. Throughout their lives, they have done many surprising and astonishing things. You might think their actions are foolish or ridiculous.

But you cannot deny that what they have done, others cannot achieve.

You couldn't do it either. So, I believe you will enjoy hearing their stories.
