Chapter 91: The Seven-Layer Dressing Method

Chen Xiaofei handed over the extra thermal coats from their spatial storage to the rookie teams and taught them the seven-layer dressing method: L1 - quick-drying lightweight base layer, L2 - medium-weight flannel base, L3 - warm fleece, L4 - windproof, waterproof, and breathable clothing, L5 - softshell jacket and pants, L6 - hardshell jacket, L7 - thermal coat.

This seven-layer gear was more than sufficient for outdoor activities in extreme weather conditions.

The rookie teams were all ordinary people. If they were into outdoor activities, they might know a bit about this, but if not, they were essentially blind to the dangers.

Extreme weather could be deadly cold.

While the other teams understood this, the two rookie teams were clueless.

Xu Duoduo handed them two large tins of brown sugar ginger tea powder, ready to be mixed with hot water for a warming drink.

The Cheetah Team and White Dove Team were extremely grateful. Their eyes practically sparkled with gratitude as they looked at the 3A Team, thanking them sweetly before hurrying back to their vehicles with the supplies.

Qin Luo and the others didn't need to wear the outermost layer just yet; the 3A Team only needed to put on their hardshell jackets for now. They would decide whether to wear the thick thermal coats once they got out of the car.

After changing, Qin Luo turned to check on the little zombie. "Are you done changing?"

Xu Duoduo nodded, forgetting they couldn't see her, so she added a verbal "Mm."

Qin Luo pulled down the curtain and saw her in a white sweater and thick pants, looking soft and fluffy—adorably cute. "Your brown pants are the highlight. They look great. Next time, we should get Lin Qianxing to make some winter outfits. When it gets cold, you can't wear those autumn skirts."

  They were too thin.

Chen Xiaofei also turned to look and his eyes lit up. "Wow! The squad leader looks great! She looks so cute dressed like this!"

Bai Shu gave a thumbs-up. "Indeed, she looks nice."

Wang Weihu glanced back briefly before starting the vehicle again. "She does look nice, but she'll need to put on a thicker coat when we get out."

Qin Luo found the little zombie too cute to resist and pinched her cheek, then tidied her hair. "Oh man, the cold weather brings static. Her hair's all frizzy. How should we fix this? Tie it up?"

Xu Duoduo nodded immediately. She wanted to tie her hair up; the static was annoying, making her face itch occasionally.

Chen Xiaofei suggested, "Then, Qin, why don't you tie it up? It shouldn't be too hard."

Qin Luo moved to the back seat, facing Xu Duoduo's head of black hair, unsure where to start. However, he had touched her hair plenty while drying it—smooth and fragrant. "Let me see. Xu Duoduo, get some hair ties out."

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

Xu Duoduo obediently pulled out a jar of black hair ties from her space. Qin Luo immediately said, "Why so dull? Get something cute."

Life as a zombie was tough.

She wasn't a little girl anymore.

But seeing Qin's determined tone, she resignedly pulled out a box of colorful hair ties.

Qin Luo was satisfied this time and chose a pink hair tie with a white fluffy bunny on it, clumsily braiding her hair into a loose, low braid.

  He was quite proud afterward.

"Hey, I'm a genius. Look at this craftsmanship, pretty good, right?"

It actually had a kind of messy beauty.

Chen Xiaofei exclaimed in admiration, giving Qin Luo a thumbs-up. "Qin, you're awesome!"

  Bai Shu nodded, "Not bad."

Wang Weihu focused on driving; he couldn't afford any distractions. The plants along the highway were already frosted over, looking terrifying.

The vehicle windows were fogged up.

"Switch to snow mode. Doesn't this vehicle have a snow mode? For the cold snap."

Qin Luo remembered the staff mentioning this new feature. Besides the diving and tank modes, there was a snow mode.

Wang Weihu asked Chen Xiaofei to help activate it. Chen Xiaofei fiddled with the controls and successfully switched to snow mode, immediately feeling the tires stabilize.

The car no longer felt like it was constantly slipping.

  "Much better!"

Wang Weihu breathed a sigh of relief and checked the rearview mirror. The Cheetah Team and White Dove Team were following closely behind, not falling behind.

At least they were familiar faces.

And they were all young and obedient, so helping them out was necessary.

  All veterans start as rookies.

The 3A Team had also stumbled and struggled their way to where they were now.

Of course, they couldn't have done it without the guidance of their seniors.

Passing the torch, so to speak.

Once they had changed into their thick clothes, they noticed it was eerily quiet outside. Even when they reached a traffic jam, the nearby zombies were frozen stiff.

  Rock solid.

"Oh my god, do you think this cold snap will kill off the zombies?" Chen Xiaofei suddenly exclaimed excitedly.

Bai Shu adjusted his glasses and told him to stop dreaming. "Zombies can evolve too. They're frozen solid now, but soon they'll evolve into cold-resistant zombies."

So he suggested taking them out before they evolved.

He got up and prepared to open the sunroof.

"The wind's going to blow in, get ready. I'm throwing some explosives to take them out."

What kind of grim reaper talk is this?

Qin Luo glanced at the little zombie. Xu Duoduo instinctively wrapped herself in a small blanket.

  Captain Qin was quite pleased.

"Nice, getting smarter. Keep it up, and you won't get kidnapped."

Xu Duoduo was embarrassed by the praise and buried herself in the blanket.

As Bai Shu opened the sunroof, cold wind rushed in, instantly dropping the temperature inside the car and making them shiver.

"Damn, it's freezing! Is this wind made of knives? Help!"

  Chen Xiaofei cried out.

Wang Weihu kindly reminded him, "Eating cold wind will give you a stomachache."

  Chen Xiaofei quickly shut up.

Bai Shu tossed a few explosives, blowing up the frozen zombies on the road. Chen Xiaofei then used his ability to clear the vehicles blocking their path.

"Woohoo! I think the wind is stronger in this weather! Fun, fun!"

Chen Xiaofei's ability was quite handy, saving them a lot of trouble by clearing the road. Wang Weihu's earth ability couldn't be used without damaging the highway.

They had to rely on Chen Xiaofei.

For the rest of the journey, Bai Shu and Qin Luo took turns tossing small marble bombs, blasting away vehicles and zombies blocking the road, while Chen Xiaofei used his tornado to sweep them aside.

The road was smooth and clear.

  Suddenly, a ringtone chimed.

The Rose Team had started a voice call. "Qin, where are you guys? How's the road? We can't get through on the national highway and are turning back."

Wang Weihu sighed upon hearing this. "They're going to cause a delay."

Qin Luo was busy throwing explosives into the wind and couldn't reply, so Chen Xiaofei took the call. "Mu, Mu, we're at the X City service area. Everything's fine; the road's clear. Speed up and catch up with us."

Mu Mei's voice was hoarse, but she replied, "Copy that."

After the call ended, Chen Xiaofei shook his head in exasperation. "That Jin Dapeng is a disaster, always so full of himself!"
