Chapter 80: The Burden of Sovereignty & a King’s Hideaway

Glacialix’s mind was still spinning from earlier, but as soon as her master, Arfrotian, called for her, she snapped back to reality—albeit still flustered beyond words.

Her heart pounded uncontrollably as the memory of his caress played over and over again in her mind. That sincerity, that warmth, that acknowledgment. His words had broken her.

But right now, she needed to focus.

"Huh? Master, what is it?" she asked, still trying to stabilize herself from her internal meltdown.

Arfrotian was watching the battlefield below, where Zenian’s faction of angels were openly celebrating. Their voices carried across the frigid wasteland, their expressions of joyful victory twisted in delusion.

"So, my dear Ice Queen," Arfrotian mused, tilting his head slightly, "Why are those angels celebrating, by the way? Do they think their lord Zenian has become the ruler? I guess?"

Glacialix immediately nodded, understanding where her master was going with this.

"Well, yes, Master. Since you are an outsider and have no known ties to this omniverse, it’s only natural that they wouldn’t believe that you, of all people, became its ruler. To them, it's impossible to accept."

‘Afterall they don’t even know you….”

Arfrotian let out a small chuckle, his sharp mind already calculating all the angles. He knew this reaction was inevitable. After all, who would expect an outsider to be chosen as the Sovereign of an entire omniverse?

He glanced at Glacialix and asked,

"So, do you feel pity for them, then? For their stupidity?"

Glacialix’s eyes glinted as she gave a small nod.

"Well, I do quite pity them. Once they realize the truth, the weight of their delusions will come crashing down on them..." she said, her voice tinged with amusement.

  But then, her expression shifted.

A sudden wave of rage surged through her. The very thought of those fools assuming she would ever follow Zenian’s orders was enough to make her boil with fury.

"AND THEY EVEN DARE TO THINK I WOULD FOLLOW THAT BASTARD ZENIAN’S ORDERS AFTER HE WIELDS THE ETERNAL FROSTHEART LIKE—"

Her phoenix body flared up, burning with uncontrollable anger. Her feathers radiated intense heat, melting the very air around her.

Arfrotian, seated on her back, could feel the boiling frustration rising off her in waves.

  So he acted.

He gently caressed her feathery back, his touch instantly calming the storm raging within her.

"It’s okay, my Ice Queen…" his voice was steady, smooth, reassuring, "It’s not the reality, right? You don’t have to bother with them."

The moment his hand brushed against her feathers, Glacialix's anger faltered.

Her flames dimmed, and she exhaled deeply. Though her rage still simmered beneath the surface, his words—his touch—had eased her storm.

"But still, Master…" she muttered, frustration still laced in her voice. "To think I would ever obey them…"

  Arfrotian chuckled softly.

"Well then," he mused, his gaze returning to the battlefield, "Guess we’ll just have to show them the truth soon enough… in due time."

His eyes shifted towards the battlefield.

Angels and shadow elves stood together, their weapons drawn, their alliance formed out of necessity.

  Arfrotian’s eyes narrowed.

"So… some angels helping shadow elves? And Luvania?"

  Glacialix immediately confirmed his suspicions.

"Yes, Master. Those are angels from Queen Asura’s faction. They oppose Zenian’s forces, so they’ve joined the shadow elves to fight against a common enemy."

Arfrotian observed the situation for a few seconds before speaking.

"I see. So then, Glacialix, you go over there and tell all of them both the shadow elves, and angels of Zenian’s and Asura’s faction—"

Before he could even finish his sentence, Glacialix interrupted, her voice laced with confusion.

"Huh? Master, what about you?" she asked, tilting her head. "Aren’t you going down there, too?

Means…..Wouldn’t it be better to break their delusions early and let them know that YOU are the TRUE KING of this Icy Omniverse, and not Zenian?"

Her logic was sound, but Arfrotian had already considered this.

  He simply smirked.

"Didn’t I tell you before that Zenian was receiving help from an outside omniversal ruler?"

  Glacialix nodded.

"Hmm… Yes, Master. You mentioned that, and you said we came here to resolve this issue before those forces arrived."

Arfrotian’s expression darkened slightly as he spoke.

"But if Zenian’s faction is receiving help from an outside omniversal ruler… wouldn’t it make sense that some of that ruler’s people are already infiltrated within his ranks?"

Before Arfrotian could fully explain, Glacialix’s sharp mind clicked into place.

Her eyes widened as she realized the problem.

"……If people from that outside omniversal ruler are embedded within Zenian’s faction, and if you go down and reveal everything about you being the true king and that Zenian isn’t—"

  Her voice trembled slightly.

"—Then that would sabotage your plan!"

  Arfrotian’s eyes glinted.

  "Exactly."

Glacialix continued, now completely understanding why her Master denied to go down and reveal about himself as she said,

"You left the Eternal Frostheart with Zenian, frozen. You wanted them to believe that Zenian was still the wielder, but that he had fallen victim to the Eternal Frostheart’s own power… so they’d take him back, for their main goal is with Eternal Frostheart and the weilder. If you suddenly reveal yourself as the true ruler now, then—"

  Her voice grew serious.

"—They would shift their focus from Zenian to you. Because you are the new Sovereign, rather than him, means the actual control of Eternal Frostheart is with you rather than him and that would… complicate things."

Arfrotian’s lips curved into a pleased smirk.

"Quite quick, my Ice Queen. As expected," he said, amused by how fast she had caught onto his thinking.

"And so, I won’t be going down there. Instead, I’ll tell you exactly what you need to say to all of them… while I hide, so that it doesn't risk any suspicion, afterall you are their Ice Phoenix, the most feared guardian right?"

Glacialix mused to herself, but then how her master addressed that, she had kind of forgotten that she used to be the guardian and rather she isn't actually anymore, afterall now her only purpose, as she said,

"......but master that Ice Phoenix, the guardian of this Icy Omniverse is already long dead....... what I am now, is Glacialix, the Ice Queen, whose only one purpose is to stay by your side at any costs......."

  Arfrotian mused as he said,

"Oh, is that it then......." and then Glacialix said to herself, as if muttering and in a flustering voice,

"......and I'd rather not have you let you take this burden by going down there yourself afterall, I'd rather not risk your life if is there any other way to achieve it....."

Glacialix was thinking through and going in the flow, but something suddenly hit her.

  Her eyes flickered in realization.

  "Wait, Master… hide? Where?!"

  Arfrotian’s smirk widened.

Then, he caressed her feathery back again, sending an icy shock through her system.

  Glacialix’s entire body stiffened.

Her instincts screamed at her—NO. NO WAY. HE WOULDN’T.

"MASTER… YOU ARE NOT REFERRING TO THAT PLACE FOR HIDING… RIGHT?!"

  Arfrotian simply laughed.

His voice was smooth, teasing, yet undeniably certain.

  "See, my dear Ice Queen…"

  Glacialix’s heart dropped.

"The best place for a KING to hide… is behind his QUEEN, right?"

  IT WAS OVER.

Glacialix froze, her brain completely malfunctioning.

"MASTER, IT’S NOT FAIR! YOU ALWAYS USE ME TOO MUCH!"

Arfrotian only smirked harder, enjoying his Ice Queen’s reaction.
