It’s Saturday night and Trina and Tori are at home playing a video game. Trina gets really competitive and knocks Tori onto the ground. The doorbell rings.
“Tori, can you get that? You’re on the floor. I’m gonna get ready to go somewhere.”
Tori gets up and opens the door. “Oh. Hey, Jade.”
“Hey.”
“Wait! What?”
“I wanted to—“

Trina comes downstairs. “I got a party to crash that I wasn’t invited to. Who was it at the door that made you scream?”
“Jade.”
“Ew.” Trina goes back to her room.
“Well, I’m not wanted. I guess I’ll—“
Tori reopens the door. “Hey, Jade. Come in.”
Trina walks out of her room with a training dummy. “Hey, girls. Don’t mind me. Just getting some exercise before this party.” She starts punching and kicking it. She then kicks the head off and stares at Jade. “If Tori tells me anything I need to know, I’ll turn you into that!”
“Noted.”
Trina leaves.
“Actually, I wanted to talk to you outside, Tori.”
Tori steps outside.
“Okay. We’re outside like you wanted. Why didn’t you text me that you were gonna come?”
“You never unblocked me.”
Tori sighs and unblocks Jade. Jade then texts her. Tori’s phone buzzes and she pulls it out of her pocket.
“Did you get it?”
“‘Hey. I’m heading to your house. We need to talk.’ Okay. First, you already established that and you’re here. Why did you need to text me? Second, about what?”
“First, because I’m not thinking straight in more ways than one.”
“Huh?”
“Second, I want to talk about the play and the kiss.”
“Oh.”
“That play was pretty dumb, right?”

“It’s like she watched every high school movie and sitcom ever and barfed up a play.”

“You just need the right people. You still have the group.”

“Cat and Robbie still helped us. I don’t think André will hate you for that long. Beck will eventually get over it. I don’t think they completely hate you. Trina, well, she just needs to see you be nicer to me. Sure, if I wanted to make them leave, they’d leave you.”
“I know.”
“But they had every chance to make you leave and they didn’t. Deep down, they will always care about you. I will always care about you. Maybe someone can help you become nicer. I honestly think I can help you be a better person if you allow it.”

“Maybe we’re just still in the mindset of our characters.”

“One, I’m just as confused as you are. Two, it should wash out. It’s a pillowcase.”
“I think I’m going to just put on the rest of my clothes and leave.” Jade gets up and bends over to pick up her pants and Tori stares.

Jade and Tori kiss and then Robbie and Cat gasp and look at each other in shock.

“Well, do you two love each other?” Robbie asks.
“We don’t know.” They reply.
“What happened on your date?” Cat asks.

“Okay. Let’s think back. What has been going on between you two beforehand?” Robbie asks.

“Did you two ever feel something for each other before?” Cat asks.
“I only ever wanted to be Jade’s friend before this. I’m practically forced to be with her a lot. We almost always get in plays or activities where we’re couples or married, so maybe we’re mixing that with our lives. I hated her a little, but as time went on the hate died down.”
Jade?” Cat asks.
Jade sighs. “Tori’s helped me a lot when I go to her for help. I don’t know. I guess I’m just not mean to her because she doesn’t deserve it and I realize that now.”
“Maybe being mean to her was your sign of affection if it was there. Maybe it was your way of trying not to come out if you are in love with her.” Robbie says.
“Well, I’m going to class.” Tori says.
“We all should.” Robbie says.
“Cat, before we go, I need to talk to you.” Jade says.
Robbie and Tori leave. Jade starts crying.
“What’s wrong?”

Their morning class with Sikowitz is just a test. Then they go through their regular classes. By lunch, the six of them are at their usual table at the Asphalt Café.

Jade and Tori cry and leave. Trina comes by.
“Why is Tori crying? Was It Jade? I will end her!”
“No!” Cat screams.
“What happened between them?” Trina asks again.
“It’s complicated.” Robbie says.
“Maybe we should talk to them separately. Beck and I will talk to Jade first, and then Tori.” André says.
“Cat, Robbie, what do you think about the plan?” Beck asks. Cat and Robbie are busy kissing.
“Cat got scared and then we started kissing.” They continue kissing.
After school, Jade is with Beck and André in Beck’s RV.
“Look guys, I don’t know how else to explain it.”
“Then why was that happening?” Beck asks.
Jade sighs. “I have to respect her more considering she can fight. Plus, she helps me. I depend on her more than I could depend on you, Beck. Even when I push her she comes back. I almost killed her and yet she doesn’t completely hate me.” She sighs again. “Look, I’m sorry. I don’t know.” She starts sniffling. “I don’t deserve to love you, her, or anyone, but I feel better around her. I don’t know. I’m not good enough. I think it’s because she’s a girl who I just so happen to hang around with who is nice to me.” Her voice trembles. “I don’t even know if I like girls. Beck, you and I don’t work. Let’s be honest, we’ll break up again if we get back together.” Her voice quivers. “I intimidate everyone except her and her sister and I’m not about to think about fucking a talentless hack. I just don’t know, but I know it’s not you anymore.” She starts to cry. “I don’t know what to do!” She says in between sobs. “What’s wrong with me?”
“Alright.” Beck says.
“We’ll talk to Tori.” André says.
Jade leaves and André drives to Tori’s house to pick her up to speak to Beck and him in Beck’s RV.
“What’s up with you and Jade?” André asks.
“I just want Jade to be happy.” Tori says as she starts tearing up. She wipes off a tear and continues. “I just wanted to be her friend. I don’t even know how this happened. I wasn’t trying to steal her from you, Beck. She … I think she needs me. I don’t know why she feels like she can come to me for her problems instead of you, but I really just want Jade to be happy. Shouldn’t we all? She hurt me and everyone was ready to attack her, but I just think someone in her life needs to help her so she can be a better person. Beck, I know you would want someone like me over Jade, but…”
“But what?”
Tori starts crying. “But it isn’t going to be me.”
“What are you trying to say Tori?” Beck asks.
“I’m scared.” She says.
“Scared of what?” André asks.
“I’m afraid that this is just temporary and Jade will go back to her past self unless I keep doing this. I’m afraid that this is just going to start over again and we’ll keep fighting. I just want what’s best for her.”
“Do you like her?” Beck asks.
“I just want to be her friend.”
“What if she liked you?” Beck asks.
“I don’t know.” Tori starts to sob.
“I’ll drive her home.” André takes Tori by the hand. He drives her back to her home.
Jade and Tori are studying at the Vega house.
“Alright. We’re done studying.” Tori says.
“I can’t believe you can make me study.”

“Okay. We’ve told everyone except Trina.”

“By the way, what did you say to Beck and André?”
“I just want to be your friend. I want you to be happy. What about you?”

They hug for a long while and kiss.
“Jade, what are we?”
“I don’t know. I guess we can call ourselves two friends who just happen to want to have sex with each other because of something. Friends with benefits.”

Tori and Jade look at each other. “I know she is.”

It gets quiet.
“Hey. I have an idea. Let's say something nice about each other. Start with me.”
“Trina, I admire how much you care about Tori. I wish I could be more like you towards my younger brother.”
“Trina, you’re crazy.”
“Come on, Tori!”
“I'm not finished, Trina. You're crazy, but you also sometimes inspire me with your craziness. I really appreciate you.”
“Thank you, Tori. Jade’s turn. Jade, I like your style. I also like how confident you are.”
“Jade, I … I like how good of a playwright you are.”
“Tori, you’re an amazing and talented person. I’m glad we’re sisters.”
“Tori, I … I like … how talented you are and I like your confidence.”
“You know what I’m afraid of? Being a horrible person. Sometimes I’m self-centered, but I still care about friends and family. Deep down, I hate that I might not care enough.”
“I’m afraid Jade will be a bad person again. That’s why we’re hanging out more so I can bring out her best self.”
“I’m afraid of losing people and I feel bad that I was an awful person. I’m hanging out with Tori a lot because … because …”
“Okay. I’m just going to be honest. I overheard both of you having sex.”
They both go quiet.
“Jade, there’s no way Tori would let you do this if she didn’t feel a connection. If the two of you are too scared to tell each other something, just text me what you want to say and I promise I’ll leave you two alone. It'll be our secret. Neither of you will know what the other said.”
They both text Trina.
“Girls, I lied.”
“Come on!” They say.
“Say what’s on your minds, girls.”
Nobody says anything.
“I have a crush on Beck.”
“We know that.” The two say.
“Who else has a crush on someone?”
It gets quiet.
“Fine, I’ll say it since you two—“
“I just want Jade to be nice to me! And I don’t care if she doesn’t want to—”
“Fine! Tori’s always helping me and it makes me feel special all the time! I have a huge crush on her! I’m in love with her, but I don’t deserve her! I’m afraid of coming off as a hypocrite even though I want to keep having sex with her because it makes her feel good about her body and I have to keep doing this because I finally got to scissor her and it feels good and I messed up because of what I said about her and Cat and—”
Tori cuts her off with a kiss. “No more!” She kisses her again. “I wanted to hear you say that because I was afraid!” She kisses Jade another time. “I just wanted to hear it before I sounded stupid!” She gives Jade another kiss. “I love you so much!” They wipe off each other’s tears and keep kissing.
“Jade?”
They stop kissing. “Yes, Trina.”
“Promise me you’ll be a good girlfriend to my sister.”
“I promise!” They keep kissing.
“Let’s watch something when you two come downstairs.” Trina sighs. “You did a good job, Trina. You got your sister and her ex-frienemy to be a couple.” She pats herself on the back.
The clapping sounds, bed squeaking, and moaning start up again.
Downstairs! Trina heads downstairs. When Tori and Jade finish, they go downstairs with Trina and sit on the couch watching television. Tori and Jade cuddle on one end of the couch and Trina is on the other end.
“I didn’t know how to celebrate you two being a couple, so I ordered pizza along with this movie I thought we should watch. When are you telling Mom and Dad? Also, what about your parents, Jade?”
“We’ll figure that out later.” Tori says.
The movie ends. “I’m going to leave. Bye.” Jade says.
“I love you, Jade.”
“I love you, Tori.”
They kiss.
“Mom was right. You are a bottom.”

“Wait. What does that make us? What are we, Jade?”
“Girlfriends!”
