Changes

Taking sip of her coffee, her green eyes bouncing between mines. Elloren was clearly waiting on something. Inhaling, I let the calming aroma flavor of Columbian coffee beans and caramel lattes slide down my throat.

“Well!! What did your dad say?”

“Say about what?” I replied. Genuinely hoping she knew nothing about the marriage question.

“Marriage Alucard. Even I could hear Godric ask the question.”

Raising my eyebrow at Elloren. She is lying. Godric made sure no one could hear question because he stopped time. Leaning back against the black leather chair, I waited for Elloren to tell me the truth.

Rolling her eyes after sitting her coffee down, she replied.

“Okay okay. The Victorian told me.”

“You were with her all night?”

  “Yes.”

A light red blush appeared underneath Ellorens’s cheeks as the word yes exited her mouth. I know that blush.

Leaning forward, touching the heated blood underneath her left cheek I said.

  “You like her.”

“I don’t know yet. She is wildly different then what I thought she would be like.”

“I agree.” I replied, dropping my hand from her cheek.

“Are you planning to see her again?”

“I am not sure. I am not sure she likes me. I flirted she starred. I touched her but she never touched me back. I was going to give her my phone number, but she left. Is Godric like that?”

Diverting my eyes over Elloren’s yellow wool sweater covered shoulder, summoning my older memories of Godric. Looking for any behaviors that resembled his sisters. My mind coming up blank.

Shaking my head. Elloren sighed resting her forehead on the tabletop.

  “She isn’t gay is she.”

“She stared at you a lot during our private conversation. It reminded me of how Godric stares at me sometimes.”

“There is hope after all.” Elloren said lifting her head. Her blue hair finding its place around her face.

“Are you going to marry him Alucard?”

Turing my head to face the cold outside. I shrugged my own wool covered shoulders.

“Marriage Elloren. I have only seen it displayed by my parents. Two species of the same kind.”

“That’s not true your mother was human when she decided to marry your father.”

“That’s not a good defense. Humans seem prone to marry anything against their sanity.”

“Still, she did, and she loves him all these decades later she still loves him.”

Just as Elloren finished her sentence, patches of the clouds began to disperse. The last of winter is coming to and end. Which means break time. Which means break at The Bluestones.

“I love him now, but forever for a vampire is never ending. Its easy for others to say everything forever. Their forevers all have an expiration date. To me it really can mean forever.”

Elloren did not say anything in response. Pulling out her phone she replied to a text.

“Come on we will be late to Mr. Davis class.”

Damn I haven’t seen Mr. Davis since I killed shadow Clarissa. Thinking of, I pulled out my own phone sending a text to Ethan.

“You can summon me you know. That part has not altered Mistress.”

“I forgot. I am not accustomed to you in this magnitude.”

“You will be and yes. I can bring Clarissa to you later tonight. May I suggest one thing Mistress?

“Your question for suggestion is already one thing Ethan, however, I am listening.”

  “Let Elloren choose.”

I did not respond to Ethan. Instead, I paid for the coffees and followed Elloren out the coffee shop. Maybe Ethan did have a valid suggestion.

Making our way through the school grounds, passing through the garden a familiar scent in the air. Elloren stopped dropping her head down to clicking her heels. Unpleasantness is coming. Whenever she clicked her heels like this, she wanted to be anywhere but where she was. Circling around the marbled statue of The Headmaster in the center of the garden was Gabriel. His black slacks holding no wrinkles and his white collared school uniform shirt outlined his slim but build frame perfectly. Has he always appeared this way?

The last time I looked at him was the night of his party. Did he appear that way? No of course not. This is not the same Gabriel. He has changed. His facial features are more fitting of a young man now, not the boy I remember from the party. Why the change? If he had ascended, we would know. So how the changes?

With perfect vision nothing about his is out of place. His aura is the same, he is not a shadow, not under a spell. He is the real Gabriel. Moving a lock of his hair out of his eyes. He continued to stare at the statute. He knows we are here but not acknowledging us. Why?

Blowing out a low breath, Elloren bounced over to Gabriel. Without removing his eyes from the statue, he spoke to her. His tone low and missing his usual excitement to see her. Elloren heard it to.

“Are you okay Gabriel?” Elloren asked. Her tone not worried but interested in his lack of interest.

Gabriel did not respond to her. Instead, he sat down on the garden bench facing the purple roses.

“Alucard, can you leave us for a moment?” Gabriel asked, not looking in my direction.

“Why I am going to hear about it sooner or later.”

  “I personally prefer later.”

“It’s okay Alucard. I will catch up later.” Elloren said as she moved to sit next to Gabriel.

Rolling my eyes, I dispersed myself into red bats. Leaving them alone. Gabriel no matter his form could do no damage to Elloren.

Reassembling myself on the tops of the school’s steps, I made my way to Mr. Davis class.

After class, no one could build up enough courage to ask me why I killed shadow Clarissa. Or maybe they did not know. Deaths of other students are usually announced and the other killer expelled depending on the circumstances. However, Clarissa or shadow Clarissa was not an actual student.

The school, however, will eventually need to explain why she returned as vampire Clarissa if tonight goes well. And if it does not, they will need to explain her absence, which would eventually lead to not only the students learning there was a shadow student here but their parents as well. They will want to know how a shadow was able to take Clarissa place without notice. The latter would be much easier. Only rare mediums like Clarissa can pull off perfect shadow because its not really a shadow, just her from a different dimension.

“Ms. St. Vincent, may I speak with you a moment?” The question came from Mr. Davis. As usual he planted himself on the side of his never dull desk, ankles crossed. With my now vision I can visually see the wolf in his face. Wide eyes, too full beard, too full head of hair, too sharp of a nose. Things that are not usually noticeable, until you compare them to other faces.

Humans like most things are wrong about the dynamics of wolves and vampires. We do not despise each other. I have never cared enough to learn more about the history of wolves, but I do know, when humans were on a rampage about being the elite ones. Wolves and vampires numbers were not diminished. They protected each other. The vampires giving the wolves a place to run and hunt during their moon cycle. Since most of vampire territory was unreachable for humans. The wolves in turn protecting the vampires during their days rest.

During that time my father owned several islands, each one protected by a witch. For three decades Mr. Davis’s pack stayed on my father’s island. Mr. Davis, fell in love with the island witch, Theadorian. Soon they wanted to start a family of their own because the human’s temper tantrum was over and well it was the supernatural’s turn. Instead, The Angel of Death happen. Wiping out half of human species. That would have included their unborn child if my father had not offered his blood to save their kid. Wolves can not become vampires and vice versa. Something to do with the strains of blood. In the end their kid lived, with both parents owing a great debt to my father. His price of course was the kid. At any moment my father feels he is ready to collect the kid, he will. Until then they live in peace.

Nodding my head, I shifted my glance from Mr. Davis to outside. The bell rung only a few moments ago. The courtyard below is not yet flooded with disappointment.

“Your father came to me the day of the ceremony. Told me that the school will not allow your actions to go unpunished. He wants me to keep my eye on the situation.”

“By situation you mean the movements of The Headmaster?”

  “Yes.”

“What are you asking me to do Mr. Davis?”

“Whenever you speak to The Headmaster be careful of their phrasing of things St. Vincent. Be careful of your phrasing of things.”

Removing my back from the chair and leaning my chin on the backs of my hands. I met Mr. Davis eyeline. He without hesitation looked away.

“Why do you never look me in the eyes Mr. Davis?” I asked. Finally curious enough to want to know the answer.

By the time Mr. Davis answered, “Puppet Master.” His next class could be heard coming down the hall. I could see him physically relax a little. He is not a nervous wolf, only a careful one.

Without responding I grabbed my backpack, leaving the classroom. There is no need to tell him that “Puppet Master” is a power I will never have since I still have a human soul. He must have seen my father do it.

The rest of the day dragged by. So much so that by the time I made it back to my room, I was exhausted by boredom. Placing my black Dr. Marten leather backpack and myself on my couch I sighed with relief. Three more days of class, then hopefully answers about Mr. Bluestone. Speaking of, pulling out my phone. To my surprise, no texts from Elloren. In fact, the last time I spoke to her was in the garden with Gabriel.

Before I could hit the call button, I felt Ethan outside. Using my telekinesis, I opened the door. Allowing Clarissa to walk in first, Ethan slid in behind her.

Wearing clean white cotton floor length dress, with no shoes and untamed curls. She halfway resembled a forest vampire.

“Am I finally free vampire?” She asked. Her wild but intelligent blue eyes soaking in her current surroundings.

Folding my legs underneath me I replied, “No, but there is another version of freedom I can offer you. Before you answer I will explain the entire situation to you. In the meantime. Ethan can you please bring Elloren here?”

Without answering Ethan, left us alone. As I explained to Clarissa her options, not once did she scream, or yell or move. Instead, she stood in place listening controlling her heartbeat.

“Therefore, I cannot allow you to live without restrictions.”.

Taking a step forward, her bare feet barely making any noise.

“What if The Holy Trinities can still use me as a vessel?”

“Impossible. Vampires have no soul to sit in.”

  “You do.”

“Because I was born with one.”

“Right, that’s why you are special. Anyways you feel different then before. Why is that?” Clarissa asked. Still standing but exploring her surroundings.

  “I ascended.”

  “To what? A demon?”

“Is that what I feel like to you? A demon Clarissa?”

“No, it's the closest thing in my vocabulary I can compare your presence to.”

“How does it work? Outside of me accepting it?”

“I drain you; you drink from me. You change or die.

“In other words, die or be killed.” I could see a little smirk on her face as the words left her full lips. If I never noticed before, I did now. Clarissa is stunning. Or maybe its her wit that I enjoy? She is not afraid of me. Fearful of my nature but no coward when faced with it. If she does turn, my father would be pleased with her joining our family.

“You are a virgin to this St. Vincent. Shouldn’t your father or I don’t know, any other vampire be here for this?”

Standing up, moving too fast for Clarissa to see. I pushed her against the back glass wall of my room. A little shock left her throat but nothing more. No screams no swift movement to push me off. For someone with a lack of an equilibrium, her instincts are sharp. Never fight back unless you know you can win.

Pressing my body against hers she submitted without resistance. The heat of her body felt like a heartbeat pouring into me.

Staring down at her full lips I replied, “No.”

  “Is sex apart of it?”

“Yes. Feeding off you will be extremely arousing.”

Swallowing the shared air between us. Clarissa moved her blue watering eyes from my red eyes to my lips, then back again.

None of this is required to turn her. However my father told me once, that turning someone that is sexually ready for you, will be much easier than turning someone who isn’t. Consent versus non-consent.

Moving past her face, whispering “Are you going to cry Clarissa?” directly in her ear. I felt her shiver.

“No. That push hurt that’s all. But you are a sadist, my pain is liquor.” Her lips shook, but she did not force the words to escape. Non, Clarissa is not afraid of me. Demon presence and all, she is still not afraid to speak her mind. The clumsy coffee spiller.

Removing my body from hers, Clarissa sagged a little. Through her dress I can see her harden nipples and her breast heaving a little. Her skin flushed just as Elloren’s was earlier in the day. She is attracted to me. Or least some part of me. This is good.

Before I could say anything, the door turned and in walked Ethan and Elloren. However, they are not alone. Godric followed a smirk playing in the corners of his lips.

  Fuck.
