4- The Surfaced Dungeon (4)

It's hairy muscular body began to stumble up, using it's weapon as a way to properly balance itself. Jordan's celebration of Cookie's flame attack was short lived as his attention was quickly redrawn to the recovering enemy in front of him. The humongous Gorilla grumbled a little, shaking off it's pain, somewhat pushing through it before patting the side of his face that had been attacked. The fury within it slowly began to bubble up as it balled its hand up into fist, beginning to ferociously beat at its own chest, letting out a deafening war cry that forced Cookie to whimper and hide behind Jordan's neck, and Jordan to take a step back.

"Oi Cookie. You reckon he's angry?" Jordan said, smiling nervously while attempting to make light of the situation.

  "OF COURSE HE'S ANGRY!"

Jordan inhaled a little, stepping forward and gripping his blade tightly once more. He knew that this battle was most definitely not going to be easy, but with his growing skill of swordsmanship, and having Cookie using attack magic as a back-up, there was a slight chance for them to conquer this dungeon alive. Jordan buried his feet into the ground, and inhaled once more before dashing forward, they eyes of the Gorilla most definitely locked with his. Cookie's screams were very close to Jordan's ears since the Penguin was tied onto his back, however they began to drown out the longer the staring contest between him and the Gorilla went on, its eyes glowing an even brighter Orange for some odd reason. It raised it's stone bat, swinging down hard at Jordan who dashed to the side of the attack, successfully dodging.

  "JORDAN! OUR SIDE!" Cookie yelled.

Jordan instantly noticed that the bat was now being dragged along the floor following his successful evasion of the first attack. He jumped over the approaching bat as best as he could, his feet barely going above the bat, landing on it. The Gorilla stopping its attack in surprise at how nimble the little cockroach in front of him was. Jordan jumped up from the bat, now soaring above the Gorilla at around eleven feet, raising the blade in his hand above his head, bringing it down hard at the Gorilla. It seemed surprised, but blocked Jordan's attack with it's bat.

  "Now Cookie!" Jordan ordered.

Cookie in response peeked out from behind Jordan's back, his flippers glowing a dark orange before a rather large rock had been conjured up out of thin air. The Penguin launched the magic attack directly at the Gorilla's face, who stumbled back and grumbled in annoyance as the rock broke against it's face, shattering and causing pieces of dirt to unfortunately fall into it's eyes. This allowed Jordan to land once more, before dashing forward as fast as he could, not allowing the Gorilla to recover at all before reaching the creature's knees, slashing deep into it's flesh. Blood began to gush out violently as the beast roared in pain before falling to one knee, still gripping its own weapon tightly.

Having cleared the dirt from it's eyes, and capable of seeing again, it quickly noticed how close Jordan was. It raised it's bat high before striking down with an attack fuelled with rage and irritation. Jordan was able to dodge, but due to the force of the attack being much stronger than any other the Gorilla had thrown at him before, he was knocked back by the shockwave of the attack, rolling on the floor as he felt the cloth that held him and Cookie together loosen. Cookie went rolling in a direction near Jordan, who still had his blade in his hand.

This Gorilla was far from a fool though. There was a reason he was the boss of this jungle and why he led those barbaric Chimp's. Even apes can progress through countless amounts of battle. It took it's time standing up, even on its injured leg, slowly trudging it's way towards Cookie, ignoring Jordan who lay injured against the wall in this room. The individual who was most definitely the biggest threat to it at the moment was the spellcasting Penguin.

Jordan's eyes flickered open as he had lost consciousness for a short moment, his sword on the floor next to him. With a slight wince, he stood up using his sword to keep balance. He looked around in search of Cookie and the Gorilla who had oddly disappeared from his line of sight. Only then did he realise his left eye had been bruised and coated in blood. Wincing in pain, he knew he could definitely no longer use this eye unless it was treated or healed by the dungeon once he completed this level. The sounds of thumping caught his ears as he turned his body towards his blind spot. Cookie was laying against the wall, visibly knocked out due to the heavy shockwave, and the beastly Gorilla was slowly but surely approaching him. Jordan knew if he had awoken a minute later, Cookie would most likely be Gorilla dinner by now. Plus, the wound Jordan had inflicted on the Gorilla prior to the devastating shockwave was slowing it down.

Jordan inhaled deeply, turning to face the Gorilla, "OVER HERE YOU HEAVY PIECE OF SHIT!"

The Gorilla turned it's head towards Jordan, grumbling slightly before focusing on finishing off Cookie before Jordan approached him again. Jordan tensed up, imagining Cookie being torn apart by this filthy ape, his legs immediately dashing forward, the grip on his sword tightening hard enough that blood began to spill from his fist.

Before both individuals knew it, blood was spilling onto the ground, and a huge white fur covered hand was being coated in that crimson fluid. The Gorilla roared out in pain, holding at where his hand once was, now a blood covered stump. It moved back before glaring down at Jordan who looked absolutely furious at what the Gorilla had just attempted.

"Who do you think you are? No one gets to eat my duo!" Jordan yelled out, the gem on his blade glowing brighter, the entire blade suddenly being coated in that familiar orange light. However, it didn't stop there. The glow followed up the entire arm that Jordan was using to hold this sword. He lifted the sword, feeling as though something had drastically changed. Before, he struggled to even cut through the flesh of this Gorilla during the coordinated attack he had done with Cookie, but now he simply cut off it's hand with one rage fuelled slash. He wondered whether this sword worked off of emotion, but pushed the thought away, focusing on the enemy in front of him, who looked thoroughly pissed.

"He injured it badly, not once, but twice. Maybe he'll free me...Keep it up brat, kekeke!"

Jordan turned back to Cookie who was now waking up slowly. He looked extremely fatigued and injured from the events from the dungeon so far, but the little penguin had done enough for Jordan now.

  "Hey...Rest up. I'll finish this."

  Stolen story; please report.

Cookie didn't respond, but just closed his eyes again, properly passing out this time. Jordan wondered if he gave up like that through pure trust that his new pink haired friend could finish the job. It made Jordan smile slightly as he grinned at the Gorilla sinisterly, his body working off of pure adrenalin now.

It pounced at both Jordan and Cookie, but the boy reacted quickly, grabbing both him and Cookie, dodging quickly out of the way as it's body landed where they last were, the entire underground area rumbling and beginning to crumble from the weight.

"You fat oaf." Jordan sneered, putting down Cookie before running at full speed towards the injured and slow moving Gorilla, cutting deep into it's wound forcing tears to it's eyes as it howled in pain.

It dropped down to both knees now as it left itself wide open for Jordan to attack. The boy jumped up into the air, falling for the bait as the Gorilla suddenly opened it's eyes headbutting Jordan into the ground, forcing him to cough out blood and roll to safety quickly. It stood and charged at Jordan once more before slapping him with an open palm. Jordan slid against the ground holding his ground as blood fell from his nose and mouth after he blocked the heavy attack. The Gorilla however, was not done with it's assault as it raised both arms going for a slam down on Jordan, he raised his blade above his head, blocking the attack as he was knocked down to a knee from the force for the attack. He was forced to use his both arms on the sword to hold his ground better. His bones felt like they were about to crack at any moment, and his muscles were tearing from the amount of pressure he was under.

Only then, in that moment did Jordan's life begin to flash before his eyes. He failed to escape this boring island and chase his dreams of becoming a Voyager. He failed at catching up to his childhood friend who had already left and surpassed him. He failed to find out exactly why his parent's left him with his uncle, but worst of all, he felt as though he failed himself. These negative thoughts only made him grit his teeth harder in anger as he glared up at the Gorilla during their clash, their eyes locking once more, except this time, Jordan's eyes were more fierce, more desperate.

  "GET OFF OF ME!"

Jordan forced the Gorilla back, the boy's entire body beginning to be coated in the same glowing aura that had only travelled up to his dominant arm earlier. He coughed out more blood before grunting loudly, launching the Gorilla back, winning the clash and slashing forward, causing a few of the ape's finger's on it's remaining hand to fall to the ground.

"I'm not done with you!" Jordan exclaimed, dashing forward at speed's he was not used to, his entire body creaking in pain.

Cookie had woken up and was leaned against a wall, watching the entire situation in awe. He was unaware of how effective the sword truly was for Jordan, but it was clearly taxing. Once Jordan reached the Gorilla's stomach he began to slash repeatedly at it's unguarded chest and stomach repeatedly, an uncountable number of slashes sinking deep into it's flesh. It's eyes had whitened from the shock and pain, but Jordan roared and continued to slash until it's organ's were spilling out, blood pooling on the floor, and covering Jordan's entire body as it's limp corpse fell to the ground.

Jordan stood there for a moment, his senses immediately returning. He panted and wiped the blood from his face, before wincing at what he had just done, vomiting all over the floor. Only then did the pain kick in as he dropped his blood stained sword, falling onto his back as he cried out in pain. He knew for sure that some of his bones were broken from the heavy hits that the Gorilla did, and without that sword bringing out the best in him, he and Cookie would have been getting spit roasted.

"Cookie!!! Cookie answer are you okay!?" Jordan yelled, unable to move from where he was. His breathing sped up as he nervously worried for Cookie.

"I'm okay..." Cookie yelled back, waddling over nervously and looking at Jordan with tears streaming down his cute little penguin face.

Jordan sighed in relief, smiling a little at Cookie's expression, "You're okay..."

"I'm okay..." Cookie reassured before moving over to Jordan, his flippers glowing green as he attempted to heal Jordan's major injuries with magic.

The heart of the Gorilla which lay in the pool of blood began to beat faster as a more crimson ooze flowed out of it. It sprouted eyes, looking around before seeing the glow emanating from the gem in Jordan's sword.

  "No time like the present."

It began to move its way over, following a flow of trailing blood before connecting with the gem on the hilt of the sword. It began to glow for a moment before the eyes of the ooze narrowed slightly. It slowly began to phase into the gem of the sword until it was no longer there, the glow slowly dying out.

Cookie cocked his head towards the sword near Jordan's hand before squinting his eyes slightly.

"What's wrong?" Jordan asked, sitting up with a slight grunt.

"Nothing...I thought your sword had activated again." Cookie responded, pointing his flipper towards the gem of the blade.

Jordan looked over at it too, "It only ever activates in battle. It helped against the Lizardmen, the Chimp's, and especially against the Gorilla boss."

They both looked at it a bit before sighing out. Cookie looked over at Jordan's body, "I did some healing to fix you up so you can walk out of here. But all my mana's gone now."

"That's fine! I think we're done with this Dun-" Jordan responded before getting cut off by the sudden rumbling of this area. Stones began to fall from the roof of this place.

Jordan quickly picked up Cookie and his sword before running out of this underground area. The rumbling did not stop, even once they reached the surface. Instead what they saw was more horrifying. The walls encasing this jungle were crumbling up, the trees were beginning to fall one after another. It was as though this entire place was facing a humongous earthquake.

"What's happening!?" Cookie yelled, tightening the cloth around him and Jordan.

"I heard about this on the radio. Something about how Dungeon's close in on themselves once the boss is defeated."

"Th-Then how are we gonna get out!" Cookie screamed, panicking as he held his flippers to his head.

As they looked around for escape routes, their entire bodies were covered in a bright golden light which continuously got brighter and brighter until all Jordan could see was white. He closed his eyes from the brightness, as all he could still hear was Cookie hyperventilating on his back. Eventually he opened his eyes to himself on his ass in the ruins around multiple people holding camera's, weaponry, and other equipment. He looked around nervously as the white light faded from his body, the crowd of people here immediately rushing towards him, circling him and taking pictures.

"HE JUST CAME OUT OF THE DUNGEON! YOU ALL SAW THAT WHITE LIGHT!"

  "This boy!? No way!!"

  "Who is he!? A Voyager!?"

"Never seen him before, but this is big news!"

  "Is he the missing boy!?"

"THANK GOD! I CAME TO THIS ISLAND AND ACTUALLY GOT A STORY!"

Cookie looked around frantically, clinging to Jordan's back as the photographers continued to flash their camera's at the both of them. Jordan however sat their in both awe and confusion. Missing boy? How long had he been gone!?
