Year 2XXX
I had been exiled from my peers for a while now, having committed the unforgivable sin of mating with a human.
To be honest, I was young and in love. Besides, it wasn't like I cared that much about those customs in the first pce.
Why do we even still need to adhere to it when there's only ten of us left?
...
Well, I suppose eleven now...
Still, when I look at him, while he hold her little body like that in his hand, I can't help but feel joy.
"Look, Lilenbherg seems to be in a good mood, Sally."
"I suppose she really loves her dad."
"I still can't get over that name though, I guess even witches can be silly sometimes."
I threw one of the apple near my hospital bed at him.
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"Come on, Lilenbherg? I'm pretty sure those spells of yours sound the same as her name."
"That's because my spells are cool so it only makes sense that my daughter would be."
He gave me a dumbfounded look, like he was dealing with an annoying child.
"I knew it! You really gave her the name of one of those spells of yours!"
"I didn't get what the issue regarding that was. It's a pretty common practice for us witches when we have kids."
He sighed.
"I suppose I'm gd you didn't name her Whippersnapper."
Oh, he knows me so well, even down to my favourite thing to cast.
"Why didn't I think of that?! Lilenbherg is so outdated already, let's change her name right now!"
He hit the top of my head with his hand.
"Ouch!"
"No, can't do! Lilenbherg, take it or leave it!"
I really hated when he forced me to have to make a choice like this. Humans are so weird in the first pce. So what if I want to name my kid "Davidoff", I like those cigarettes with all my being.
Wouldn't that just be a symbol of how much I care about her?
...
Well, I suppose Lilenbherg is also cute...
"You're thinking something weird, aren't you?"
He really knows me all too well, even down to my thoughts.
"Well, regardless of all that, Dad is really happy to meet you, Li."
"Li?"
"Well, she's my precious little flower. Don't you think it's cute?"
"But... I named her Lilenbherg..."
"Don't you guys know the concept of nicknames?"
"What the hell is a nickname?"
No, seriously, what the hell is that word, I haven't left my dwelling for years now so I don't hear human expressions often.
"You really should go outside more, Sally. Here I thought I taught you the ropes. Hell, you weren't even fluent in english when you we first met. You're lucky you found someone who knew understood german first."
To be honest, sometimes I missed that pce. I grew up here so it's only natural.
As, I knew all too what transpired there centuries ago. The descendants of the people who started those witches trials were still after us after all.
Although, I heard nowadays, they don't just target us witches but all mystical beings.
How did that guy even manage to live that long in the first pce, he's a human, he shouldn't live through centuries like us.
Noticing my troubled expression, my husband sat next to me in my bed, "Li" still in his arms.
For a baby that was just born, she was awfully quiet. Shouldn't she cry or something like that?
Ah, right, I forgot hybrids have their own setbacks to deal with. Especially an hybrid between a witch and a human.
On one hand, I want to guide her and let her use magic, on the other, I know it'll kill her someday if I do.
The result of this union would need to fuel the energy of it's magic through it's own life energy after all...
"Are you still afraid about teaching her how to channel karma to use magic, Sally?"
"Yeah..."
"It's only natural. No parent would want their kid to die young ever."
"If I teach her... And she uses magic... She's gonna die after she turns fifteen if she uses them."
"That's weird, I remember you said she should be fine for at least 80 years."
"That is true... As long as she doesn't use a super uber powerful spell..."
"Isn't that a good thing then?"
"Well, this little one here... She's my daughter... My personal magic is considered the strongest among witches. While we don't inherit magic from our parents, there's still hereditary traits that are passed down in the signature of our cells."
"What do you mean?"
"If a witch possess a really strong magic then their kids would get an as strong or more powerful magic trough genetics. There is no in-between."
He went silent for a second.
"Wouldn't that mean it'd be better to not teach her."
As we continued to discuss the future, our body froze in pce. Like we were trapped in this space.
"What the hell? It's like I'm frozen in time."
"Ah! I hadn't considered she could use her magic while still being a toddler. No witch ever has ever done that."
Unsure of what to do, he quite litteraly forced himself to move and banced her from left to right.
She stopped crying, our body and the room returning to normal.
"She's not even 1 month yet and she's already causing trouble."
"I understand what you mean now."
"Yeah, who would expected she would be as silly as her mom?"
"You may say that but isn't that one the things you said you loved about me?!"

5 Years Later
I couldn't bear to watch it, the very man I loved being buried in that bck box in front of my eyes.
The firm grip I already had on Li's hand became even greater.
"Mom? Why are you crying? Why did they put Papa in the ground?"
She was still way too innocent to understand what was happening before her eyes.
This seemed like a targeted move, as if that organisation tried to say they knew where I lived and could come to kill me any time.
I was honestly tempted to have my revenge on these guys but I can't just fight people like my teens days. I have a responsibility now.
Right now, what I should focus on is to keep Li away from this apostle or so he calls himself and those guys .
I won't let them take Li away from me as well...
I need to take measures and informe myself, for Li's sake.

1 Year Later
"Mom, what the hell are you wearing?"
"Can't an old dy wear some streetwear in peace?"
"Not if she's so old she's an antiquity."
I scolded her "gently".
"Ah! That hurts, this isn't normal, why is it each time you do that it's like I get a headchop 20 times?"
So, she still hasn't realised...
I probably should keep it this way, the organisation is one thing but losing her because of carelessness was out of the question.
"Your dad really liked those brand of clothes..."
"Ah. I'm sorry, Mom..."
She was honestly so adorable. I hugged her tightly, reassuring her.
"No need to apologise, Lilenbherg, Mom knows it's hard on you too. If he was still here, he would have told you that your beautiful face is wasted without a smile."
She smiled, which made me do it as well in response.
What I didn't expect was that her growth curve didn't necessarily necessitate my help, the 2 dimensional sphere at the tip of her finger right now showcasing that fact firsthand.
"Sorry, Mom, that happens sometimes. I don't know what this is."
I should steer her away from the path of magic.
I thought, grabbing her finger, hiding the small thing she created
