File#29: 𝐒𝐈𝐃𝐄 𝐁- The price of friendship

I have been traveling with Miss Li, Lison, the cat and Marth in this desoted world for a while now.

I still remember when the priest instructed me to get closer to her after learning she was a Santa Maria student.

It was a little bit embarrassing having to act like I couldn't deal with that petty ghost but it worked in my favour.

"What's wrong, Cutie? What are you thinking about?"

It's kind of exasperating having to listen to this guy's attempts at flirting. The only one he uses such names for being myself.

What does he even sees in me? It should be pretty obvious by now that I don't feel the same.

Regardless, the fact is he fell in love with a lie. The Melissi I showed to Miss Li, Audrey, him and Allison doesn't exists in the first pce. That person is just a thinly veiled mask I use for the sake of my mission.

  "I-It's n-nothing, don't worry about it."

I hate having to speak like this, this isn't me. I don't even hesitate to say what I think in the first pce and I am far from scared of ghosts.

To be honest, the line between that fake personality and the true me were starting to blurr. It turns out if you have to act a certain way everytime to fool people, what is supposed to be fakeness starts to sip through reality.

I despise having to lie to myself, just for the sake of this priest.

  I despise him.

But I can't go against him.

After he could put an end to my life at any time. Well, if it was only my life, I would be fine with it but I can't afford to let him keep her captive.

  "You should taste this, Meli."

Allison handed a slice of pizza, enticing me to taste it.

Why are we even trying to enjoy pizza while the end of the world as we know it is going on around us?

Li couldn't wait, immediately digging in the thing, removing the chorizos and feeding them one by one to her cat.

I caved in, accepting the slice Allison kindly proposed to me.

  It was good...

However, the more I looked at Li, the sourer the taste became.

To be honest, the time I shared with these people felt priceless. I couldn't forgive myself for having to do such a thing but I had to...

Besides, as much as Allison doesn't wanna accept the bme, she's responsible for all of this.

  "Meli, your arm!"

  "Hm?"

Taking into account her remark, I looked at my arm, the body part getting twisted like a shirt you'd wring to remove the water of.

There was only one person I knew capable of doing that to a human body.

My fingernail cross glowed, my eyes turning to teal.

  "Sa?sāra."

We all went back to our initial positions, the sun doing a turn in reverse in the process.

The pizza slice now back in my hand and my arm back in pce.

  "What are you doing here?"

As expected, the priest showed itself.

  "You know that guy, Melissi?"

"I'm afraid I have never seen this man in my life."

"Don't take me for an idiot, Melissi! You wouldn't have asked him what he was doing here if you didn't know him!"

"Jeez, what's gotten into you, Li? What was that though? What the hell did you just do, Melissi?!"

It was quite weird seeing Allison act this friendly, she had came a long way.

However, why did Li sounds so angry?

"I knew I'd run into you one day, Priest! You have to pay for your crimes!"

  What was she talking about?

  "This is for my dad!"

As she said this, the building around us engulfed themselves around the priest.

  "KNEEL."

After he said this, our knees were forced to meet the ground. It was that damned apostle's ability that lets him manipute humans.

To my surprise, Li and Marth could partially resist the effect of his authority. Even though they were unable to move, unlike me and Allison, they could move.

  "Why can they move?"

"It's his apostle's ability, he can control humanity. I suppose the logic dictate that he can't fully controls something that isn't a 100% human."

  "Oh."

It was like she realized something after I said this.

"I wonder if that could work..."

She fell unconscious next to me after uttering those words, only for her purple eyes and the cross that accompanied them to disappear.

"I should have known it was the other one talking, you were way too nice."

"Don't get stuck on details, that fake wanted to figure out if that weakness applies in the metaphorical sense as well."

Just like Li and Marth, she could partially move.

"I see, from what it's worth, this version of myself is considered completely inhuman by ability."

It made sense, so far in our travels in this desoted world, she always wanted us to chose the most inhumane option possible.

In the first pce, this girl wanted to get rid of humanity...
