Chapter 91: Not Learning a Joke
Although King Kai's pnet is very small, it is indeed a pnet.
As they approached King Kai's pnet, they were suddenly pulled in by a powerful gravitational force. Cyrus, Goku, and Chi-Chi quickly fell toward the surface.
“Ahhh…”
Cyrus and Goku managed to adjust their bodies in time to maintain their bance, but Chi-Chi struggled under the intense gravity.
With two loud bangs, Cyrus and Goku crashed onto King Kai's pnet like cannonballs, while Cyrus caught Chi-Chi in his arms, preventing her from hitting the ground.
However, despite avoiding the fall, Chi-Chi was not in good shape.
"Cyrus, I feel so uncomfortable..."
Her face turned pale, and she felt dizzy. Her body felt heavy, and even breathing became difficult.
The gravity on King Kai's pnet was simir to that of Pnet Vegeta—about ten times that of Earth. Having visited many other pnets, Cyrus and Goku were unaffected, but for Chi-Chi, experiencing this level of gravity for the first time was overwhelming.
In fact, with Chi-Chi's current strength, she could easily lift objects ten times heavier than her own weight. However, simple weight-bearing is different from experiencing increased gravity. Weight-bearing primarily relies on the body's solid bones and muscles for support, whereas gravity affects every cell and every part of the body.
Ordinary people can typically withstand a maximum gravity of about 7 or 8 Gs. If they suddenly enter a high-gravity environment, they often experience symptoms such as dizziness, heavy limbs, and difficulty breathing. In extreme cases, fragile blood vessels and internal organs may rupture, leading to sudden death.
This was precisely why Cyrus had deliberately spent extra days walking along Snake Way. Chi-Chi's strength came solely from eating the divine peaches, rather than from rigorous training. While this shortcut had its advantages, it also came with drawbacks.
The advantage was that Chi-Chi had gained immense power in a short period of time without any effort or hard work. However, the downside was that, since she had skipped the training process, her body remained rgely unchanged—unrefined and unconditioned through physical exertion.
That said, strength is still strength. Once it reaches a certain level, it naturally reinforces the body. After spending the past few days mastering and adapting to her newfound power, Chi-Chi had become much stronger than before. Based on Cyrus's estimation, she should now be able to withstand the gravity of King Kai's pnet.
"Chi-Chi, are you okay?"
"How do you feel now?"
Seeing Chi-Chi in pain, Goku looked concerned, while Cyrus channeled a stream of energy into her body.
"I feel much better..."
A hint of color returned to her face, and she indeed looked much better.
Although her body still felt a little heavy, the dizziness and difficulty breathing had subsided.
After all, she was a powerful martial artist. Given some time to adjust, Chi-Chi had gradually adapted to the gravity of King Kai's pnet.
"Very good!"
Seeing that Chi-Chi was fine, Goku smiled happily. The group then began to look around.
King Kai's pnet was covered in a lush green wn, dotted with a few fruit trees and two small houses. A circur road ran through the middle, with a red car parked on the side. Aside from that, there wasn’t much else.
For the residence of the deity overseeing the entire northern gaxy, it was surprisingly simple and unassuming.
"Kaiō-sama! Kaiō-sama! Where are you? We're here to train!"
"Goku, don't shout! That's rude. We are dies."
"Ladies?"
"Hahaha... I forgot again."
Goku called out loudly for King Kai, prompting Chi-Chi to scold him.
Scratching his head, Goku looked a little embarrassed. However, his shouting had drawn attention, and soon, several figures emerged from one of the houses.
Walking in front was a short, plump figure with long, cockroach-like antennae on his head and catfish-like whiskers on either side of his mouth. It was the King of the North—King Kai.
Following closely behind him were two figures. On his left was a bck goril, jumping around and making "oh oh oh" sounds—it was King Kai’s pet, Bubbles. On his right was a mysterious, locust-like creature flying through the air, presumably King Kai’s servant, Gregory.
"Who are you, and what are you doing here?"
King Kai asked as he came to a stop in front of them.
"Lord Kai, I am Cyrus, the new Guardian of Earth, and these are Goku and Chi-Chi," Cyrus introduced.
"Lord Kai is wise and powerful, his reputation known far and wide. We have all come here because of your great name and humbly seek your guidance in training."
As the saying goes, a little fttery never hurts. Cyrus made sure to introduce himself and his companions while subtly buttering up King Kai.
However, the next moment—
"Wise and powerful? Famous?"
"You mean me???"
"Hahahaha!!!"
"That’s hirious! Absolutely hirious!"
King Kai pointed at his own round face in disbelief before suddenly dropping to the ground and pounding it with his fists in ughter.
Cyrus twitched slightly at the sight, wondering what was going on. Does this guy have such a low sense of humor?
Or is he just extremely self-aware?
Not only Cyrus, but Goku and Chi-Chi also had strange expressions on their faces.
What is this Lord Kai ughing at all by himself? He’s ughing so hard… like a fool.
Unlike Cyrus and his friends, who were feeling awkward, the goril Bubbles kept making excited "oh oh oh" sounds, while Gregory, who was floating in the air, crossed his arms with a satisfied look on his face.
"Boy, you have great insight. You actually understand how amazing Lord Kai is!"
Hearing Gregory’s praise, Cyrus averted his gaze.
This guy is just another ftterer…
After what felt like an eternity, King Kai finally finished ughing. He wiped his forehead with a handkerchief before turning to Cyrus.
"Boy, your name is Cyrus, right?"
"You have great talent! Since you’ve come all this way to seek my guidance, I shall teach you the ultimate secret of my jokes!"
King Kai decred with an air of generosity.
A brief silence followed.
"Lord Kai… we came here to learn martial arts, not how to tell jokes," Cyrus finally said.
Hearing this, King Kai’s expression visibly defted.
Why is it always like this? First King Yama, and now these guys… Why does everyone come to me for martial arts? Can’t they see that my jokes are the true, undefeated power of the universe?
However, after carefully examining Cyrus, King Kai’s expression grew serious.
"Boy, your skills are already beyond mine."
"If you’re only here for martial arts training, then I have nothing to teach you. You might as well go back."
King Kai wasn’t trying to reject Cyrus on purpose—he was simply stating the truth.
Although he was one of the four Kais overseeing the gaxy, and his title sounded prestigious, his own combat strength wasn’t particurly high. At best, he had a power level of a few thousand, perhaps reaching ten thousand at most. At this point, Cyrus had already surpassed him.
But Cyrus wasn’t about to leave empty-handed—he had come here for Kaio-Ken and Genki Dama (the Spirit Bomb). There was no way he would give up on learning these two legendary techniques...
